My S.O had a car accident at the beginning for Feb, and the insurance wrote that car off. After many test drives, we narrowed down the choice to three models. F15 X5 Xd50i, Mercedes GLE 250d 4Matic, Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6 Limited. After much agonizing, we settled on a replacement... the F15 X5 Xdrive 50i ?I didn't grab any photos off the dealer website before they took the car down, so these will have to do for now. It's very well spec'd with some highlights being:* Bang and Olufsen Sound* Surround view* Park assist* Exclusive Nappa Mokka (NAMY)* Fineline Pure textured wood* Interior and Exterior Design Pure Experience* Adaptive suspension pack 'Professional'* Comfort seats with memory* Pano roof* 3rd row searing* Ambient lighting* Soft close doors* HUD* Adaptive LED headlights* Individual Exterior Line - Burnished Aluminium He/She (haven't decided yet) is currently wrapped in matte silver, which looks awesome, and all the chrome has been blacked out (apart from the kidney surrounds). Underneath the paint colour is mineral silver metallic A14.On the second test drive, I took my Surface Pro along and hooked the car up to ISTA+ for a full diagnostic, fully expecting the control unit tree to be lit up lit up like Christmas lights. To my joy, there were only 2 errors, and both had to do with the battery needing replacement. The car is currently being prepped and serviced, and I'll collect it after returning from a business trip next week. Right now I have to go and move our garage shelving around to make sure the 5-er and the 6-er fit side-by-side.

Hi All Just introducing myself. I have a 79 635CSI and an 88 M635CSi. Also in my basement is my brothers Z1. The 79 635 has just had an extensive mechanical detailing and restoration.

Good choice. Looks great. But how the hell was the Jeep even in the running? Living in the US I see many of them. On the back of tow trucks and on the side of the highway.

i had altenzo sports comforters on an old car and nearly slid to my death on a wet day. never again. there is a fine line between quality economy tyres and cheapshit dangerous rubbers pretending to be tyres.

Thought i would post up some photos, of a run-about car i've been tidying up Not a BMW though, however i did get some BMW floor mats for it Body was in rough shape - scratches everywhere, scuffs and dings, photos hide it well - paint ok, but not black enough for my liking Interior horrible Stripped it out, went to town with the rug doctor, dyed carpet a darker colour Chucked it back together - got some BMW floor mats Popped the headgasket somehow, lol Completely rebuilt head The sanding begins for full-respray Begun painting - didn't bother masking the wheels up since i'm sanding them all back later and going gunmetal Found a another #$#$# ding lol Now for some real HP improvements - painting the engine, metallic red with silver raised lettering Total budget including the car, rebuilding the head, and complete respray under $3500

Thanks everyone for the valuable feedback. The price on Toyo Proxy C1 & Toyo T1S is great but they only got 1 of each in stock or not sure if the system only allows 1 per user as they are doing 20% off end of month 1-day sale. *I was able to buy one of each Toyo Proxy C1 & Toyo T1S in 1 order. Then Placed a second order on my wife's name for one of each tyre. If both the orders go thru, I will end up with 2 sets of different models. I will put one model on front and one on rear.

Needs a price please as per forum rules.

You don't need to use a crap brand to get (relatively) inexpensive tyres (FWIW I consider "Goodride" a crap brand). And if you don't need a high performance tyre don't pay for something you won't use. Toyo Proxy C1 (245/40/18) - $185** Pirelli Dragon Sport (245/40/18) - $239 Both of which are pretty-much bottom of the range (for the respective brands) but still way, way better than an off-brand tyre. I have the Pirelli's on my 328 and they're fit-for-purpose but I would not put them on my M3. I don't know if the Toyo's existed when I got the Pirelli's but now knowing they exist I would consider them in the future (for the 328). Prices above are from Hyperdrive** although I'm not recommending that franchise in particular... and I'm also sure there are other tyre options that people will suggest you consider. **1. They appear to have 20% off for today only - Pirelli's are excluded, Toyo's seem to be included (https://www.hyperdrive.co.nz/pages/terms-conditions) **2. Buy one get one half price on Toyo's apparently (https://www.hyperdrive.co.nz/pages/terms-conditions) Many places will price match.

Just been to check the current draw on the charger hooked-up to my drive car which is currently having a software upgrade for a couple of modules. Has been drawing betwen 17.3A - 17.5A for the last ten minutes, at just over 14V. That was after an initial spike of over 20A. I didn't think to take my phone with me to take a photo of the read out, but can do if you want. Things to bear in mind - this is only a quick programming update, not a full car reprogramme so draws a lot less current (as I understand it from the techies that do this more often than me). Plus 20A rating for constant 17A is not a lot of head-room for spikes and peaks.

I know 20k isnt a big deal but that might just put me over the threshold to be eligible for a normal lending as opposed to high lvr which prompts an extra 0.75-1.25% on the interest rate. I am also keeping in mind that once I throw away money on a deposit I wont have much spare to keep up with maintenance on a high performance car like this. I have spent almost $5k on it already and thats partly because I bought private and without mechanical insurance. there were some big ticket fixes that were required unfortunately and I cannot guarantee that it will ever be 100% fixed (its a BMW afterall) But Andy you are right, 20k over 800k is little indeed. I am looking further south and a bit cheaper around the 600-700k but still not a huge difference. Chris will pm you. Logan you're not helping. and my 318ti is pretty sweet.

+1 the low equity rate penalty doesn't matter, having a sweet car does matter.

I thought BMW used Shell lubricants these days? Surely anything else will blow up your engines?

Had no issues converting mine at an independent Tyre shop. No questions asked, very good price too. I have to admit though the car feels noticeable softer in corners, probably the only positive thing about runflats...

Well, I certainly wouldn't have given Beaurepaires my money! ?

that was frustrating to read.. why the hell cant you fit tyres of your choice? to be honest, if it was me, I would have bought a new set of wheels, put on tyres of my choice, then fit at home and just sell off the old set.

Hi Kris It needs to be diagnosed properly first before you start throwing money on it for parts. Ring and ask for Kevin at BM Workshop in Botany Ph: 2716636. As Jared said I'm retired now and don't fix cars anymore , even my own as I have other interests now. And yes I drive a Hyundai Kona now. Best car I've ever owned and suits my needs perfectly. Only complaint I had with it was the horn. I've fixed that

I get 3x 5L bottles of castrol edge for $120 and either get oem or genuine filters for $10-35. At 6-6.5L capacity, my oil change costs me less than $100, probably even $60-70 if i pre order the filters from overseas. Very cheap indeed. Mind you, i had the valvetronic and eccentric shaft replaced not long ago which is a head off job so its probably good i changed the oil now. Its really hard to fault this car as an all rounder but gotta make sure to keep plenty of change as parts are expensive..
