Another anniversary. 10 years today. The last two years have been the hardest two years in my life and I'm still a non smoker. I'd hate to be addicted with the cost of those products these days. How many other achievers are there out there ?

Cleaned the car, and produced a little bit of low level car porn ?

I succeeded in installing the new arch liners today, not a terribly difficult job once you've lined everything up and it looks so much better now and they don't flap around in places. I ordered 2 x Turner Motorsport undertrays in the first lockdown (April) and they only arrived the other week. I realised they were on backorder but June slipped to July which slipped to August and then September so I did start to get a little concerned but they arrived well packed in the end, Turners aren't a particularly high risk. But my install attempt failed, they missed sending a rivnut tool with my order but no worries, mate has a mechanical rivnut gun. No bueno. The mandrel on the gun is too short for the longer rivnuts included in the pack and there's no way in hell I can get enough leverage to squeeze the handles to collapse the smaller nuts (which are stronger than the long ones). They've posted the tool and that should be here by next weekend. I have another method to try tomorrow which is essentially the same approach as their tool, we'll see how that goes. Both involve nuts, bolts, spanners and ratchets and, whilst more complex to arrange than with a gun tool (barely) you can lean on a spanner or ratchet assembly so much easier. Regardless, the tray and accompanying hardware is excellent and they've fixed all of the design problems of earlier trays (such as the Motion Motorsport one). I've been waiting so long for a good one. I got two so perhaps I can sort a pattern part? ?

Car failed its warrant today. Excessive play in right from rack end. order placed with fcp euro for the Lemförder tie rod kit. Great value at 104 usd for left and right plus boots. And the fcp lifetime warranty.

Picked up this last weekend - wife's new car which will also become our 'main' car for road trips etc. After initially looking at MK6 GTIs she saw an A5 and was sold, not wanting a 'Mom car' hatchback as we have no kids. So picked up a Black A5 3.2 V6 Quattro S-Line (I couldn't sway her to a Bimmer) Very good looking car IMO, love the Quattro and moves better than I thought it would with the V6 and tiptronic (not a light car, obviously) - hustles along nicely and sounds good with 265hp. Pretty decent GT / Cruiser. The interior is really nice, especially with the super comfy yet supportive S-line seats in black leather / dark grey alcantara. loads of tech compared to my E46 of course - Audi drive select / MMI 3G / Bang and Olufsen sound, parking sensors etc. Wheels are 19" OEM S5 painted in a dark gloss metallic anthracite / bronze - not really my cup of tea, but looks good. Low speed ride is a bit jiggly though, maybe due to 255/35's all-round / sports suspension. Already found an oil leak and got a CEL for O2 sensor which dealer will be sorting - haha - Euro life. No plans to mod as its not really mine but will be doing a few minor bits: Polish and wax / sealant Wireless carplay box which works with the MMI system Audi Euro Plate 'RS5' style mesh grille Chrome delete of the window surround It needs some more aggressive offset wheels to fill the arches but doubt will change

@Jacko i was actually about to make a mention on something about exactly this, I used to run edge 5w40, by 3500km i chewed through 1l, so 1l top up, and then in 2000km that 1l was chewed up, top up -> then lucky if i got another 1000km out of it before top up. I switched to Penrite HPR, it's been 5400km since the fill and have just chewed through my first litre, which is substantially better than 3500km on the edge, hard to say 100% for sure right now, but if i make it to my 7,000km oil interval without having to top up, this pretty much would suggest that Castrol Edge oil integrity breaks down quicker than penrite HPR in a substantial way. No real leaks either to add to usage, sump is relatively dry, oil cooler gasket is dry, block is dry,. Just the od "seepage" here and there in common places.

I would like to know this as well - I need an armorplate screen and RH coupe glass. I'm resigned to getting a SH drivers door glass and polishing it to as new, but a new screen is preferable. There's plenty of green tint FL glass over in Germany, both with and without a top tint band, but from memory it cost an M325i owning member here something like $1500 for the exercise. No chance of getting anything out of BMW SA anymore, they don't manufacture like they did when they were outputting CKD cars.

Two batteries installed and coded, and 13 litres of HPR5 dumped in. What I have noticed in moving from Castol 5W30 LL01 to Penrite HPR5W40+10 is that oil consumption seems to be reduced a lot, dumping a litre into the 330 and 500ml into the 130 in a 7000km oil change cycle used to be normal.. and I havent had to top up between the last 3 oil changes. Found the 330 is dribbling from the oilcooler gasket, at near identical km to when the 130 did it, so new gaskets, belts, idlers ordered.. ..

Yeah, agreed, but its all about the street cred... and no spoiler on the back just makes the end of an E87 look like the ass of a dog with a docked tail.

I might grab one in the future, Ill add it to my list of not atrocious e87 spoilers. I wonder if any of these stop the insane amount crap that gets sucked onto the hatch

I reckon this is one of Audi's best designs. Great looking coupe. I do know someone who had to replace their motor (2.0T) in one of these, but since it seems OK (6+ years), the FWD is a bummer in his. Quattro V6 must be quite a nice package! Don't worry, she'll curb them soon, then just repaint silver when you fix them!

He was probably the one who overvalued that one. He valued a LHD RX7 at 80k which is madness.

Old, torn, worn, tired and broken arch liners out... all the guards checked and swept, no rust at all, just 24 years of crap and some fat spiders... Fresh OE liners with all new hardware ready to go in... Ohh, what's that in the bottom corner @sweetm3? ?

Have you thought about going to shadowline window trim? Modernises the car so much, and is in keeping with your iS tribute theme. Best way to do it is leave the silver trim on there and have it wrapped in vinyl - easier than finding used shadowline that will invariably be bent well out of shape.

Haven't driven her for a couple of weeks now but this afternoon I turned her around to tackle the parcel tray. Got two coats on tonight, it's going to take a lot more coats that I thought but if I recoat a few times tomorrow it should be good to go back in on Sunday. Also picked up some touch up paint. My main focus is going to be front bumper but that's a tedious job for another day!

Hate to rain on the parade but that's their perpetual sale, they just rename it from time-to-time. When they don't have the sale the "normal" prices are close the the 40% off deal. It's totally illegal but any complaints are just likely to lead to higher prices. I've had 4 x tyres in my basket there since Feb and the name of the sale changes but the price never does.

Yeah sorry got mixed up. Personally i don't see that much more added value in a short period even though you've done good work on it. Id have see multiple good examples ones actually sell for 30k+ to acknowledge that is where the current market has priced them.
  24. 1 point
If you can sell it for 38k then congrats. Robs old one is listed 25k. 4 door but seems realistically priced.
