  1. Similar but more 'streamlined' made specifically (in Taiwan) for the 8.
  2. Actually, you're quite wrong. People aren't willing to pay it, developers are. Zero capital gains tax will drive prices up and people won't get a look in until the market implodes because the people can't afford the surplus of over-priced, sub-divided sh*tholes everywhere. That said, the land itself, this close to the city will be valuable. Especially if it's kept intact instead of subdivided. /Someone who grew up in the UK and has seen it all before under Thatcher EDIT: My brother lives in Camden and his house dipped GBP250K last year. London isn't mental like Sydney and Auckland where overseas developers and investors are killing the housing market.
  3. Not sure how I feel about this yet but I've added 10bhp to the boot lid. Is a boot spoiler acceptable on the clean lines of an E31? Discuss.
  4. Jesus... It'll almost back on to your yard... But not quite. We're the house along the top, second from the right.
  5. You're probably right, Tony.
  6. We bought ours nearly 20 years ago for a bit over $150k!!!! If we were buying now we'd be leaving somewhere past Huntly!!
  7. This beauty is only about 5 doors down from our place... You too could have commuters using your place as a park and ride, p*ssd @ssholes stumbling home from Ponsonby Road most nights, blow off valves from all the tw@ts that race down Richmond Road after midnight every night and sh*te music from Golden Dawn until 3am most weekends for a mere $1.075M plus the other million you'd need to make it habitable. A sensible investment in a growth area. At least we know we've got a bit of equity. EDIT: I am aware that this is a first world problem.
  8. White light would be okay but the blue looks a bit odd in the pics with your caramel leather! I also noticed when I followed you back from Hamilton that your license plate LEDs are so bright it completely whites out the plate. Great if you get speed camera'd I guess, but you might get pinged by the cops for that sooner or later.
  9. So I've done a couple of hundred kms since installing the EML chip and LSD (sorry, not many skids yet) and it's night and day. The shorter ratio has obviously provided plenty more get up and go in lower gears and it's still only revving at around 2200rpm at 100kph. The EML chip has completely changed the dynamics of the throttles. Far more responsive making the power much more readily available. It might be placebo but I'd say it has shaved an easy second of the 0-100kph. The only downside at this point is that it has accentuated an issue with the throttle bodies. The electric motors in the throttle bodies are prone to getting clogged over time and as the contacts get dirty it affects the throttle response in different ways. With mine the issue is that the throttle doesn't open gradually. You have to press the accelerator quite firmly for the throttle to open, so you basically get... no power, no power, no power.... LOTS OF POWER. It's not a problem on the highway, but is a real PITA in slow city driving. It's less noticeable if you pull away in second but the manual mode on the old 4 speed is not very user friendly so it's definitely time to fit the refurb'd throttle bodies I have. Once done it should be amazing. Now I'm keen to chip the EGS - Dinan do a chip that has similar properties the s/w upgrade I had in the 540i (harder/quicker shifts at higher RPM) but research seems to point to it only working on US cars which have a different EGS. Not sure if there are other EGS chips out there? So the to do list is currently looking like this: (Things that I'll need professional help with) Replace headlining Deal to rust spots on the sunroof and paint Polish wheel lips Find source of a/c leak and fix (Things I'll do myself... eventually) Fit new ignition leads Fit refurb'd throttle bodies Fit motronic chips Clean/paint valve covers and manifolds - reassemble with new gaskets Paint and fit rear diffuser Replace EDC shocks with standard Clean the f*ck out of the engine bay and replace a few bits of broken/worn plastic trim, etc I've got a few of the parts already but it will require around $2-2.5K to complete... Better start saving.
  10. Ha! No, just because those wheels look pretty shite without the covers!!
  11. The style 32s look good but would be better in lighter silver IMO. Have you got the covers for the M5 wheels?
  12. It's actually priced about right according to recent valuations for condition/kms/etc but it's going to be a while until they start going up. Also, it's had a repaint obviously, so probably not worth as much as stock. It's not in the country yet either IIRC. The last LHD import for sale had lower kms and full csi kit and was sold for $15.5K, so the market has spoken.
  13. Socketed. Hardest bit is popping the top PCB out. DME's are virtually identical so at least I know what I'm in for now, and nothing major. Extremely positive. Throttle is a lot more responsive and smoother power delivery. With the new diff it feels as quick off the mark as my 540i.
  14. Out with the old... In with the new. That is all.
  15. Not sure if it's a fact but there's certainly a lot of speculation on the interweb.
  16. At your house, Josh? (Good idea though! I do want to start edging down concourse road). EDIT: I was referring to your post about cleaning the undercarriage... But I can come and do burnouts at your house too if you want.
  17. hahah! I'm too old and sensible for that sort of thing
  18. Wish I'd taken a video when we started it with the resonator and back boxes off.... Holy heck! Sounded epic but would get old very quickly in the cabin at those decibels!
  19. Google has... http://www.bmwforums.info/guides-how-tos/4394-guide-to-rebuilding-calipers.html EDIT: If it's the brakes, have you checked that you haven't just lost one of the silver anti-rattle clips? If the pad's wobbling about it might be causing the issue you've got.
  20. hahah! Yeah, toothbrush and degreaser is definitely a summer job... Just need to find that perfect friend with an outdoor hoist. Haven't driven the Kaiser yet, its got a couple of other remedial bits to go (new brake lines and pitman arm). Can't wait... Will try and get the EML chip in before Sunday. The shorter ratio and improved throttle response should make it a lotta fun!!
  21. Jon does work for BMW so you'd hope he has an idea or two. There's a tonne of hearsay on the interweb from Sport Mode doing nothing but change throttle response through to Sport Mode activating all sorts of features (stiffer suspension, tighter steering, different maps, etc, etc). I can tell you that in the E39 auto, Sport Mode does a lot more than make the throttle more sensitive - it completely changes the shift points and makes the shifts harder and faster. No idea whether it changes the maps but I did read somewhere that it selects from a number of preset maps based on your driving style in economy vs sport.
