    Quick Questions

Let me put it like this; I paid just over $115 for BMW coolant when I replaced the radiator on the M3 (full flush). I paid just under $40 to do the 328's radiator (full flush). I have a similar amount of both coolants left. So yes, my experience was about 4 times the cost. Without the discount the difference is double but that's still significant and that was the point I was trying to make, contrary to the claims that they cost a similar amount. I didn't intend my "400%" to be a flashpoint, forgive me for that.

Yep, and I got it 40% off so that's $3 per litre mixed. https://www.supercheapauto.co.nz/p/nulon-long-life-anti-freeze-anti-boil-concentrate---6-litre/384350.html?cgid=SCN01070601#segment=1&page=1 There's no doubt in my mind the BMW stuff is crazy expensive.
  5. Are you trying to install the regulator with the sliders on it? Grease sliders and install in rail, install regulator, clip sliders to regulator, profit.
  6. I was in and liked his post hours ago, like a ninja bro. Keep up. ? Anyway, never dissed the car, only the seller until I realised it was TM's fault. I want to see more of this one.
  7. Nice, is that from Hamilton? Very interested to hear your impressions.
  8. As I said earlier, and I won't argue the point further, you shouldn't even be using your warranty. This has the potential to go south fast, I hope it doesn't.

^ well, in a normal world one of those assets depreciates and the other appreciates.
  10. I wish people would install the side indicators on these things on the correct side.

    $50k F10 M5

Ahh, I get it now. I thought (read: assumed) that if you selected (for example) 'Sport Plus' then everything would go into that mode. Now I see there a multiple permutations; engine+suspension+steering. Hopefully you don't need to adjust all three separately if you want to change overall mode. And no, my M3 only has one mode - 'get in and drive'. It has 3 driver assist functions: power steering, anti-lock brakes and (when it's working) climate control. Just how I like it. It's in permanent "track mode". Edit: and actually the non-M Performance skirts (on the black one) look much better than the (no-doubt expensive) M Performance ones on the white one.

Anyone think they're fugly? I think the gangster wheels look ridiculous and the M Performance skirts on white one make it look totally poverty spec. The shoulder "wings" on the front seats also look contrived. Front half of the back one looks like an old, cheap Holden from the side. And why does the black one have two seperate "Sport Plus" modes?
  13. And you could nearly throw a wheel between your two houses! Maybe it's contagion by proximity? If so, I'm soon.
  14. You're correct John that all of this needs to be taken into consideration. And the law in New Zealand is clear that it is the dealer's responsibility to take all that into consideration before selling a vehicle. That's to say that if they purchase/import a vehicle with an engine that "has issues" then they're accountable for making sure those "issues" don't cause a purchaser any problems in a "reasonable" timeframe. In the case where the issues are foreseeable (perhaps because it's a weak engine) then that increases the dealer's responsibility because they're trade experts. I do get your point but the law falls squarely on the side of the consumer here and that's how it should be. There's no profit without risk. This is also why I say that a vehicle that requires a cert shouldn't be able to have the ownership transferred without a cert.
  15. A lot more than 1000 km's if it's significant problem. Even if a clutch went at 1000 km's the dealer would be responsible unless they could prove abuse. Used car dealers don't make money without risk, they carry the risk of the used car being of acceptable quality and free of faults for a reasonable time. "Acceptable" and "reasonable" are deliberately subjective and the favour falls on the buyer which is how it should be.
  16. I'll sit in the middle with my 303's then. ?
  17. Yep, here you go. Very negotiable.
  18. Well if you find a coupe with trashed interior I can supply motorsport seats F+R lol.
  19. Naa, Brent (@BM WORLD) is skipping down to the park and ride in Papa' and nicking bits for his shop! Nothing really just "falls off".
  20. I don't know but I said 5-6,000 kms a year and they didn't blink. I did make it clear that it wasn't my DD and that I had another car (which, as above they won't insure).
  21. The vehicle is not of "acceptable quality", insist on a refund. They'll probably tell you it's "faulty" and they have the right to try and repair it, that's BS - because it failed immediately after purchase you don't get past the "acceptable quality" test to the "faulty" test. A "fault" might be something that popped up 3 months after purchase, not in week one. Anyway, sorry to hear this, do try and negotiate with them, it's always the easiest way but make it clear to them you know your rights. https://www.consumerprotection.govt.nz/help-product-service/cars/finding-the-right-car/buying-car-from-dealer/ https://www.consumerprotection.govt.nz/help-product-service/cars/solving-issues-car-dealer/ https://www.consumer.org.nz/articles/car-buyers-rights#article-when-things-go-wrong http://www.cab.org.nz/vat/tt/bs/pages/buyingfromadealer.aspx Good luck and keep us posted.
  22. Yeah, found that out myself. Will need to insure the M3 and 328 with different groups but Swann is still very attractive for the M3.
  23. I recall a discussion here about covers in general about a year ago. IIRC the general consensus was the same as my personal experience - they'll all scratch your car. Even if they have a soft liner they will still scratch and you can't prevent stuff getting in between the car and cover which sticks there when wet and scratches even more. The best bet I think is a good cover that you can somehow stand off the actual vehicle. I thought of blocks of polystyrene wrapped in felt that you stuck to the inside of the cover (with glue) so it keep the cover away from the car. The problem there is you need a few of them and then the entire cover becomes even more cumbersome than it already is. A framed "tent" that you could drive (or push) under might be a good idea.
