Have a read of the furniture clinic site. They have rip repair kits. The videos will motivate you i'm sure.

I just picked up a brand new e39 M5 shifter very similar to your one. Has much less play in that rubber bushing. Sounds like your one was damaged in transit or faulty rubber used.

My understanding is that if oil is leaking out from the noid covers then it would be the o-rings are not sealing the high oil pressure the noids are dealing with. The gasket should just be in place for protecting against dust. Shouldn't need any of the goop stuff. Good work though Dave. My vanos doesn't look to have ever been touched so wil be interesting to see how weak the noids have become.

The joy of being a network engineer - feel ya pain. -
Good work! It's not until you have sorted suspension and steering that you appreciate driving a bimmer.

The trouble with facelifted E39 Headlights is that the Xenon and Halogen units look identical on the lense side. You need good pics of the backside to determine if they're indeed xenon. There will be a few mis-represented units stating they're xenon but are halogen. This can also work to your favour price wise, so even check the listings that state they're not xenon. Ballasts attach to the backside of the unit with a bracket. About mid-way through 2002 Hella used epoxy to seal the front lenses. Replacing adjusters on these is not fun.

Thank Christ it's back together and running! It's been real.

First gen celisor or ls400 I'm sure you get to beat up in street fighter 2!

You will need facelift Xenon headlight units which I obtained ex UK. I'm pretty sure e39's specd with HID's also had auto-leveling. So if that's the case you will need the auto-leveling parts and wiring along with a suitable LCM (Light control module). The headlight units should come with ballast resistor packs, and wiring is easy enough to do, in fact I think BMW do a retrofit wiring kit. Brand-new ex Hella NZ the xenon headlight units are around 2k each....

Yeah i'd maybe practice re-trimming leather/Alcantara in it.

Be hard to find an SUV that does around 12.7 down the 1/4 mile.... Shameless plugging of Japanese supercars on a BMW forum, so here's mine :-D

Would've upset the balance the v8 drive train at a guess. The GTR is a playstation wet dream, magnificent engineering. But the nsx imo is a proper super/sports car. Handling developed by Mr Senna.

I remember seeing at BMworkshop what Mice/rats did to the engine wiring loom of a beautiful red e34 M5. Found this in the air intake snorkel of my M5 :

C'mon Darren... get with the times... could do with a bit more tuck in the rear and some negative camber. ;-)

Arguably the greatest all-round super car to come out of Japan.. The NSX-R
