Hi guys, I’m new here, just bought a pretty original 1986 E30 325i. Really happy with it, and it reminds me of my 1986 318i (mm6046), that I owned 19 years ago, and wished I’d never sold it! I flew to Hamilton to pick it up last weekend, and drive it home to Canterbury, mostly trouble free. It was a great time. Anyway, I’m sure I’ll have plenty of questions coming up, and certainly a few photos too! Looking forward to it!

Sunday garage session. Completed my xenon rebuild today. Light two was a bit more work as I had to replace one of the xenon reflectors. These aren’t available new but managed to get a second hand one from BM WORLD LTD the spare light put up a fight when I came to dismantle it. Being a 06/2001 build it uses epoxy rather than butyl to bind the lens to the body. Out came the power tools. Sorted. Refurbished light is all back together (tested at each assembly phase) and now awaiting an appointment to have paint protection film applied.

lot auctions for anyone confused by a screenshot... https://rmsothebys.com/en/home/lots/mu22 The '93 318iS JTCC at less than half the price might have been the bargain of the auction though - very vague auction intel but easily identifiable car and history.

I have a number of S54 engines with a wide variety of options. It would be best if you tell me what you are going to use the engine for and I can look at the best option. If this is of interest DM me

Looking to purchase a M54B30 engine, currently running a M54B22 in my 2001 e46, any help is appreciated. Also any recommendations for parts/mods moderately/easily obtainable in NZ would be great. Thanks in advance

Thanks for the heads up. I did figure it would be slim odds, but don’t ask, don’t get right! 😂. I did see a supersprint mid and rear move through here I think it was last year from memory but I was too slow on that one!

Was curious so went to look it up, only pricing I could find for both was UK 2006 Z4 3lsi roadster 34000 british peso, 32500 for coupe, 130i 31500 britsh peso (both base manuals).. roughly 2.8 exchange to NZ in 2006. I cant remember where I found it, but my NZ new 130 was 95k NZD with option boxes ticked, which was like $15k+ more than a golf R32... Wonder why they didnt sell very well Soo... 130 under priced or Z4 3.0 over priced.

Hi Regan, M54B30 engines seem to be thinning out a bit lately. There's a few wanted ads on here for them. The ones I've seen come up on Tardeme recently have been quite pricey at around $3k complete. Realistically, they're probably worth around $1K - $1.5K, at least that's what I've paid. Check my thread. I'm going down a similar route - aiming to incorporate aftermarket parts where I feel they make a good upgrade from factory composites, etc. Things amassed so far include, steel pullies (waterpump and powersteer), braided vanos line, alimunium thermostat housing, alimunium cam cover, etc. I'm also swapping to an M50B25 inlet manifold to delete the disa, ccv, etc (I have a 'Seems Legit', {legitimately expensive} conversion kit for that, but will have to make my own hose setup as I didn't want to remortgage). Most of the bits I've bought have had to come from overseas (ECS mostly) with the exception of the Chase Bays vanos line which if I recall was economical to buy locally. The other bits were cheaper offshore, even when factoring in USD$100 shipping per order. Don't forget the clutch kit if you're going manual. Plenty of choice in clutches locally, but I sourced all the bushes, etc from the US again.

The most common cause of this is cracked engine bay partitions. They start cracking and falling apart from the heat. Are yours intact?

Another day, another Tech 2 party 😂 Good little meet up and lunch at Hallertau Clevedon then I kicked on to Kaiaua to stretch the legs. Car really is running great and always relishes being pushed a bit.

Have now finished with my E46 RTAB tool, if anyone else needs to borrow it can probably ship it to them or pick up from Queenstown.

Ok, went with Ulrich. Quote for 4x cut pieces of 10mm Aluminium was $157 plus GST. This was less than Altrus who also quoted. Wouldnt call it bugger all, but was was ok.
