W211 E-diesels vs E60 5-diesel vs XC70 diesel
jjs replied to lord_jagganath's topic in Other European Cars
So I'm guessing your budget is about $16k? I wouldn't think you would get much 530d or E220CDI for that money. Unless you were willing to look at something with over 200kms on it. I would avoid the Volvo at all costs - I know a couple of people with relatively late model XC90's and XC70's and they all have horror stories - gearbox failure, ABS issues, electrics not working. My 2 cents, but being a daily driver you need reliability and sensible running costs... I would look at something Jap. -
Looks like a nice vehicle, and the seller isn't asking silly money for it. Do you guys think this should be driven and enjoyed? Or, should it be used sparingly to keep the mileage low?

What are you wanting to use the vehicle for? How much is your budget? -
The seller sounds like a real muppet. Each to their own, but I haven't seen anything as hideous as that for some time! The brown interior really sets it off... I bet brock would have driven a three speed auto too...

$42 for a 12 year old car??? I think early 30's is where these things tap out now, but a few unrealistic dreamers are still chasing big money for them

This would have been BMW NZ's old stock problem The law states that for NZ new vehicles, the vehicle year is the year of first registration. Australia have recently introduced rules where manufacturers can no longer sell cars as new when they reach a certain age, regardless of whether or not they have been registered.

Good fun small car in a cool colour! Trademe

These are gutless in petrol, would rather have a 330i E46

What a tool

Does anyone know more about this car? Pricing seems fair? Trademe
-
Looks interesting, not a bad price either Thoughts on red leather? Trademe

Don't underestimate how little attention some people give their cars! Last week I pulled up to a relatively new Audi Q7 (would be 2010 at least with DRLs) at the traffic lights and wa hirrified to see that the tyre was so bald the white thread was clearly visible...

Looks like a minter. Can't it be saved?

Wow looks amazing. If you bought this you wouldn't want to drive it though - will be destined for a museum. I've been looking for something similar locally (albeit with normal mileage) and its hard to find an honest kiwi new car that hasn't been f*cked with or travelled astronomical mileage

Heaps on eBay. I recently bought a couple of Art Car models, all as described with quick postage and cheaper than I thought thanks to the weak USD
-
Surely someone on here will snap this up? It looks mint! Trademe

WHat?! He spent $7k putting SMG in a 520i?
-
That would be a very "short term" decision. I know the new car industry is heavily focussed on reducing ownership costs (via service plans, reducing part prices and the like) as perceived high cost of servicing etc is a big reason people will not buy a particular brand again.

Drivers locked in to high key costs Another idiotic quote from the Dog and Lemon Guide authour Clive Matthew-Wilson... Why do media always go to him? No one in the motoring respects him, and his opinionated crap is very rarely based on fact. This recent article claims that dealers "gouge" customers by charging too much for spare keys on modern vehicles. A dealer buys product from an importer and then applies a standard mark up. Why would a dealer think, "wow, lets see if we can get away by putting a massive mark up on keys because customers have no choice". I am sure dealers hate charging the amounts that they do for additonal keys and probably cut their margin as they feel awkward about the asking price. But remember, the dealer doesn't set the price! Whenever a friend tells me about something they have read in the Dog & Lemon Guide I just laugh in their face...

Looks like suede / alcantara to me Brown is the new black!

$115k seems a bit rich... What was the new list price? You can buy a 2011 M3 for less!
-
Free MG-F Bahahaha - a very novel way to get rid of an MG-F. I love it how they claim its worth $12k! Supposing you could actually find someone that wanted to buy one I think you would struggle to get $3k. I owned one of these gems for a short amount of time and the ownership experience could only be described as Nightmare on Elm street.

Christ 462km! Was it Neil Armstrongs drive car??
-
Thumbs up! Where did you manage to find that gem?

Same seller or is someone trying to make a quick buck?
