So I ended up doing a bit of work on the missus car this weekend, New CVT transmission, new brake pads, rotors etc But lacking a G-clamp of all things, and had issues compressing with leverage alone between rotors and old pads - I had to dig deep with innovation Thought some might find this funny, if not down right legendary This weighed 15kg however, bloody heavy to lug up there !

Joined up a little bit ago so thought I'd finally say hello. Got my E82 135i LCI early last year, this is my first BMW and absolutely love the thing. It came with a performance exhaust, endcc front lip and Breyton race GTS-R wheels. In the time I've had I've added a Wagner intercooler, FTP intercooler piping, MHD stage 1+ tune and M3 front arms, will look at maybe doing the rear arms and subframe bushes at a later stage. Really happy with the performance. Interior wise I've wrapped some of the trim in alcantara and swapped out the center trim for 1M pieces. Also changed out to some Nelson Racing Wheel paddle adapters with Pedal Haus paddles, much nicer feel over the factory paddles. Audio wise I came across an E82 at zebra that had some plug n play focal front speakers and Rockford fostgate rear speakers, sub wise I chucked in some logic7 subs, cheap and cheerful sound upgrade until I can afford to put in an amp. Maintenance wise changed the troublesome oil filter housing gaskets and got pedantic with the water pump/thermostat and changed those. Next up to look at a weepy gearbox sump ?

Haha. I dont know the previous owner is crying so much, sure the interior ain't for everyone but rest of the upgrades + better engine make it a far better car than the average wagon.

I just brought an old diesel for gravel road driving. I'm pretty sure it has killed 37 Dolphins worth of wildlife on its own. I'll pay some more tax to create a balance..

Today is the first day of my 4th week. And I'm working from home - spreading cold germs around the office is frowned upon! It's been quite tough... My boss - the GM of the council, so 2ic - has some strong preconceptions around what needs to happen and the outside agencies that will be used. She could be right, but I'm not being given time to investigate and check. It's all go, go, go. Fortunately some suppliers are being a touch lax about their delivery schedules which gives me a bit of breathing space, and she's on leave for a couple of weeks. I'm keen to make progress, but not having her looking for updates every five minutes is a relief. I'm new, she's ensuring I 'fit' the role I was recruited for - it'll all be fine. In parallel, I've since been offered 3 roles - a BoP Strategic transformation role, IS Program Director in Palmy, and another in Wanganui! Where were these people when I was looking for so long???!!!

On the weekend I found some decent condition front seats to replace those ratty ones. I've never really been for leather, but they were the best seats in all 5 pick-a-part/zebra-u-picks in Auckland, they seem pretty comfy and they'll match the leather door cards. So took a portion of the interior apart to give the car a semi clean before it goes for a WoF this weekend - the car seems to have been pretty unloved so it took a while to get it looking semi decent. I also took the sagging headliner off as i'll be retrimming it in a little while - but at least now i don't have to lean my seats that low to drive it anywhere. I started fitting the new seats into the car when I found that someone had raided the donor car and took the forward/backward sliding adjustment cable out from the driver's seat. Not the biggest deal, because i've got a spare cable in the old seats, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to disassemble the seat controls from the seat to take the old cable off. Does anyone have advice or a link to a guide for forward/backward seat adjustment cable replacement? I can't find anything about these manual seats on the internet...

Not a BMW, but the driving skill on show here is just amazing. In socks no less! Car looks like it is trying to kill him on every single corner.

and thats what we were told...buying a diesel was supposed to be a good idea in the Co2 output stakes.

Hi all About a month ago I picked up a 2009 E91 335i LCI in alpine white! Loving it so far. Relatively high kms at 150,000 but it's a dream to drive with no noisy turbos/wastegates or any other funny noises. It's getting tinted this week and I have a charge pipe kit which I will match with a k&n drop in filter. Then potentially MHD stage one and Aplina transmission flash if anyone can help with this?

Spent most of the week-end moving wheels and tyres between various BMWs, taking my race wheels and semi-slicks off the 'vert while it's parked up over winter and putting the Alpina reps with the knackered tyres back on it - two of which were on the race car, swapped some bigger wheels on the wife's 116d to see what they look like and if they rub, had to take the front wheel off the wagon to change over the brake wear sensor. Sneaky new design (different from the E30 to the E46 - so not really "new"), means you HAVE to replace the sensor or the light on the dash doesn't go out, grr. No more putting the slightly worn old one back in. And scraped some more underseal off the race car, so it'll be nice and light.. lol.

If you wanted to incorporate an arm workout into a brake job then its not a bad idea. If you wanted to skip the most of the workout but still remain a rugged kiwi then a longish flat blade screw driver would have been the better option.

This is one of the better thread derailments in recent memory To the OP, stop driving a turbo six. Take the train. But only if its got good occupancy, is locally assembled, the driver is paid a living wage and has good conditions... and make sure its not one of them filthy diesels.

Removal, or modification, of any emissions equipment on a vehicle SHOULD result in a WoF fail under current rules. Unfortunately there are so many poor and/or easily influenced inspectors these things don’t get picked up. Hopefully all the current reviews by the NZTA will improve the implementation of the rules, with tighter controls to come in future.

Don't be a pussy. Rip out the cats, they're a choke on the system and probably aren't doing a lot after so many years.

Hi WYZEUP, we changed the dimensions a little of our kit and now this problem is solved. Before the update, depending of your knuckles models you have centre or a little rearward in some case. So we revise it to be center at minimum and for who have a little more caster in their knuckles/chassis will be more forward, the same way as the evo's E36 have more caster. This is a better compromise. Now if you have the old version and want the upgraded version, please contact us ( email is easier ) to get the new revision for free ! That's our quality policy !

Last test I saw was around 45nm. So about as useful as dragging your foot on the ground

The breakaway torque on them is unbelievably low. Completely useless. The only "cheap" lsd was the old OBX units but they stopped making them for bmws, could modify them to work nicely (Honda guys still do)

I didn't do anything but I let a mate take my 325 to the car club for a hoon and the silly old car decided coolant wasn't it's thing I guess that's part of the e36 game, I didn't really have time to test the car properly and I have a complete hose kit for it but didn't fit it ?
