4 pointsJust follow the 130i post in the Trademe section of the forums. Every half decent 130i gets posted in there. So much going on. Accidental Purchases. Full Trademe ad analysis'. All sorts.

3 pointsThat silver one with 87km for $17,500 has been for sale at least 2.5 years - I looked at it in late 2017 before buying a GTI in January 2018 and owning it over 18 months then buying my E46 which I've had for a year now. So yes, overpriced Manuals come up reasonably regularly in the $9k to $12k range and are good buying at that money IMO. Theres a blue one on TM for $11k with 147km - from what I've heard the N52 is a very solid motor so should handle the miles just fine. If you like your car and it is low miles, I believe Hell BM can convert it to manual for you for a similar price to selling it and buying a manual...

2 pointsHey all, Currently have a '07 130i auto. Love the car and especially the n52, I've owned it for a year but lately been feeling that some extra 'feel' is missing when driving. So I've been looking into manual versions of the 130i and im thinking i might go test drive a few to see what they're like when lockdown is over. (would like to hear anyones opinion if they've driven both auto and manual) The thing is, i picked my auto up last year for $8k with 95,000 kms on it, now looking into manual versions, there are a few available at the moment with 73,000kms and 87,000 kms on them for around $17,000 (both from a importer/dealership) Is that just the standard price for manual 130's now? or is $17k wayyyyy too overpriced and im better waiting until some other manual 130s go up for sale? Just seems weird that mine is fundamentally the exact same car but i paid less than half of the price of current manuals with similar-ish kms on them?...

1 pointLooks like a lot of car for the money indeed - bit of maintenance, factory manual, BBS wheels, LSD... https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/2743690663?bof=PqDPPFDP Interior tidy up and you could be in business. Paint looks good in pics. Really like this green (Boston?) on an E36, would be my colour pick after Estoril Blue.

1 pointAfter checking with the local dealership today and then picking myself off the floor, I thought I would try here. Does anybody have any? Ideally two, but at least one. Cheers.

1 pointThis is why they lost the war! No tweeters.. but tweeter pods.

1 pointYes, a family friend borrowed it before lockdown and they've apparently fallen for it. Son is a car nut so won't let it run on rubbish! ? It's not locked in yet but it's looking that way...

1 pointCheer up fella's! If I spot a good seat prior to doing something about it myself I'll go that route but I'll let you know what I end up doing either way so someone can claim victory. My FCP order is currently stuck in Honolulu. Hoping to have before the weekend but losing hope. I've also decided I'm going to order a chain tensioner as I've watched too many scary youtube videos ?

1 pointThanks for the suggestion. I have looked up realoem but Im trying to avoid purchasing overseas if possible. It is common for these rubber mountings to break When changing the filter. i was surprised local dealer didnt have any in stock. i would be happy with good used ones if anyone has them.

1 pointMore preparations... Yeah I know, I didn’t have lifting gear amongst my collection of tools. Last time I pulled an engine of my own, it was block-and-tackle over a gatepost archway and GST was 10%! ?

1 pointDave, go and do the reading, draw yourself a Venn diagram. Guns have no rifling. We have firearms laws - not gun laws. It's an important distinction. All guns are Firearms. All rifles are Firearms. Not all Firearms are guns. Handguns have a special distinction in New Zealand as they are (appropriately) very heavily controlled, and the privelige of ownership is extended to very few. There's a great deal of precision required around Firearms handling and use, and this is a *good thing*. You want precision, and safety. You wouldn't want eejits handling firearms without having taken the trouble to learn, be examined (and vetted) as to their capability to handle and use firearms safely and responsibly. Sadly, there are many with opinions (usually informed by One News or Stuff (or worse), who've not bothered to investigate or learn, or understand; and yet continue to advance ill-informed and irrational (and emotive) positions on Firearms in New Zealand. If we applied this thinking to other areas, the consequences are lessened. If a wowser doesn't get the difference between a Lager, an IPA, and an RTD, who cares? With Firearms, there's personal safety at stake. Imagine a repeated rant from a Prius-hugging greenie that all modified cars are bad, LVVTA should be abolished, and all non-standard cars should be crushed immediately cos they're unsafe and driven by lunatics. You'd hope to nudge these people in the direction of learning and understanding.

1 pointSorry, should’ve been a bit clearer. Its the two rubber like nuts that mounts the oil filter housing to the body. I’ve been told that cotton reels is the technical term for them ?. Its for m60 engine but they might be universal? Local dealer wants an obscene amount each and they are ex-Germany. They cant provide delivery time either, other than they will turn up eventually ?

1 pointYeah i think i noticed that silver one with 87kms back when i was looking for what was to be mine last year haha Tbh, hadn't even crossed my mind doing a manual conversion. My car seems in decent shape and im happy with the kms on it. I've just messaged Hell BM and will see what they come back with. Thankfully I don't have to do hardly any daily/stuck in traffic driving so thats another draw to getting a manual as well Appreciate the advice guys!

1 pointManaged to get some garage time over the week-end, in between doing other jobs. Put my spare set of 4 x 100 15" wheels with rubbish tyres onto the convertible so the new Hankooks don't get flat spotted over the winter. Saves having to drag the car out for a short spin around the block every month or so, which I think is better in the long run. Managed to finally get the fan off the E46 touring, thanks to the purchase of a new, longer 32mm combination spanner and a good whack with the hammer. So now have got the old belt off and cleaning up some of the oil and crap that's around the front of the engine before chucking the new belt on. Also managed to attack a few more areas of the bodywork on the race-car, slowly making progress... will update the seperate project thread for that one shortly. Wish I could use the water blaster to get all this yellow pollen off the cars that are parked outside, they are absolutely covered in it now!

1 pointReally the only thing to be careful of if changing the headunit out is if you have anything on the fibre optic MOST bus, as the factory headunit is the controller for it. My car has MOSTbus, but has nothing on it so its a non event, depending on spec you can have things like the factory amp on MOST.

1 pointTook the wheels off the 135i for a deep clean (over a couple of lunchtimes admittedly!) Before and after. My weapons of choice are meguiars wheel brightener and a pot scrubbing pad....

0 pointsOkay, but it still makes "way more sense"? As I'd still need to clean and condition a used seat from a wrecker or pick-a-part, in addition to my time spent gathering tools and driving to and from pick-a-part (or a wrecker) to un-bolt and pay for a seat base. And then I'd need to remove the scuffed one from my car, clean years of accumulated crap from beneath it, and install the one from pick-a-part (or a wrecker). In my world it makes way more sense to do less work and wipe on some leather toner with a sponge and save myself time, effort, and "probably" money. And as you rightly point out, I'll have the gear on the shelf that allows me to take care of things like leather steering wheels in a way that I can't with a surplus scuffed leather seat base. Of course, your mileage may vary.
