Yeah, I read quite a few pages in and I'm not personally interested in what causes it, rather than it can happen at all. Since many of these will not be with the original owner it seems it would be difficult for prospective or new owners to know if they have the 'problem' or not. Unless the owner's manual actually tells you how to mitigate this then it's my opinion that you can't blame the owners/drivers because if they're only doing what they're told to do...? If they're using the highest grade of fuel available to them and driving it like a nana are they really doing anything the dealer/manual said they can't? Or not doing something they were told they should? My M3 manual certainly doesn't say take it to redline frequently but many advocate doing so. e36 M3's (and e39 M5's?) were sold new in NZ before the recommended 98 RON was available meaning 95 was the best available. I'm not arguing with you Ron, just sharing my thoughts, and I have no opinion on the merits of other opinions expressed herein but I respect Martin's knowledge of e39 M5's.

Whilst I understand that's an extreme example it's a fascinating read, thanks.

It would be fantastic if all your posts were that complete, accurate and helpful Ron. Could I do it on the cheap without the weight by just using shorter springs on the LHS?

@BreakMyWindow will probably know if it's an issue or not.

Sea freighting that should cost less than $150 I'd think... my suspension at ~27kg, similar volume was quoted less than $80 for LA -> Auckland. Give Mainfreight a call (I'm not recommending them specifically but I'm not sure who all the others are).

The 328 has been off the road for a few weeks because the damn alarm remote f'd out and unless I wanted to do LED + Ignition gymnastics I couldn't disable the immobiliser. Reprogramming with the old or a new Trademe remote didn't want to work... until today that is. On previous attempts I'd had the bonnet open so I could disable the siren with the key. It seems that this was enough to prevent the alarm going into programming mode. Weighing down the bonnet switch was enough. Couldn't programme the original remote but the Trademe one works a treat. Original in bin and second TM one ordered. Although I must admit I've been enjoying driving the M3...

Mainfreight or similar? But depends on volume, weight and air or sea? What do you need?

Dude, that is so cool! Leather straps and all...

Yes, you have every right to be very proud. Very, very sweet. Well done.

Oh, my bad!

"This vehicle is sold by the liquidators appointed to manage the vendor’s assets." Seems rather odd if it's coming from a collection doesn't it? Or am I reading too much into those words?

Looks smooth without the big wing, real smooth.

Don't be an idiot like me and order a LHD one... :-/

Bathurst Lap Records Shane van Gisbergen, McLaren 650S GT3, 2:01.5670 (7 February 2016) David Reynolds, Holden VF Commodore Supercar, 2:06.2769 (9 October 2016) 5 seconds is quite the margin. That GT3 lap also happens to be the outright record at Bathurst.

Wow, that doesn't happen very often! ECS are good but typically more expensive. I used to price compare across Schmiedmann, Pelican, FCP and ECS and quite quickly dropped ECS from the equation. I eventually also dropped Pelican and FCP because Schmiedmann were reliably the least expensive across a range of goods. Having said that not every item Schmiedmann offers is the least expensive and if I'm looking at expensive items or larger orders I still cross check against FCP and occasionally Pelican. I have no complaints with the service from any of these vendors so price is the bottom line for me although DHL straight to my door with no delays is a bonus worth considering (shipping out of the US is often hit and miss in my experience). Also, for the benefit of the OP - you did ask about "bulk" and if you had asked about "individual" items then Milland BMW and Euro Italian are local companies that should be considered. I've purchased from both and was suitably impressed.

What are your biggest pleasures of owning a BMW?
M3AN replied to KiwiTT's topic in General Discussion
Parking in mobility parks, tailgating, brake-testing tailgaters, taking up two fuel pump stations and paying with coins. I'm in a BMW bitches. Respect My Authoritah. -
Afraid not. I tried to fix both but the results were poor. I have an 18 button that I'll put in some time when I pick up a connector for it.
-
So today I fixed my coolant level sensor and my unreadable check control display. Perfect, no more dead pixels or dash light!

Welcome Jordan, that looks quite tasteful. I've never seen that colour, a bit difficult to gauge from the pics, looking forward to seeing it in the flesh one day.

No chance. And Schmiedmann have perfectly reasonable shipping, not really much point in shopping around.
-
schmiedmann.com Fast and cost effective shipping, superb customer service. Split packages so they're less than NZ$400 including shipping to avoid the GST.

One of my pet peeves, people that don't progress the queue whether in a vehicle or on foot. Do they have no idea?

I have a new-in-box pulley (#11 28 1 748 131) available in Ellerslie if that's what you need? If it will help you can have it as long as you replace it. Edit: and look at that, I also have two new belts: 11 28 1 437 449 11 28 7 636 379

^ that's just too simplistic which makes it inaccurate. Vodafone has fibre and copper (ChCh, Wel, Akl). Telstra had copper and fibre (nationwide), now Vodafone's, Spark has copper and fiber (nationwide) in addition to what they, and others, use from Chorus. Not to mention Vocus (nationwide). All mobile providers need backhaul and they can't rely entirely on 3rd parties for that. Now, I'm not saying that makes any of their customer service any better.
