3 pointsMy wheels arrived, delivered straight away by auto form to my work, great customer service. Went with a square set of 235/40/18 tires, decided to go with the Hankook Ventus R-S4 as I have heard many good things about it being a reasonably long lasting grippy semi slick, and managed to get them for $280 a corner through a sale on hyperdrive. Got them fitted and balanced and no scratches on the new wheels which I was very relieved about. Got the m4 brakes mounted on the car with the seems legit garage adapters. Was a pretty straight forward install, just took some trimming of the heat/dust shields, especially on the rear. I ended up cutting a quarter of the front heatshields out to allow the brake ducting to be more effective on the front. The front brakes I used the factory brake ones, the rear brakes I used the m4 ones as they are slightly longer, to account for the much larger discs. As far as sensors go, I have left the original 135i wear sensors and zipped them out of the way, in fitter I may splice the m4 sensors into the 135i plugs. Gave the brakes a bleed with some fresh mogul rbf600. So far it all works great, and looks fantastic with the new wheels, just needs a wheel alignment now. Took the car out for some photos.

3 pointsUpdate - After i was unable to get the car running right it sat for a year while i got busy with other projects, however its back on the "to do" list and ive replaced a couple of coils and cleaned the MAF which made a difference, ECU still throwing MAF errors and there's a slight stumble so have ordered a new MAF. Also have an error that looks related to back pressure at the o2 sensor, the car still has the original mid section with the cats and at 300km theres a good chance they are clogged, so have a new Super sprint midsection to install. The Vano's is a bag of marbles as well, so Ive slowly been collecting parts for a full vanos rebuild and will kick that off shortly.

2 pointsAfter a 2 year hiatus due to family things it was a mad 3 month scramble to get the drift e36 back together with the new gen4 6.0, ecu, wiring, gbox, clutch, exhaust etc etc. Had a few teething issues with the new cam/valve springs and cooling system but managed to get it up and running the day we need to head off for two days of drifting 😰 so loaded up and hoped for the best... and we got it, two days full noise and not a single issue, couldn't believe it lol. Now its time to dial in more rear grip (running a 265/35/18) and find a good solution to upgrade the rearend - diff/axles

2 pointsWhen you arrive to drop off some wheels tyres and the fella says "oh, I thought I was buying a whole car" 🤦♂️

1 pointI bought my square set for $1.5K but they are in original condition so will need refurbishment at some point. Also needed two tyres so were around $2K all up which wasn't too bad I thought. Problem I see with throwing stars: 1) Most E34 owners don't have $7K to spend on wheels. If they can afford the wheels, they probably own an M5 which have them on there already. 2) Because throwing stars are a rare wheel they inherently have some solid BUT its a small market as they only really suit E34s/E31s. HOWEVER, if you do want a set, they are so rare that they are rarely available in NZ which mean you do indeed have to pay up for them and get them from the US. Will be interested to see what these ones go for.

1 pointAbout half the asking I'd say. The way I price things is if something on ebay is at £3000 then it's $nzd3000 I sold my staggered set about the same time as you for $2000

1 pointScrap dealers will take it, i got $10 for my E39 one. Yeah i thought about that UV dye too, haven't really heard of anyone using it in the NZ. With a leak like yours im not sure you will even need it with the transmission out.
-
1 pointGot a lead on an old auto transmission that a dude in Ashburton is willing to give away. Might go for a drive tonight and pick it up. Should have just kept my old one What do I even do with the rest of the transmission after cutting the bell housing off? Would a wrecker's take it for scrap? Also started looking at getting a UV dye kit to make it more apparent. Small bottles available on Amazon and such for like $5, yet the cheapest one I found on these shores is somehow this dodgy sh*t. Anyone know of any more reasonably priced kits out there that don't involve a longer wait?
-
1 pointYou are right, it is a Conti\VDO one from Spareto. Yeah a steel plate could work too but more work i agree. All M4X\M5X engines use the same bell housing pattern iirc, but someone else would know for sure.

1 pointA big thank you to @Cement for sorting the exhaust leak for me today and taking me for a quick blat in the mighty (edition 1 of 1?) VQ37 E46 💪🏽 One less thing on the to-do list!

1 pointI don't have much to add here other than to state the obvious, if fuel consumption is even vaguely on your radar then go and by a Mazda 3. If you want an E61 M5 then buy it, accept that you will spend eye watering amounts not just on gas for the experience but it will be worth it. I drive mine all the time, and I never get tired of looking at it either. If this car does end up in the club it would be nice to get a photoshoot with the three tourings.

1 pointHad been looking for a replacement for the F01 750i for a while, thinking about a G01 or a X3/4 M40i then this X5M in Melbourne Red rocked up for sale. Never been a SUV guy but super impressed by the ride and handling combination this thing gives. Plus add 550hp is a pretty good recipe. Impressive spec interior, sounds great, good tech, nice to have that elevated ride with so many Ute’s etc on the road. If you can’t bet em…. With a big warranty 😁 plus matches the bosses i3 upgrade in Melbourne Red also. Let the fun begin.

1 pointGuys the car is such a smooth/vicious/calm and CRAZY moster. The instant torque from the 6.0ltr to the stripped 36 is AMMMMMAZING. and the sounds one of the best 8s ive heard...not because I constructed the acoustic nature of this beast...ok...annnyway Shes in the shop( HIGHSPEK) for the first time. Lowering the radiator by 20- 25 mm to fit a 4 inch intake and get her prept for the tune. Got some 17s for the rear to start with the real run of loosing/controlling the rear as what BMs were made for...
