If the mod is illegal (such as tinting) won't matter if it had nothing to do with the accident. Not a grey area, just because it passes a WOF it doesn't certify or legalise it. Yes (and sorry - have been burnt myself so know how it works!)

My old car... And my photos from 18 months ago! It doesn't look like that now. I saw it a few months ago and both splitters were munched and LHS front bumper was cracked and wheels were a rash of curbing. And he's asking more than he paid for it!! We're getting off track a bit now anyway, I only alerted Amber because it's those kind of mods that insurance inspectors look for if a claim is made because it will immediately void the insurance, even if it has nothing to do with the accident. Much like un-certed hub spacers, cut springs, etc.

Looks a tidy car and priced about right. Personally, I'd remove the ACS exterior badges and not mention any of the ACS bits in the ad. Anyone who knows their bimmers will know it's not a genuine Schnitzer and those that don't won't care. Sell it for what it is, a tidy, relatively low kms 328i that has had regular maintenance. My 10 cents: take photos with a camera not a phone of the things that matter (exterior, engine and interior) and provide info of any service records... The more history the better for any potential buyer. GLWS EDIT: I recently sold this Merc A160 (a horrible little car) that I'd bought from a Turners auction for peanuts. The profit all but paid for my E30. I had some 15-20 actual enquiries (not Watchers) just by taking some good pics and providing an accurate description of the vehicle and being up front about the negatives.

Unfortunately this is illegal. If your car gets into another dust up it will void your insurance if the inspector spots the tint. Done well I guess the chances of someone spotting it are minimal.

Gave the E30 a bit of a clean over the long weekend. There's a lot wrong but there's also a lot right and she's scrubbed up pretty well for an old girl, plus it was a beautiful afternoon for a wee drive and some photos.... And I do love my photos!! I've got some shorter springs and a LHS tail light (current is cracked and half full of water) plus a proper gear knob on its way which I'll fit as soon as possible but beyond that I'll just be taking care of any maintenance issues for the time being. Priority is still to get the 8er's rusty sun roof and sagging headlining sorted.

haha!! Speaking of which, can I grab those spring compressors? Will tackle that job next weekend hopefully.

Took a clay bar to the E30. The paint has come up okay for a 30 year old car. Still could be a lot better though! Tested my new favourite paint - SEM trim black - on the wing mirrors. Made a huge difference! Pity I dropped one and cracked the mirror glass. Doh!! So if anyone has a spare PFL passenger side mirror glass (as pictured) let me know!! Trying not to make this one a 'project'!

Beautiful car but a standard 850i is expensive enough to maintain without tech like AHK steering - prone to failure and expensive to repair!

Mine's not exactly a time warp example and has probably had 10+ careful lady owners but is a great fun daily. Picked up the springs yesterday so will try find the time to fit in the next couple of weeks.

Saw a very nice dark blue E34 Alpina B10 turning off at Northcote Rd northbound. Too far away to see what type, hoping it was bi turbo.

Mirrors? Have some sedan mirrors but coupe base plate mirrors are different (and match the 8 series, I hope!).

Very convincing. The springs I got are lows not superlows so I'm hoping it's not quite that!! I like the wheels to fill the arch not vanish inside them.

Thanks Dave. Funnily enough I just got offered a set of King lows for cheap so I'll grab them but may not actually lower it for a while... Yeah right! Yep, enjoying the simplicity and burning some energy winding those windows up and down (still think it's weird the mirrors are electric though... Why go halfway??). Mine is actually Cosmos Blue. Probably pretty similar.

Had a great mini adventure last Thursday with my little lad. Flew down to Palmy and picked up a little manual 320i to use as a daily sight unseen. It didn't miss a beat on the way home and was great fun to drive despite more than 350K kms on the clock, though it did have head gaskets done in the past five years. Paint and bodywork are in okay condition for a near-30 year-old car and the interior is mint apart from a repairable small crack (surprise surprise) on the dash and a rip in the fabric on the driver's side seat bolster. No plans to do much with it other than keep it running for the foreseeable future while the 8er uses up any discretionary spend. I have purchased a new gear knob to replace a horrible fake CF one that is clinging loosely to life. Wouldn't mind lowering it an inch or so but not in any hurry. Photos from our trip home.
