It's still a good one. And could be a primo example with minimal work. Well looked after E30's have still had the sh*t thrashed out of them. Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying. They were designed to be thrashed. That is also why we love them.

Well bugger me if she isn't an Msport. Sharp price OP. I offer my services to inspect and test drive if anyone out of town is interested.

I also replaced the tired looking kidney grills, they look worse in person than the photos (much like the rest of the car actually). And too yellow. With these matte black ones which fit perfectly and I think look great... Seems I need to adjust my bonnet a little. ?

If it thinks the door is open because of a worn switch it drops the glass down a bit so that when you close the door it lifts the glass again and it seals into the rubber properly. Try it with the door open, then push the door switch in all the way with a screwdriver, if the glass lifts back up your switch needs changing.

Thought I'd share this with the group as it may spark some nostalgic interest. Was given to me from my neighbour. Twelve A2 art prints from the '80s or '90s im guessing. Now to find a wall to show them off on. Oh, wine bottle for scale too.

I think forums need a warning the last reply was so many years ago message. But I appreciate people are searching and contributing. It could be worse. It could be Facebook groups where the same questions get asked every week because the search is useless and the knowledge just gets lost. And it is not searchable outside of Facebook. The Facebook era will be a massive loss of info when it finally dies one day.

I might try these guys for the 130 (paint has been punished): http://www.mobilecarspecialists.com/car-detailing.html - and they're honest about the benefits of ceramic coatings. They come to you and charge less than $100 for ceramic "nano" coating after they've done a cut and polish. Which is the proper price point, not $700. Looks like for $349 + $89 I can get a cut, polish, detail, wax and ceramic coating. For $440 it's probably worth a punt. Anyone used them? Experience?

Yeah, I’ve had several. highest mileage was an AU XR6 Ute at over 650,000km when I sold it. All original but first gear synchro wasn’t too flash. I know where this Ute is and am gonna try and buy it back in a couple of weeks. next was an AU Fairlane at 570 ish k then a whole lot between 530k down to 80k. no major dramas. The odd wheel bearing, tie road end etc as expected. Easy to work on, parts are cheap asf, great long distance cruisers and they just go forever. As with most cars that have aged by time or mileage they aren’t without their faults but compared to anything Euro from the last 15-20 years they’re a walk in the park.

Had an EL falcon xr6 in the family from new, did 385,000 km before I sold it, the only things that ever failed were bushes, balljoints and shocks at between 200 and 300, an intake manifold gasket at 350,000km and a coil at 370,000. Just did fluids and 2 batteries apart from that.

Before the rise of the Toyota Hybrid, thousands and thousands of Aus and kiwi taxi operators kept going back to the Falcon for decades. 12 years on and there are still BF wagons getting around in Aussie as cabs. Enough said.

Not really, another friend had a bf for 130,000k with zero going wrong. My uncle ran a Territory Turbo for 140,000k with nothing wrong either, but keep up the generalising.

Great generalisation. I’ve done 74,000k in the Falcon and replaced the diff bush only apart from servicing. A mate is on his second Ranger, after 134,000k combined, he’s had a window regulator fail under warranty. 135i/335i owners please step up with “routine” maintenance.

The loss I just realized on my M5 was painful. That was the hardest part of the sale to be honest. $20k depreciation. $4k warranty, maybe $5k in maintenance? Then cost of fuel. All for just over 3 years and 26k kms.

What ‘s ride and handling got to do with anything, it’s all about being super low and mega stanced and hella flush isn’t it?

I'm not sure where these bibles are, or who writes them, but I think in this instance they are incorrect. The last of the DTM E30 M3s (the greatest E30 of all time) ran 18"s, there are a number of E30 M3 road cars (mainly in the US and Europe) that are running 18's and look awesome. And possibly the coolest looking E30 in NZ, Hybrids Tech1 is running 18" BBS LMs which are absolutely spot on in terms of size and fitment.
