Black one has been taken off Trademe, will possibly be back soon, watch this space. Edit: PM me if you're a buyer and need details.
  2. I suppose it all depends on how you define "maniac". I'd love you to elaborate. In public if you wish. Edit: please tell me you're not the one with that 'X' on the side of your car... ??? The one sitting in the right hand lane?

    And I've driven it... hard...
  4. Diving in the Bay of Islands (well Cavallii Islands actually) at the Rainbow Warrior for the first time and swimming with dolphins during your surface interval. Magic, just pure magic. Edit: oh, and a trip back from Russell to Auckland that involved only about 10 other cars/trucks/vans on the road. Pure bliss. I've never, ever tracked 230 odd km's on NZ's State highways with less traffic. Ever. And I got to do it in an M3. What a f'ing great long weekend (took Fri/Mon off) that was!
  5. I have the big-arse thick BMW ones and they're just too thick. You're better off with thinner ones and replacing them every 10 years.

Thank you. But also where and cost - that would be the mere mortal cost, not your 'have contacts' cost
  7. When a car has been in storage for 5 years it always has a project list. And when an E36 ages it always has a project list because normal maintenance only cover 50% of the things that go wrong. If this thing has original shocks, springs, VANOS, clutch, headliner, exterior trim, glovebox, air-con, the list goes on then it certainly has a project list. If they've all been done then sweet, but it was still a project, perhaps just a long term one.
  8. You should have seen mine! Dusty and dirty. All welcome to our casual meet. It's the correct colour for an ageing wine, I'd grant you that, a fine Cabernet I'd say. Even I'm coming to terms with the fact that this is a very fine line, the E46 M3 does have a lot going for it. I really hope it does sell for the asking price, it will be a great benchmark and will be clear evidence the the price of good ones is going up. And I think mine is a good one. I just need to finish my project list!

    Can you elaborate Amber?
  10. 54k seems a little steep doesn't it? I'm not really up with the play on prices for these but I'd think a 2008 would be worth closer to 45 than 54 no?
  11. The seller only has to identify the year of first registration: Source: http://communitylaw.org.nz/community-law-manual/chapter-12-consumer-protection/buying-a-motor-vehicle-chapter-12/ However that does not change the age of the vehicle. If there's a material difference between the date of first registration and the age of the car the seller is required (under various laws) to make that clear so as not to be "misleading". It's caveat emptor unless it's misleading (or false but that's not the case here). And a misleading headline cannot be corrected in the small print. I think this whole episode makes a clear argument for asking a simple question when purchasing a car (unless you already know the answer)- "how old is the car?" - seller cannot lie when asked a direct question and if they say "I don't know" then you're probably best to walk away.
  12. I didn't, that's what "..." is used for. I simply dropped the irrelevant parts. Edit: no offence (or even disagreement) intended. If you don't understand I'm happy to elaborate - didn't think that was necessary.
  13. Well, will you acknowledge the age of the car is determined by calculating the current year minus the production date? Or are you going to continue to insist the first registration date somehow influences the age of the car?
  14. Okay... so still a little in the dark - is "Evo" just some random BMW nomenclature meaning "new"? Or does it refer to an "Evolution" car model (eg E30 or E36 M3)?
  15. <shakes head> I think you know better. The first registration date is a benchmark sure. Is it the baseline benchmark? No. And you know this. I suspect there's a lot of troll in this thread because the obvious is, well it's obvious.
  16. Damn it lads! Tell me what you're talking about???? What are "Evo" wipers?
  17. ^ lol - I bet the guy in the d is sitting there going 'I wish, I wish!'.
  18. <bangs head at thread> Yes, so all of this diatribe proves the lack of "soul". If the conversation needs to be objective then the soul is lost...
  19. - was hoping for something a little less expensive - if the price drops closer to $2k I am looking for a new daily... Assuming it's in good Nick (pun intended) then that's far smarter money (as long as it's manual - cheeky lol).
