I like this better... I tweeked it

No.... passengers seat occupancy sensor... it could be L/H or R/H drive... but only passengers seat
-
You need a more reliable scanner. The drivers seat in LH & RH drive cars do not have an occupancy sensor mat BTW: It should only cost $500 including Gst to do this repair....max

I have a 3.64:1.... new side seals, have had the back off , cleaned and refilled with new oil
-
We use Urethane...not silicon. It just needs to be used correctly

Give it a go yourself then. You will then find out his price quoted was quite reasonable. The belt is $65-$100 + Gst depending where you buy it. The AC belt must come of first to do it along with the Viscous fan coupling. The hose clips for the hose, power steering fluid & the mess to clean up... $200 is a very fair price

Jerry Clayton BMW did quite a few off them They did them "in house" wasn't a factory option

Does the system have an "X" pipe or balance pipe between the L/H & R/H banks... if not, by doing this it will soften & improove the sound.

Either check it yourself more thoroughly or get it checked by a professional. Sump gaskets are more prone for oil leaks than rear main seals... unless the seals have been incorrectly fitted by someone in the past. Give me a call if you need more info or help

This works better http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=494914998

Just been serviced too ???? Check picture 3
-
If your going to go to all that trouble, I would be also doing the inner timing cover gasket as well, which involves removing the sump too
-
You will probably find that head is knackered going by the No2 picture which shows the piston and bore damage created by severe overheating. Checking this would cost more than the head is probably worth. It would need a hardness check, pressure test, crack test and also check that it is straight.

You show me yours first and I might show you mine
-
I took my wheel off and checked.... no you didn't do it right
-
298 K is getting up there. Doing the chain would take less time & $$ than fitting another "unknown" engine though
-
You sure it just doesn't need a new tensioner plunger ???
-
Replace the master cylinder as well.....as was suggested by another member. Then bleed the clutch properly with a well branded dot 4 brake fluid. If your not sure, get it checked professionaly
-
That statement would encompass about 35% of the BMW's that come to my door daily

The 2nd picture is below the glovebox behind the carpet. I would suggest lifting the carpet and having a good look. This car we checked was one of the best looking E30's I've seen...both inside and out...untill I started to look further. I'm just hoping it doesn't end up for sale again. For obvious reasons I can't give any more info. If you are looking to buy a white E30... I would suggest giving me a phone call

Check these areas... if it's like this .....part it out

WOW... you found your caps lock
