Connects PCV to the intake manifold and has a heater element to it, have been known to melt. Engine needs to be not hot when doing the recall
-
Been doing those for the last 2/3 years, common recall on most N series 6 cylinders Edit: prob wouldn't be surprised if it needed an airbag as well since its a jap import
-
@BMTHUG just bought one, not sure how much he paid but I think it was advertised around 8kish? They don't come up for sale very often, in particular good condition ones so if it is mint then might be worthwhile bringing it and saving the hassle of finding one and getting stuck with a lemon
-
Standard one for 3 years is $1895. Being an M car they will be in a different category with a higher excess and maximum per claim limit
-
Had the same problem with the Mrs mondeo and my e36, couldn't find one in Christchurch let alone for a decent price. Then in lockdown one popped up on trademe for $60. Got a damaged one for the e36 for nothing but still a pain

Magic eye doesn't always mean sh*t. Load test is most reliable way to confirm battery status

A car yard here in Christchurch just landed 19 ex rental ford rangers

Oddly today we had two parcels delivered from the UK. Both sent early April so maybe they are not accepting anything until they have cleared the backlog?
-
Mate went to send us something, they refused to. Mother in law also went to send us something and wouldn't but would courier it
-
Found out today all mail services from the UK to NZ have been halted except for courier and don't know if it'll ever turn up
-
Fair enough, although there's 2 oil filter housing gaskets and it's a fiddly wee job trying not to spill coolant everywhere Doesn't cover the cost of fixing other people's laziness or inability to complete basic servicing for free, especially when they never purchased anything from the dealer. It's a weekly occurrence, "had my car serviced elsewhere a d they cant make this light go away, can you do it for free?" Dealers will survive on warranty and service plan work. It's the middle of the range workshops that will suffer, just like all the building and civil sub contractors that fall off because people want the cheapest price on stuff
-
Not sure what you @M3AN there sorry Dave?
-
Happens all the time in the dealership. It's turning into the building industry and a race to the bottom which will lead to workshops closing and going bankrupt because they are running on such fine margins
-
You are quite right to shop around which I encouraged a few posts ago but so far 'I reckon' is the only information you are basing it off. Each workshop is going to give you a different cost based off their labour rate. 5 hours at $100 a hour and 5 at $200 a hour are going to give you two very different costs, but they both take 5 hours. One thing people seem to forget is that loyality will leave you to be better off in the long run instead of chasing the bottom dollar

If a builder gives you an estimate build a house of 3 months, do you tell him no, I reckon it'll take 1 month? What is you do for a job? Cause I'll turn up one day and tell you that it should be done 65% faster than your estimate
-
I've just highlighted where you have gone wrong. Talk to anyone who has done the work or better yet give it a go yourself and you'll quickly find it's not as simple as you say. Blasting depends on how bad the build is, have seen some shockers which take over an hour just to clean them out properly. If you do find that you can do it under an hour without breaking stuff and thoroughly, then I'll give you my bosses phone number for a job

https://www.turners.co.nz/Damaged-Vehicles/Damaged-Cars-for-Sale/bmw/x5/17444784 Interestingly it had been repaired but then had the repair certification revoked. Didn't know they could do that but there you go
-
You make it sound so simple! On a 335, it's at least 5 hours labour plus gaskets and walnuts. Even at $100 an hour you're well on your way unless you are paying some backyard mechanic $20 And a box of do-bros
-
Problem with that is that to buy the tools is often a very expensive exercise. Then they end up getting damaged by people who may not not know what how to use them There's a tools for hire thread in the for sale section with what people have and are willing to lend out

Now selling at $14.5k https://www.trademe.co.nz/2597141128

That rear wing has to go!
-
Clean them and swap with the inlet. If it comes back then you know if it's a solenoid or worse
-
Had this on my watching for a while now and slowly come down, I think they would even take 6.5k based on previous auctions. The rego looks familiar to me but can't look it up anymore to see what has been done to it
