3 pointsInterior refurb is about to kick off with Fabric being ordered today. Flip flopped to using the original OEM Lemans BMW Anthracite Uberkaro as ended up being cheaper (and faster) than an Internationally sourced reproduction fabric, plus they have the matching bolster fabric too. Will be doing door cards and front and rear headrests in Uberkaro as well so will be a lot of plaid! Should kick off next week. I have some of these Mtechnic seat badges en route as well but wondering if it will be a bit overkill with the pattern?

2 pointsPretty sure none of them had a lsd. It was not a factory option.

2 points125's occasionally pop up, same basic engine as a 130 just detuned to not make stock 135s look slow (its only software) on the forecourts, and coupe body. I suspect pricing will remain fairly static, 135s are enthusiasts cars... probably get 2 groups of buyers - those who dont know what theyve bought and then suddenly get slapped with repair bills, and the enthusiasts where logic goes out the window when it comes to gas prices etc. 130 Vs 135 pricing is weird, 130s are awesome undervalued which makes them great buying (likely due to the odd styling, and people thinking a 120 is the same thing). 130s are way rarer than 135s, I saw something like 60k 135s produced Vs 14k 130s. Havent seen 125 numbers, but suspect rarer again. If you are not specifically after a N54 and going silly fast, I wouldn't overlook a 123d, manual one would be rocking horse sh*t but they do exist and would be great little car. 2c.

1 pointIt's a terrible road. Not one bit of it I enjoy. Car groups love "Cruising" over it for some reason. What would you like to be stuck behind that won't pull over? Endless options.
-
1 pointAs far as Im aware, its across whole model range. LCI cars can have e-LSD coded as factory option, its sh*t.
-
1 pointOh, I didn't know that, is it a blanket rule of thumb across their range? Interestingly the LSD claim has been removed, I had read it when this car was posted earlier. It's still mentioned in the Q&A.

1 pointWheel Fix It on the Shore will paint, and GT Refinishes in Penrose. I've used both, for a full repair I'd use the former, for painting alone I'd use the later. I wouldn't say either were the "best available" but still delivered good results for me.
-
1 pointConsider acid dipping or media blasting to remove the paint. Then get it painted rather than powder coat if you want a shiny finish (especially if you want it a gunmetal metallic type of colour)

1 pointThese guys seem to have put a bit of thought into the design of an intercooler setup that will handle track work. Getting maximum airflow through the cooler by using a bit of cunning ducting is very much a part of racecar design. I don't know how much cutting away of factory plastic is involved, but again, you don't want your bumper/number plate etc interfering with airflow. http://www.evolutionracewerks.com/node/50 Cheers...

1 pointSpent 2hrs 45mins sitting at the Remutaka Summit on Sat night in the 130i. Ran over a fresh rock fall on the way up heading to Wellington. A swerve saved me from serious underbody damage. But ran over some of the small stuff. A piece of it went straight though the bottom of the tyre and destroyed it. Not that it would have saved me. But the can of air and seal failed and would not discharge. Lots of break downs meant I had to wait the 2hrs 45mins to get rescued 15mins from my house. And the tyre size I need is no longer available. So now I have mismatched front and rear which annoys me.

1 pointI sold a mk5 cortina with 298 watchers and 9000 views - only 4 people came to view after 3 weeks listed. I also sold a projector that had 151 views and 6 watchers - sold in 3 days. Only need that one person.

1 pointTalk to Arrow Wheels. They build and repair wheels, have been around for several decades, and all the racing teams I know use them. They’ve done magic with all my wheels, Porsche, Alfa Romeo, and BMW.
-
1 pointGet them powder coated and ask the powder coater who they’d recommend. And shop around. I did mine last year, quotes were from $60-90/wheel for powder coating and $50-85 for blasting. I had one wheel done (blasted) at a place as a cash job that cost $100 (quoted $80, but cash so…), then had to have it redone as the job was so poor. Happy with the powder coating and they have a big range of colours.

1 pointThe petrol does sound great on full throttle in sport mode. Picked up my M340i Touring last week (green one on the other thread) and drove back to the South Island. Fuel economy is great in eco cruise mode with 650km range ...... for a car that has 370hp on tap and 0-100 in 4.5 secs. It was a great drive down (incl the Kapiti coast weather bomb on Thur afternoon) - a no regrets purchase ! Amazing how these 3's have morphed to similar dimensions of the new E60 530i I had back in 2004.

1 pointFinally arrived - 370mm Mtech 2, definitely feels like it belongs to the car. Great original condition which I was after as I’m not a fan of the smooth / perforated / modern leather refurbed that are often done on these. Just gave it a good deep brush clean and added a new roundel. Update: couldn’t resist going a little further and giving it a light refurb with Colourlock Leatherfresh to restore the rich matte black finish without obscuring the grain. Came up really well. Old Mtech 1 wheel sold in 10 mins without even listing it 😂

1 pointDown to the final prototype for the transmission mount ... its been an on again off again piece of work but will be great to have it finalised !! Printing the remaining parts tonight as the printer is not big enough to do it in one shot. I'll be trying to get everything sorted for a single order at the laser cutters so that will involve two pieces for the trans mount in steel, cover for the exposed flywheel on the trans in aluminium and some plywood templates for the new garage entry profile which the concrete lads will use. <-- This could well be another thread in itself 🤣 Went on a bit of an archaeological dig to see how thick my garage slab is ... about 130mm it turns out. Looks like they put the mesh under the concrete which is hopefully the case across the entire thing as it will make life a lot easier for the demo !! Basic story here is that my garage entrance is too steep for the E46 or my Odyssey to get in / out so I'm going to cut away about 1.8m inside and outside of the garage doors then contour it in a nice smooth radius which will be car friendly ... insane right

0 pointsAfter a number of decades for the company, and over a single decade for me personally, today is the last day for BMW Group NZ operating out of the “BMW building” in Pacific Rise, Mount Wellington. From next week BMW NZ HQ will be out of smart new offices in the Mercury Building in Newmarket. Mixed feelings moving out of such an iconic building, synonymous with BMW, but onwards and upwards into the next phase.

0 pointsArrow is probably best, but you'd be looking at about $1600 to have them fully refurbished.
