  1. Thought they had dropped the ball with fuel cell development. Great to see it being persued, a refreshing approach instead the other, as you say, "dull" electric options out there
  2. Yup, absolute media blow up, sensatialising out of all proportion. A customer like that is a pain in the arse! Not even knowing Christchurch, that is a totally logical circuit to take a vehicle for a test drive if one is required to confirm repairs having been done. The speed, if correct, "legally" is an issue but whoopee!! The business owner, and the employee, offered to make amends to the situation, to which the customer agreed. It should not have gone any further. Customer not looking to destroy the business - yea right! I have, over the years, frequently needed to test drive vehicles at more than 100kmh & often drive 20ish kms to highlight a certain problem :oThat said, i have total respect for customers cars, often informing them of having done the above to confirm an issue. In all my time, have never had negative feedback of such. Just glad I am in a town that is about a minute drive from access to open road.
  3. Joe @ Euro Surgeon for radio/nav conversion in the E61
  4. ^^^^^^ Prolly why I cant be bothered with it!
  5. ^^^^^ My thoughts exactly
  6. Normal operating fuel pressure (regulator working) is about 38 psi. Vacuum off the regulator -pressure will rise. Flow will be around 2.5 litres per min
  7. Genuine OEM BMW (Varta) generally last to 10yrs, often 12 & more. I changed an E36 one recently @ 16yrs As others above have said - the demands of modern vehicles on their batteries is very high, & short cutting doesn't work.
  8. ^^^^^^ Yep. Also, batteries - are you comparing apples with apples? I suspect not. You get what you pay for with them.
  9. Is it auto? - Trans fluid into water Engine - have not heard of any scenarios to cause oil into water Edit - meant to say - not aware of engine scenarios other than what you suggested
  10. ^^^^^All that. Wait till Glenn chimes in on this
  11. I've simply just removed the belt on the race car. Still technically not legal (as my WOF man initially pointed out) but turns a blind eye now based on the facts - A: he is a race car man himself & B: he understands the reasoning for. Andy's suggestion is probably the best - without evidence of a power rack - no one will probably notice. Bear in mind though - steering is rather heavy for manouvering in tight spaces.
  12. ^^^^^That one is absolutely ludicrous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Hadn't seen this earlier. Stunning car!
  14. ^^^^^Now that is ganster!
  15. Not to mention - VERY vulnerable to damage - have even had to have our 18's straightened a couple of times

    M62 Piston Clock

    ^^^^ What he says
  17. Not overly hard to "clock" an E30 cluster. I have done a few to S/H units I have sold so that they match original cluster milage
  18. Ha, was my first thought but then thought better of it. Coincidentally there was a forklift in the Liquor Land building about 10m from the car which came in handy No underside damage, was siting on one sill & the plastic fuel tank. A few minor scuffs on the sill edge, one chassis rail & the tank. Wire netting scratching all across the rear so a rear repaint is required. Suspect it would have been far worse had the netting not been there to catch it.
  19. Had this AA callout this morning. Job brief: Loss of traction to rear wheels...
  20. Hard to imagine that the rotor surface hasn't escaped damage after that too!

    E39 Headlights

^^^^^They are often crazed on the inside too. As far as replacements - you need to state if pre or F/lift lights
  22. Only $70 online but its the wrong one...
  23. Same problem as happened on mine - intermittent no speedo /lights on. From memory speedo is off R/H rear sensor rather than left too. Get it scanned but also be aware of the module giving random false fault codes - have seen this many times on cars through work. Mine actually diagnosed itself with no fault codes, even with no speedo & lights glaring at me Current data showed R/H rear sensor intermittently dropping out when the speedo dropped out. Smelling a rat, I monitored the voltage into/signal return from the sensor & confirmed the module dropping its output voltage to the sensor intermittently. Unit proved unrepairable by our usual repairer so I sourced a new replacement. PM me if you need any help
