To be honest it doesn't really matter. Who wants to store a car for 20 years with no idea how the laws will change in that time. I would say in the next 20 the noose will tighten for petrol cars.
-
Back when I was importing cars in the early 2000's it all went by the date it arrived at the NZ ports. So holding onto it for 20 years wouldn't work. There could be changes made to that rule now but I doubt it.

I would say you are going to have to go the SIV route. Otherwise the E39 M5's would already be coming into NZ via the dealers. I'm also pretty sure you need to have SIV approval before the car reaches NZ shores. Good luck.

I am actually looking to head home late May at the moment. If things change I will let you know as PA is only a few hours. Head up there all the time for concerts. I wouldn't buy a car further North than Baltimore to be honest. The rust is insane.

The one I saw sell for $12K (or whatever the deal ended up being) was advertised on a East Coast BMW facebook thing. Most are driven pretty damn hard here. Maybe why the good ones are going for so much. Also collector hype of people hoping to get the next E30 M3. The fake US E36 M3's are going up in price though. No idea why. They are sh*t compared to a real one. Join EastCoast BMW Classifieds on facebook if you want to see some more realistic prices here.

It is pretty well priced from what I hear. My old man is using it in his E55 Merc.
-
Saw one for sale for $12K the other day. The mint ones are high priced. But there is many many thrashed ones. And Bring a trailer should never be used to gauge car prices. There are some serious muppets buying cars on there.
-
To be honest. I wouldn't even pay half that. There was an entire kit with a turbonetics turbo, wastegates, ECU, all piping, intercooler and even an exhaust for sale here for $1700US a few months back. And for extra you could buy this cam and Ireland engineering rockers. Was a nice M54 supercharger kit for just over $2K too.

Just curious. What wheels? Are they rare or cheap? Because wheels here in the US are far cheaper and numerous than in NZ.
-
Yeah for sure. Will get another daily BMW/s. And then look to move the E34 away from the circuit and towards targa.
-
Before June this year at this stage. Not going back to Auckland though. Had enough of it. Will be the Wairarapa for a bit. Prob build a huge shed somewhere like what Chris has.

Can't wait to come back to NZ and join this total sh*t show... From old to new I feel that NZ houses are piles of sh*t compared to the US. It was -18 outside the other day. Yet I was warm in every room of the house. And I didn't even have the bloody heater on. And it was built in 1915.

Good choice. Looks great. But how the hell was the Jeep even in the running? Living in the US I see many of them. On the back of tow trucks and on the side of the highway.

Rant and feedback request - BMW Part Prices
Driftit replied to hugo_nz's topic in General Discussion
This reminds me. I have some parts I need to get overnight. Murica. -
So just misleading then.
-
You can always rent one from Hirepool. Pretty cheap.

I agree. Anything Ceccotto has been removed from this vehicle. The Ceccotto edition was all aesthetics. And as you said the cars been painted. Over the limited edition paint. It's just an M3 race car now. With some documented history which is nice.
-
I think I have said this before about this car. But that is a terrible looking car. It looks like something Homer Simpson came up with using the BMW parts bin.
-
It states in the blurb it was imported to be turned into a Race car in the UK by someone who has a number of other unique cars.

If you got a Camry you could drive for Uber at night. Don't forget to not wear deodorant. I reckon if you are gonna go VAG you might as well go Panamera. Also the new M2 will come with 4 doors. Or you could try an F30 M3 or even the 340i. They are big cars now.
-
Take it out. Install a nice hidden kill switch. Brendan at Hope Hickman Auto Elec in Grey Lynn might be able to make it behave for you though.
-
Didn't sell. Muricans are paranoid about rust. Which if you saw how much salt I drove through on Sunday night you would understand. I think the front of my car got sand(salt) blasted on the highway.
-
That is actually quite a lot of KM's for a Singapore car this new. As much as I like a quick diesel. I would rather have a M5.
-
No mine were just solid ones. I think the ones Paul was using were the same as mine. Through ADL. I worked there at the time.

The Brembo rotors we were using in the race series were utter sh*t. Stopped buying that stuff long ago. They were no better than those shitty $12 rotors I was using that only lasted one weekend. Brembo ones kept cracking.
