2 pointsBest mod I have done (e90 335i) ! What is BMW thinking putting those tyres on sports cars? The car feels and handles so much better now. Completely transformed it.

2 pointsThe vehicle is not of "acceptable quality", insist on a refund. They'll probably tell you it's "faulty" and they have the right to try and repair it, that's BS - because it failed immediately after purchase you don't get past the "acceptable quality" test to the "faulty" test. A "fault" might be something that popped up 3 months after purchase, not in week one. Anyway, sorry to hear this, do try and negotiate with them, it's always the easiest way but make it clear to them you know your rights. https://www.consumerprotection.govt.nz/help-product-service/cars/finding-the-right-car/buying-car-from-dealer/ https://www.consumerprotection.govt.nz/help-product-service/cars/solving-issues-car-dealer/ https://www.consumer.org.nz/articles/car-buyers-rights#article-when-things-go-wrong http://www.cab.org.nz/vat/tt/bs/pages/buyingfromadealer.aspx Good luck and keep us posted.

2 pointswinning indeed! I mean they looked nice for sure.. but with all the effort you are putting in to make the car nice and ready for track I would hate for the seat to randomly fail mid kick-ass drift and wreck the car or you get injured. Safety first always! isnt that right @CSET?

2 pointsSince I couldn't find someone to refill the NOS, I figured I'd be better off pulling it out and selling it to put the money into more important things. @qube I definitely took what you said into consideration and ended up selling the Bride reps. I sold them for the same price that I bought them for, minus the rails and frames-winning! I'm looking at Racetech RT1000s or something similar to replace them with..suggestions?. I also managed to pull the rest of the speakers (Pretty heavy!)+ wiring and rear boot linings out for ultimate weight saving. ?

2 pointsThe "actual" fault needs to be determined first before you start throwing money at it. 95% of fixing something is diagnosing the fault accurately before attempting to apply the fix to get the intended result.

1 pointHello fellow members I recently picked up this lovely example of an E46 Individual Msport Sedan in Estoril Blue, early August, haven't had a chance to take any photos due to work hours being outside the desired lighting, plus that lovely NZ weather that's about as unpredictable as woman ( that was a joke ? ) lol. I was actually looking for a daily in the E90's, but just couldn't find something i wanted, and having owned the E46's before, i really love most things about them. So sure enough, this example popped up on TM, and i thought i'd seen it on the forum, anyway....long story short within a few hours of it being listed, it was sitting in my driveway. So far i've yet to service it, although all services and maintenance is up to date, i've only added a JVC Headunit so i can listen to my boring playlist haha, maybe i'll upgrade it at a later date to something a little more...special. No big plans, but i do think i would like to throw some wheels at it, just unsure as to what wheels would suit. I've got a spare set of BBS RC 302's in Black... Hmm ?. Definitely going to put some quality window tints in, i'm not a fan of being roasted alive during summer season with leather, not my kinda thing hahaha. Gotta be honest though, the 3litre variants definitely have the kick over the 325's, but i specifically wanted something a little less hungry on fuel but still has enough for an enjoyable drive outta town if need be. I'm planning to keep the car for at least a year as i'm "supposed" to be back in study about a year from now, ( i know, student struggles ) haha. I believe there's a sister car somewhere out there, i was told by the fellow BS member that sold me the car, so if you see this around, say hi! Haha. Hopefully i'll have some more interesting content to update this thread, photos will follow as we head into Spring!

1 pointThank you so much for those links. I have read from that site but not those exact pages, that's really helpful. I do want to negotiate with them but I'm afraid that it will end up with more problems down the line. I would rather refund it and walk away. They have already offered to fix this and if another problem happens, they will take the car back. I wanted to accept this and asked him for a time frame (EG another problem within how long? A week, A month, Three months?) and he refused to give me one. Based on that I declined. We'll see. Thank you again for the well wishes. If I get rid of this, I will definitely be getting another BMW.

1 pointNaa, Brent (@BM WORLD) is skipping down to the park and ride in Papa' and nicking bits for his shop! Nothing really just "falls off".
-
1 pointnice buy mate! BBS RC302's have offset of 15 which might kill those guards. I was running my BBS with ET22 square and it was rubbing on bumps in the rear.

1 pointI recall a discussion here about covers in general about a year ago. IIRC the general consensus was the same as my personal experience - they'll all scratch your car. Even if they have a soft liner they will still scratch and you can't prevent stuff getting in between the car and cover which sticks there when wet and scratches even more. The best bet I think is a good cover that you can somehow stand off the actual vehicle. I thought of blocks of polystyrene wrapped in felt that you stuck to the inside of the cover (with glue) so it keep the cover away from the car. The problem there is you need a few of them and then the entire cover becomes even more cumbersome than it already is. A framed "tent" that you could drive (or push) under might be a good idea.

1 pointOCD had a guy polish mine out. They came back almost 100% like new. Around $150 though. I'm sure theres specialists out there that do just headlights.

1 pointWhy not get some rims that fit, and then fit some tyres to the rims so they fit properly, too? Maybe I'm just getting old...

1 pointSome years ago I sorted the cloudy plastic headlights on a Mazda Tribute using toothpaste. Worked a treat. (Smells fresh, too. )

1 pointIf they are really cloudy it will take some pretty serious work to get them back, but not impossible, i did my e39 ones and they took about an hour each with a sanding / polishing disc in a power drill. The most important thing is to seal them against UV damage once they are polished, otherwise they will start to deteriorate again as soon as they are exposed to sunlight. Replacing the covers can be a real pain, plenty of opportunity to do more damage than good with old brittle plastics.
-
1 pointthese covers can fall off , brittle old plastic clips etc , and many people knock them when backing up which weakens them etc . same with the badges , the emblems come with when the glue goes off etc they just blow off in the wind
-
1 pointInterior of the IS-F is rather on par with the earlier C63 models, just low rent sub 3 series cars in many ways, saved by cool engines. Big step down from an E39 interior I think you just need an E39 M5.
-
1 pointI'd put the dealer on notice regarding the problem in writing. Then get it to the closest BMW dealer or specialist to have the fault properly investigated. Make sure the dealer agrees for you to do this at his cost, or have the vehicle towed back to Auckland for repair at his expense.

1 pointSaw a Stinger on the road for the first time today, they look much better proportioned in reality than they do in pictures. I initially thought it was a quattroporte until got closer! Whereas the new commodore looks like an old hyundai accent crossed with mazda 6

1 pointThe weight reduction process has officially begun. Back seats, spare wheel, rear mud flaps, radio and sub-woofer have all been removed. I have also replaced the heavy electric front seats with some replica Bride seats on NZKW subframes. They seem to be pretty good quality for the most part but I may replace them in the near future with something else if anyone has a strong opinion on the safety of rep seats.. opinions welcome. I will be tracking how much weight I pull out of the car, just need to find something better than a bathroom scale..
-
1 pointMaybe in 10 years time, stuff like the i30N and Stinger will help change the enthusiast publics opinion, but most people still think beaten up daewoo with the bumper falling off when "korean car" is mentioned

1 pointGet the done professionally, before they get too bad. Sanding it back removes all the protective coating. It's about $180 a pair at clearlights in auckland.
