None of these ^ methods involves a burnout, so I am skeptical about their effectiveness.

Que @M3_Power; I recall a post that either you wrote or referred to discussing the structural foam reinforcement method at length?

I think BMW made two errors the e46 & e39 systems over other years. First was Midbass treatments on the front going into small enclosure rather than using the door space. Gave limited and strangled upfront mid bass. The second was the bm53/54 using a poor final stage to the amps. Ironically the audio stage before that used opamps used in recording studio mixing boards. On paper they should have been better. Each speaker getting its own amp . Active 3 way front stage.Reasonable dac and preamp stage etc. Ironically the only model with the Midbass advantage was the e46 318ti but tended to have the poverty pack stereo. I sorted my e46 for the same reason above.

Tried CHC BMW, they can order them in but not avail ex Germany till the New Year. Have some ordered with Pelican Parts at USD13+ each and they suggest they will be shipping at the end of the month, once the stock has arrived into their store, however I suspect (and hopefully I am wrong) they are expecting to be able to source from BMW Germany. Pelican Parts also have 4.05mm shims in stock from Volvo which I suspect are the same as the BMW ones, so have ordered some of those too. One way or another I will find some.

Yep. They are not easy to find but worth the wait. I am keen for Alpina staggered as well if I find those. Not cheap obviously.

Personally id goto the wreckers and get them. Maybe get new nuts if you are fussy.

Well, it's 45% more expensive which is certainly significant and in my opinion is a huge difference. BMW NZ's spare parts prices are simply not justifiable. Even when the import rules change next year they'll still be wildly more expensive than overseas options. I realise their stock is really to provide for their dealer networks but it's the very definition of price gouging. If they actually sold parts for a small (reasonable) margin above what BMW Ag charges they could have quite the little side business I would think. But they'd have to get rid of their stupid 3 week delivery timeframe and ship to order.

There are bargains out there, and as you say if you don't ask you will never find. Thats how I found my 18inch Hartges Desgn C for $1800

I think that's why @BM WORLD reacted as they did to the first post... hen's teeth. But nothing ventured, nothing gained so good luck with the search.

I have just done the clearances on my E36, which i believe uses the same part numbers as an E30. Coombes Johnson in Hamilton was happy to supply singles, the sizes i needed were all EX Germany (3 weeks) @ $40 a piece. I ended up sourcing them online at $13US a piece + shipping. if you have the part numbers they are easy enough to find through any of the usual places. if you want any pointers send me a message. unfortunately none of the shims swapped out were that thick either.

yep, that was me ....... guilty as charged. Had an away day from PalmNth. The m3 Touring is a HellBM build and one that has had its fair share of discussion on this very site. We dont get out much, but hoping to change that over the course of the summer.

The bar through the middle, horizontally is a Harness bar for mounting a race harness shoulder straps on. i believe the consensus is not to use normal seat belts with a 1/2 cage on the track. having the bar close to the back of the seat helps to reduce the belt stretch, which can happen when they are fixed to the rear seat belt mounts.

Yikes that's pretty bad for a late model car to catch on fire under the hood. You'd expect this from a 1970 British Leyland heap!
