I'll see if I can see/reach under to advise on the connector type (I have a feeling it's just a press fit tube), in the meantime the OD of the pictured fixture will be ~27mm because the ID of the tube and gasket is 27mm (#4, #5 - http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=BG92-EUR-07-1996-E36-BMW-M3&diagId=11_6024).

Yeah, read up on the E36 problem and fix, it'll happen again unless you take specific measures. Do BMW have a repair loom for this on the E61? They do for the E36. Looks like the same problem.

Newly purchased 135i running badly - beginning of a saga?
M3AN replied to SteveArmy90's topic in Maintenance
Protecting or promoting rights is never a waste of time in the long run. I hope that Steve is made whole at the end of this and the dealer does learn a lesson. If nothing else we'll all learn who the dealer is so something will change. -

Easy isn't necessarily "right" though. It would have been easier, and "right" had the dealer responded according to the law and fixed the issue to BMW's standard immediately. He didn't and he went further by actively avoiding his legal accountability. Protecting rights is important yet most people can't be bothered. In this case Steve has been bothered and he should be applauded for that because he didn't take the easy route. If his actions protect even one other potential buyer then he's done well. Used car dealers can make a lot of profit from even a single car, how can they make that profit without accepting a commensurate risk? They shouldn't, they are absolutely accountable for not selling faulty goods and it's their responsibility to ensure that before accepting any offer. Interested to hear how it's going. Edit: lesson to be learnt here, get the codes read and printed out (by somebody not connected to the seller), including the last cleared date before buying a modern car. Any PPI that doesn't include that is a waste of money. -
Welcome, car looks good on those rims in black.

The main auction says "I have located the correct engine and gear box for this car. This makes this CSL worth considerably more." which has a clear implication that it currently doesn't have either. He reinforces this in his answer in the Q&A section. Either way, a buyer would be wise to get an explicit confirmation.
-
But doesn't come with the "correct" gearbox or engine? Buyer has to import that from the USA. How did that come to be? And doesn't that mean it's not a CSL?
-
Please explain how they're wrong. You don't need to lift the silly veil of secrecy to do so. I'd put money on the fact that they're not outright "wrong". May be a matter of semantics. Edit: does a new car warranty transfer in cases like this? If not then something suspicious is going on, who'd buy a car with 500 km's with no warranty? Especially a BMW these days lol!

Whatever the reason, original dealer must have low-balled them on the buy back. Now the original buyer (or the cops) are trying to get a fair market price. Divorce, remorse, finance, crime - could be a very boring back story or a somewhat interesting one.

Cluster looks good, I like the black gauge rings actually, where did you get the red needles?
-
Do they leak/seep easily? If so, is it negligent maintenance do you think or built in problems?
-
They look terrible in normal colours...

Interesting, there's also one with a cage at my storage facility... was just fawning over it on Monday.

Your garage Graham? ??

Cool trophy! Is the bumper support brace composite? Same on all e46's do you know?

"Surface rust" seems to be a UK term that means "the whole thing is riddled with rust but I'm sure it's not structural and you should trust me". Rust is rust. And if it's in one place, it's sure to be in others.
-
That's interesting.

But how did he get the oxygen into the tank without blowing himself up? The acetylene (assuming it was actually that) can explosively decompose at pressures way less than required to fill an LPG tank (and without a regulator?!?). How did he even get it in his car? Such an amazing story of both achievement and fail.

Newly purchased 135i running badly - beginning of a saga?
M3AN replied to SteveArmy90's topic in Maintenance
Absolutely that would be fraud if they were doing it intentionally, probably even if it wasn't intentional. The warranty company didn't provide mechanical insurance for a faulty car, only a good one. -
He needs an award for actually filling the two together and transporting it! I wonder what the mixture really was. But yeah, Darwin Award.

It is however ripping off the warranty company, possibly insurance fraud. But haven't they rejected the claim as pre-existing? That's certainly the correct call if they have. -
Yeah, turn my $30 ticket for driving 4km/h over the limit into a $280 ticket. Great. Not.
-
I still get speed camera tickets with my germanplates.com plates... so they can certainly be read!
