My thoughts exactly. I love the lines on the E38. The carpark at work holds about 150 cars and the E38 really stands out among all the others there. I've given up on trying to find lowering springs to get it to a height I want so I'm going to get the front springs compressed 2.5 inches and the rear is self leveling so I can adjust that manually. Should bring the front to the same as the 740 and I'll drop the rear a little lower so it'll only just tuck the rear wheel.

It got a cut and polish today. As good excuse as any to take a couple of pics. Actually, first one is to one up a guy in the states who took a pic of his silver 740i between a couple of school buses. Second pic is for Daniel in the USA who wanted me to post a pic of the car at the Castlecliff Domain. The building in the pic is called the Duncan pavilion and used to be a coffee shop back in the day. I have many fond memories of being a kid and going there to get a icecream that then got sand in it and melted everywhere..lol 3rd pic is just because..lol

Gave the 750i a cut and polish today. Silk purse, pigs ear kinda deal but it does look a whole lot better.

With those sitting outside it has me wondering whats in the garages..

Drove past again so I thought I'd be cheeky and take a couple of pics. A 740i, 740il and 750il, a E36 328i AC Schnitzer and a 850i. Am I jealous? Hell yeah I am. Loving the stance on that silver 750il too.

I had to google GTFO. Nearly spat my coffee over the keyboard...lol

So I had this in and then out of e 750i. The display in the 740i has worked on and off for some time. Mostly off recently so I thought this would be a good option till I got a replacement. Now it's in there I really like it.. ha ha. Go figure. Maybe because the 740i has Black upholstery it suits it more.

It's back. I just couldn't live without the wood in the 750i. Much better I think.
-
Thanks for that Much appreciated but I've definitely narrowed it down to the Amp. When I put that Amp into the 740i I had the same static as when it was in the 750i. I just need to either get it fixed or find another that will work in the 750i.
-
I was led to believe that they're all interchangeable and would all work though with varying degrees of sound quality which is where the coding comes in. I've had all 3 working amps in the 740i and 2 give great sound and one works but sounds like your listening to a transistor through a tin can..lol
-
I have one of those but I dont think they're for the DSP sound system or OBC.

I like it. Matches the grills. A couple of these would finish it off nicely.

Spent the day trying to get the stereo in the 750i going. All I get is static through the speakers. So I swapped amps and radio modules. Putting other amps in removes the static but gives me no sound. In the end I thought it might be in the display unit so I bit the bullet and installed the 16:9 display unit from the parts car. I'm unconvinced. I kinda miss the wood around the 4:3 display. Anyway. Still no go with the stereo. So I started pulling all the modules and Amp from the 750i and tried them one by one in the 740i. And as soon as I put the amp in I had static. So I now know the Amp is bad. Question now is why wont any of my good Amp's work in the 750i?

Ha ha . Since reading this I have far less edited messages. Cheers.

Yeah. I'd luv to have one of these but it'd have to be in way better condition than this one. I have enough to contend with getting the 750i up to scratch..lol And frankly the wiring in that one scares the hell out of me.
-
Yup, I'll grudgingly admit I do like the Soarer. Nice one Michael.
-
Oh, well that sucks. Had a similar issue when swapping DME's in the 740i. And I did end up damaging it..lol
-
Why would the Ebox lid need to be damaged? Doesn't it have a couple of screws and then lift off?
-
Been there and done that on the 740i and they've just gone in the 750i so I have to do it again. Not something I'm looking forward to. If I remember right I had to go through the outer vent on the bonnet as well as through the underside. Your 7's looking sharp. Very nice.

What a cool project. I'm looking forward to watching this happen. Lots of pics as you progress on this please..

May look at some plastic molding a bit later. Cheers Brent. I've got a towbar on the 740i so I thought I'd delete the one on the 750i and give it that clean look. I just need to find a unmolested rear bumper at some stage and when bills allow..lol

Agree with Michael and Dion. Silver Rims and the Calipers blue would look very nice. The silver wheels stand out more where as the black sort of fades into the car. No detail as you said.

Oil and filter change today. This is what was left of the oil filter canister mounts compared to the new ones going in. Also swapped on some new chrome. The old chrome was past it's used by date. Old. New.
