Bit of advice please - new 318ti owner with couple of issues
M3AN replied to markoneswift's topic in Maintenance
What are you using to scan the codes? Have you cleared the codes to see what (re)appears? If not do that first. Does the ABS actually work? Test it in a safe place and be prepared for the wheels to lock up, mash the brake pedal from 40km/h. Either way for the light to be on there must be a code (light is the effect of a code, code is the effect of a fault). So you may need to get them read by a shop? Needless to say you can't get a warrant with an ABS light on so you'll eventually need to get to the bottom of it. -
^ I see you got another car but if the ABS light doesn't light up you can't get a legit warrant so that 320i had acres of room for negotiation... or probably walk away.
-
Why not run 235's on your 7.5's? BMW did that up front on a few E36 M3's (M3 GT and LTW IIRC).
-
Can't you use TunerPro (http://www.tunerpro.net/)? And I can assure you there are no (known) 64bit ADS drivers and your car is ADS. Unless you have DIS up and running you're not going to get far programming your modules because the bidirectional communications protocols aren't in place.
-
Loosen the belt tensioner(s) and spin the pulleys by hand to see if/which one is making the noise.
-
You need to use 32bit Windows as a start. INPA will run on 64bit but the lower level communications protocols will not. Using Win32 (Windows 10 is fine) get INPA and DIS up and running then you can use the other tools.

^ that and also... Bolts at 80Nm? Sorry, had to ask. Try without spacers also to see if you can repeat the experience.
-
Straight fit into an e36 as well I believe?
-
I dunno now, seems different:
-
Yes, the corner bit but I'd also expect the entire top (horizontal) bit to be more flush, seems like it would pool water as it is.
-
35% is max for the fronts anyway and I don't think mis-matching tints looks good at all. 35% isn't even very dark IMHO. 35%

Agree with Kyu - although the Bridgestone is more tyre than you need (based on your description) it's a great tyre for the price. If you were looking to save some coin you could even go for the next model down in their range the "Sporty Style MY02" (terrible name). Not sure how much they cost but they're sure to be fine for an "every day" tyre - perhaps still even more tyre than you need. Most people get "performance" tyres and come nowhere near asking them to do anything near what they're capable of. Edit: remember to shop your best price around, some places will try and better it or throw in something extra.

If you don't get a quick reply perhaps contact Brent (BM World) or Ray (Hell BM) either by PM or by phone. I'm sure both will be able to help.

Or Martin's M5! I'm not sure that window rubber is in right... the last picture in post #17 looks way off... no?

^ Nice work dude!
-
Mounted them. Now I can get my RC's refurbished... finally!
-
Mounted these. Seemed appropriate to do it in the rain since they're semi-slicks. Drive to work tomorrow could be fun in the rain. Cold 225 track tyres verses sticky 255 street tyres... Thought I'd hate the black... don't mind it actually.
-
Now I need the CSL one as well!
-
I need that E30, have the E36 equivalent sitting on my entertainment cabinet.
-
Picked these up today so I can finally get my RC's refurbished! These are my new track rims and tyres:

Did a bodge job to fix a squealing belt pulley and took it off and sprayed the guts of it with CRC. Obviously that won't last but it's a sealed unit and I can't get grease in there. Quite annoyed actually because it's only 5,000 km's old. I'll need to replace it. But on a better note, picked up some track rims and tyres from Rowan, cheers dude.

Nice to meet you today Rowan and have a good chat, thanks for the easy trade.

Z3 steering rack or e46 purple tag? (E36 M3)
M3AN replied to atlantiskiwi's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
It would be good to test them back-to-back and I'd be keen if yours went in before mine. Also happy to tool around helping you do the swap if that's what you meant. It would be worth making sure your tierods aren't seized before you start as you may need gas to get them undone. You'll also want to get new hoses and do the modifications required to use normal worm-drive clamps (http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?124679-Fixed-steering-hose-leak-problem).
