  1. I think I have one somewhere. Will have a dig. It actually did wedding duty a few times over the years. It's seen some Blenheim sun since. So time to refresh some bits and pieces. Mechanically she is sound and still hauls ass. I forgot about the active laser jammer in it. I'm not sure it is still working though.
  2. My old man recently passed away. He has owned this E55 since near new. Previous owner was a friend of his. I decided I would buy it from the estate pending a go over. He always loved this car and we have spent many hours towing around both my previous E30 series car and the current dormant E34 race car over the years. I enjoyed driving it so I thought I would keep it in service. Probably not the smartest move with the price of petrol about to drive the cost of living to near Switzerland levels. So off on my Mercedes journey I go.
  3. Yeah I'm not keen on them. Most are designed for a Karting seating position.
  4. Any go-kart supplies shop. As they are for Karting. Not car racing. I hate that tracks are making people get these. But the alternative is expensive (Hans) or nothing at all.
  5. I towed my old E30 series car with my E30 at the time. Was very sketchy.
  6. Great news. Glad you get the option to have your car back or not. Lived in Torbay for 6 years before leaving Auckland. There are some real critters down the bottom there. Always police around there. Gang activity too. Not your typical Mongrel Power Bees types but definitely the drug peddling driving high end cars type.
  7. If these new BMWs are reliable I'm calling that unfair on the classic BMW owners like us.
  8. Yeah Colinfurze did it a while back. And a go-kart And because some of you are old, but still like speed.
  9. Its just such a huge step away from what we all thought was BMW. Slap a Hyundai badge on it and it would never have been discussed here.
  10. Hmmm. I would like this. But some wreckers are paying stupid money for this stuff.
  11. It nearly always ends up not being perfect. Which will be why the pro's don't do it. A few of my old Nissans ended up having ripply guards when I went a bit to far. Good results took hours per guard and often burnt fingers from the heat gun. Most rollers you can buy are designed to only roll the edge up a little. Not flat. Flat requires panel beating and will nearly always crack the paint. You must have a good heat gun and roll in very small increments. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/car-parts-accessories/tools-repair-kits/repair-kits/listing/3575928793?bof=c6jO98Ug Recently I became old and look back at these sort of issues and just nope out and buy something that fits.
  12. Yeah filled the 130 today. Diesel was more expensive than petrol at Caltex over the road from the Waitomo I was at where it was 25c/l cheaper.
  13. Yup. Challenge in Greytown yesterday. 46.31litres $113.41 $2.449/l Wairarapa is usually cheaper than Wellington. Greytown and Martinborough are priced to catch Wellingtonians and the cashed up boo..retirees. On another note. Has anyone been told off for stockpiling RUC at the discounted price yet?
  14. Any radiator hose that has a plastic connector.... That is all of them. Especially the inlet on the front of the head. An upgrade is available via FCP.
  15. Wow not even detachable.
  16. New S is superior imo. The new 7 is just a sad looking new Rolls.

    Quick rant thread.

The resurgence of Caravans. Burn them all. NZ desperately needs to introduce a towing license similar to the UK. The Hyundai SUV with 2 adults, 3 kids, a full boot, 5 bikes on a flimsy bike rack, towing a shittyly restored early 80s wheeled chode of a caravan that has had all the rest of the luggage stored at the very back is quite bloody scary to follow. Especially when you realise the driver has probably never towed anything other than a rental trailer from his local gas station to move some cuttings of which he took 10 mins trying to back up his drive and took the downpipe drain off the side of his garage.
  18. All depends on what you want to bring in. Classic or modern. Add another 3k on top for the recently introduced "you're not buying a half dead Nissan Leaf" tax. The auctions are still a huge risk if you are buying blind. But they are much better than they were 10 years ago. Best to go via an agent that will take on some of the liability.
  19. I watched one sell for around 40k a month or so back. White one that was well specd with 30k less kms than the one posted. It also sat for sale for quite a while.
  20. Just kidding. It's the new BMW 7 Series. Hoping it's just a bad render. But not looking likely.
  21. Can do if you want. Will try and get around there tomorrow.
  22. He lives around the corner from me. They are all rooted. There is also a small BMW wrecker just around from me. Lots of E30's in various states. Owner must be an E30millionaire.
  23. Ha. Times have changed. I would have purposely taken my M325i out for a thrash in the bad weather.
  24. NZ was never a lovely safe haven. Ive got dozens of friends and family that have had multiple cars stolen. Some even at knife point. Just do your best to protect your vehicle. Never park in a Wilson's. Have a way to track it. Hope you get it back. Sadly my Wife can't park her 200sx anywhere without attracting the wrong people. So we rarely take it anywhere where it would be parked out of sight.
