Did a self driving wine tour in Tuscany today driving a Bright Green Bambina ‘Cinquecento’. Absolute blast and felt like an genuine antique compared to the E30. No gauges aside the speedometer whatsoever, first is good to around 20kmh, 2nd maxes out at 40kmh but then drops you way out of the 3rd gear ‘powerband’. Still a hoot though and managed to avoid stalling at all 💪🏽 Only in Italy will they hire you a car then ply you with wine 🤣

Haven't done much to the car recently, been very busy with university assignments. Car still needs a wheel alignment, but when I saw that kiwi plates now offered black number plates I was intrigued, then I checked and THE 135 was still available so I had to get it. Plates showed up today, went with the standard black slim as I didn't like the black slim euro design. Mounted them with some scotch foam tape, hardest part was getting them straight and centred. Very happy with how it came out though with the black on black. Contemplating removing the silver 135i badge on the boot now, since it is rather obvious that it is a 135i now with these plates.

or add "THE" before the 135i

I would have gone for standard or Euro on the rear, the small one is a bit lost in the space but otherwise the black plates are a great look, and well done on "THE135". I agree with removing the silver 135i, or perhaps replacing it with matt black.

These have a long and chequered history, better known as a "Phantom Grip" if you want to do some research on them.

Yeah good point, I should have checked before. There's only one sensor listed in the parts diagram. sorry! https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=GE22-EUR-12-1996-E38-BMW-728i&diagId=11_1480

You going to be waiting for the Chinese one to turn up anyway and how long that takes is anyone guess?. Id sooner borrow one or buy a second hand one local if i was going parts cannon route. Personally i dont like doing jobs twice so i wouldn't bother to save a such a small amount and waste my time, each to their own.

I'd be up for one of the play days, they seem to be on the calendar for the next few months. Possibly something others would also be interested in?

Drove to Auckland and back over the weekend. Wow are we in for a brutal road construction season (summer). The roads are just wrecked.

When SH5 is shut, some idiot tried the Gentle Annies instead, and ignored the road closed signs in an M850i 🤣

Sat in this fresh off the transporter today, looks nice in real life and snug hunkered down interior. About $112k.
