The gearbox in that auction is a 420g (E39 M5) but he said he had another 265g... No idea what he wants for it though or what car it was from.
-
Ooo... Modern. Should be able to solder on a tiny resistor between the bulb terminals and the base to get rid of any OBC errors.
-
This guy told me he was selling a 265g and complete kit, pedal, etc - http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/bmw/gear-boxes/auction-843210561.htm

I'd love the six speed but not sure how easy it would be to mate up to the M70... Also doubt I have the budget for some time.

It's not too complicated to do it yourself but avoid the solder-free ribbons that rely on pressure alone for the connection. Use a T bar solder iron and a proper LCD ribbon. Or, take it to someone that specialises in this stuff. Robinson Instruments in Auckland are excellent and would charge around $200 for the replacement. I also had the LCD replaced in my 850 MID by a guy in Christchurch. Not sure if he does clusters but might be worth asking... PM if you want his contact.
-
Nice wheels, the width will prevent you getting big money. Do they have tyres?
-
Easier to swap the LCD than the cluster.
-
Not sure it's low enough. Not normally a fan of the E63 M6 wheels on an E31 but it kinda works with those lows... That said this car would be undriveable on our roads.

Not quite, Martin. Got all the gear now but other more pressing issues to sort so it the csi kit might have to wait for a while!

Oh, hello!

Two 635csis in the space of an hour on Richmond road. One very tidy orangey red one with beige interior the other maroon and a bit rougher looking but still awesome. Didn't catch the plates.

Love it... $80.5K ono! haha

http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=838208307 "Same look like M5 2000 Model" - Yes, identical except for all of the M5 bodykit parts that make an M5 look like an M5. "Face Lift Front and Back" - Yes, except it's not a facelift, it has had some facelift parts added. "BMW M5 Angle eye Head Lights" - Hmmmnnn....

I have feedback I trust that up to 20s are fine ride-wise in an E38. Wouldn't go over 18 on an E39 though. -
Plenty, but both are sh*t! Wasn't criticising your post, Dave, merely point out that investing in a car isn't a good investment. Unless you bought a McLaren F1 20 odd years ago!!

If they paid $40k for an e30 m3 in2008 it ain't worth $60k now. Maybe $50k at a push but that's still only a bit over a grand a year profit. Not worth writing home about!
-
Too right... Meanwhile those sitting on E30 M3 might have earned a good three to four.... hundred dollars per year, as long as they didn't drive it. Proof for those who need it what an awesome investment cars are.

http://www.motoring.com.au/news/2014/cadillac-shows-blown-477kw-cts-48337?WT.seg_4=outbrain;outbrain-art Looks lawsuitingly similar to a C63 AMG though, especially the rear.

I've been offered a servotronic hydro box and control module from a 1993 850i cheaply and thinking of retrofitting into my 91 850i. The servo steering in my E39 540i was a massive improvement over stock so I'm quite keen to give it a try. The internets suggest that the wiring harness for the control module will already exist located on the left hand side of the left hand foot well in the cabin and the hydro box should be a straight swap. Anyone done this on an older car (E32, E34, E38, E39)? Any possible pitfalls (other than the possibility the wiring doesn't exist)?

Personally I can't stand the rubbery plasti dip finish. If you want black grilles and BMW didn't offer an OE black grille (which they didn't for E46 or E39) then for best fitment and finish get an OE set of chrome grilles, sand off the chrome and paint properly with black enamel and clear coat. Those cheap eBay ones generally don't fit very well (I know this from experience).
