2 pointsBut, but, but every car from the U.K. is a rust bucket, because they put salt on the road. Every car from Japan has sat in traffic for millions of hours and has been clocked. And every car from Singapore has electrical problems because of the humidity..., etc. Because the internet’s says so. Short term, the country of origin and hence known history, would probably be more important. Longer term things like the kms, no of owners and general condition would become more important. An import of any brand from any country is always valued lower than a similar car (all other factors being equal) than an NZ new, by any vehicle dealer and by the majority of the market from my experience.

2 pointsIt's been on the list for a while and this jan i started to prep my Style 42 wheels for refurb. The goal is to remove the failing clear coat, and respary the faces to get them looking as good as possible on a budget so DIY prep and paint is the pathway and being realisitc some marks wont come out, so perfection is not the goal but a set of wheels hat look good that i did in my garage with help from some friends The thing that spurred me into action was a kyte flying accident (fall at pace) which saw me end up with a concussion and more than several weeks (still ) off work. This time has allowed me to chip away at the prep (very) slowly as I wasnt able to do much of anything else especially screen related or out side for more that 10 -20 mins. More recently as I've recovered slightly i worked with a mate to seperate the wheel faces from the barrels and these were taken to Advanced Chrome Platers in Hamilton for refinishing, removing 98% of the curbing and failed clear coat leaving a polished finish on the 20 year old wheels more updates to come as paint get laid next week all going to plan. - bottom wheel sanded, ready for seperation; - Rattle gun to easily remove BBS bolts, reassembly will be with Kit Gloves! - Example of completley failed clear coat - 76 wheel face bolts, hand polished - Newley polished Lip Preped faces with skimmed edges to remove slag and other nasty deposits after year of grime and weather exposure I've also applied some filler on the larger stone chips

2 pointsHi all, I owned a showroom modified Datsun 240z 25 years ago, and never got over selling it. Then I found a 2 seater, straight 6, modernish coupe. The Z4 E86. I love this car. 6 weeks into ownership I've installed Ray's Homura 2x7 19" wheels, on 235/35 fronts and 265/30 rears and did the sound generator mod.

First post, member for some time when I had a 2007 335 Coupe but never posted and moved it on as I'm a liitle less able to climb in and out of them as I used when "I wore a younger man's clothes"!! Moving on a few years and I'm back where I belong. 2001 740i in Titan Silver with black leather. Had a 2001 in Anthracite with grey Nappa leather back in Aus but sold it when we retired over here just over 7 years ago. Regretted the sale ever since. Fast forward to today when I picked this up. Came down from the North Island. One owner, 88k on the clock and M pars factory supplied. All original paperwork with vehicle from Shelley BMW in Wellington, $160k new!! Absolutely beautiful with only a few niggly things to fix. Cheers Archie

1 pointBeautiful Car - don't let it go for less than what you really want! There are not many about in NZ that achieve the near-unicorn status of this one. I wouldn't be surprised if the "right" buyer would pay circa $50k for this example. Good luck with the sale, and please let us know how you get on. Cheers Paul

1 pointThat will become clear when it's hit. Not far away though. Will be interesting to see what it goes for, although offers are coming thick and fast (including a possible NSX swap!), so it may end up withdrawn before then.

1 pointDecided to finally tackle the rust on the roof today. There was sizable bubbling on the rear right above the windscreen, and under both sides right above the side window trim in that little channel. Removed the window seal and here's what I was up against: So masked the car up And sanded it down as best I could. Hit the rust with Brunox Then painted the lot and cleared It's not my best work, but seeing as I was working with spray cans, outside, and had to get it done all in one day, I'd say it came out alright enough to get the job done. I am planning on wet sanding it in a couple of days and then cut and polishing to hopefully blend the paint into the rest of the roof. Will update on how that goes.

1 pointYes, this one certainly ticks quite a few boxes! I see that $40,000 is the starting bid, no yellow reserve flag is showing at that price, so the reserve is currently not met, and unknown.

1 pointI think it's just BMW NZ that tries to upsell the value of NZ New, for obvious reasons. Once the warranty and service plan is up, the ownership experience is no different to any other BMW.

1 pointMy trips around that trail were over 40 years ago. It was a different time in the Wairarapa. People in town had just started to lock their doors. Farmers never did lock their doors. A lock gate was the exception. There was normally are gun (22 or shot gun) behind the back door at farm houses so it was handy to sort out the rabbits and magpies. I travelled the Wairarapa extensively at that time as an appliance serviceman/electrician. A CF Bedford van on gravel roads was always fun.

1 pointthis model has a cas module. you need proper software and tools to program key. I can program keys for all euros and Japanese cars. you can post your cas module to me and i can code and cut new key for you. else you can try a locksmith. though I am in Auckland in a few weeks and can do one while you wait.

1 pointYuss... I have done the Ocean Beach to Wainui and Eastborne to Wainui coast rides. Often went from Red Rocks to Oteranga Bay or as far as it was possible to get depending on which gates were open and the state of the tide. Having to wait for the water to withdraw and make a dash across wet pebbles before the next wave swept up to the base of the cliff was part of the deal Not making it meant a long walk home !! Adventure riding / touring is an awesome way to see any country and I highly recommend it to anyone who gets the opportunity. Cheers...

1 pointYes, I did the Ngawi to White Rock ride a few times in my youth back in the 80's on Honda XR 250's and 500's. Lots of fun, but you did need to take extra fuel with you. It was a bit like going in the other direction and doing the Ocean Beach to Esatborne beach ride. There was a locked gate at the Eastborne end. Time it for low tide and you just went around it on the beach.

1 pointAction pictures !!! Looks like you had a lot of fun... the South Island has a ton of great tracks to explore, not to mention the country pubs . There are some great rides in the North Island also but getting more difficult to gain access. Used to be able to ride from Ngawi to White Rock around the coast but there are locked gates now. Cheers...

1 pointAs above, it's the RACP (rear-axle carrier panel) itself that has the issue, not the subframe. 1 pointGave the car a full detail, been holding off on this for a while until I had some panel and paint done and redid the seats. Got a few nice snaps as well - used a polarizer for the reflections which worked great. Wash with Carpro Reset Wheel clean with Meguiars wheel cleaner Polyshave (clay block) Rinse and dry Hand polish with Menzerna 2400 Solution finish trim restorer and Fireball tire wax Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Wax Carpro Elixer to finish

1 pointSince I live my life a quarter mile at a time I decided to upgrade my neons. This new setup uses led strips with 60 leds per meter, as opposed to my old setup which used 30 leds per meter (now twice as bright so twice the street cred). The led strips are addressable meaning you make make then do all kinds of stuff not even seen in the new Need for Speed. I put together the whole thing custom including the wiring harness (and no, I won't sell you one because I don't want anyone stealing my thunder (or should I say lightening) at a car meet). The end result is this: NFS-final.mp4 Also a final shot showing off the interior lights as well which are hooked up to turn on when the doors open.
