I've been trying to chase an annoying rattle coming from the engine bay when giving it some jandal since I bought this car in 2015. I had literally been through everything I could think of including opening up the engine, checking timing, bleeding lifters, compression test etc etc. It turn out the rattle was coming from loose exhaust manifold nuts FFS. lol. Of the 4 nuts i could access on bank 1, 2 were quite loose, and one wasn't even finger tight. I still need to check the other 4 nuts but for now the rattle has completely gone. This is a very good example of troubleshooting from the most complex and expensive part first and working your way back to the easiest and cheapest, which is very wrong. I feel like a F*cking plonker, but at the same time I'm very happy!

Here is my totally stock looking BMW 335i , with the N55 engine. Video of it running 11.988 1/4 mile, time slip in pics. https://youtu.be/5_1FZIZZT8k?t=139 Mods: VRSF Downpipe, intercooler, hybrid turbo, custom tune.

Trying to boost it either way (turbo or super charger) is going to be expensive to do it badly, and very expensive to do it properly. If its your daily driver then time off the road for dicking around with the build and / or issues down the track would also be something to think pretty hard about. Best advice with my sensible old man pants on would be to work on that debt you have and enjoy the car for what it is until you are in a better position to FULLY plan and cost out the build before picking up a spanner.

I wasn't sure that the charging time was correct, so I double checked with the fact sheet. iX Charging.pdf The 54 hour charging time is only when using the 3-pin contingency charger, which you would only really do if you were stuck somewhere away from home or a charging network. Using a wall-box charger on single phase you can get 7.4kw supplied to the car (just under 30 amps) which is a more realistic time - as tbh if you have an EV like this you need a home or office wallbox to charge from, without the need to add in 3-phase power. It is possible to open the bonnet, but this is intentionally restricted as you don't really want people poking around in a high voltage area if they don't know what they are doing.

When I were a lad, my Dad bought a Renault 18, brand new. At one point it’s favourite trick was to switch itself off completely, at random intervals, whilst driving along. Very funny to look back on, but bloody scary when you’re in the back seat of a car doing 70mph and it decides to shut itself down.

These are dropping like a stone, and they can't drop much further... such amazing value for what you get. I still miss mine. You (almost definitely) won't be disappointed.

For a car that appears to have very nice seats it sure does spark some huge controversy.

Just had a read of the comments, sounds like he has a nice bit of kit. Liquid yellow (my favourite for Meganes), the Recaros too and its a 265. Would be quite the weapon. However I think I'll be sticking with the 207 as the primary daily for now, have a few things coming up that require me to be boring and responsible with money over the next few months unfortunately.

@Kees ONLY a 997.2… haha that’s an amazing car. My Mum drives a Golf and I was happy with that until now I know a guy selling a 2015 RS265 Megane in P North, well I know of him as he offered me that as a trade on the GP. See the comments. He might be willing to sell it your way.

Not quite a 991, only a 997.2 Carrera S. Is a 6 speed manual and the last generation with hydraulic steering though and it is also unfortunately not mine It's my mother's former daily driver, now a weekend toy as she daily drives a Smart Fortwo! The neighbour's roll their eyes with the plethora of unique and strange vehicles that frequent the house 🤣

Update. I've driven it a few times since installing the new gear knob, a little over 100kms. It occurred to me today how much nicer the tactile experience is. It's better matched with the steering wheel. Let's face it, with just over one hundred neddies beneath the hood, one changes gear often! This is a much more pleasant place to be. I also installed - at last - the CTEK quick connect/battery monitor adaptor. Should have done it 16 months ago!

Yup. I'm working with eRoad, Navman, Blackhawk and others. Folks using those systems will be happy - their monthly bill will (temporarily) drop. They don't buy in advance as the systems automatically order RUCs for them.

In 96 the moved from the m60b40 v8 to m62b44. 4ltr to 4.4,also updated the block from nikasil to alusil. Nikasil suffered bore degradation due to hi sulfer content fuel that was present in Europe and the US in the early 90s. The shenitser bit would be the difference. E39 5 series are pritty cheap check value of standard one comparison to shenitser.

So today was the day. My iX build order is in and confirmed as BMW New Zealand order number 32! Currently looking at a May/June delivery. Pretty excited, not going to lie! My order specs are below: * Xdrive 40 MSport * Mineral White Metallic (A96) * 22" Aerodynamic wheels 1020 Bicolour 3D (1LD) * Amido Black Leather Interior (SCHA) * ENHANCEMENT PACKAGE - Sky Lounge Panorama Roof (407) - Soft Close Doors (323) - Laser Lights (5AZ) * Active Ventilated Seats (453) I had the option to forward purchase a dealer demonstrator but that car has the crystal interior appliques which I really don't like and lacks ventilated seats. I figured I'd be better served just ordering the spec I want. A few pics from the configurator are attached.
