    Quick rant thread.

Just got me a new TV and sound system too Glenn. Just one cable to connect them. New HDMI 2.0 cable and away she went. New couch arrived yesterday too. Really killing any motivation to be in the garage though.
  2. As it's not a desirable model and it seems you paid top dollar I wouldn't spend a cent more and just enjoy driving it. Just maintain and get the most out of driving it. 17s do not suit E30s. You will also struggle to find a decent offset in 4x100.
  3. That steering wheel looks huge. Was it made from the basic E30 wheel? Tech 1 or 2 steering wheel. Better wheels and lower ride height. Paint it the factory color. Paint black or fit motorsport window trim. LSD Motorsport interior Convert to RHD (LHD is a total pain in the ass. Especially on the open road.) Look at all the bushings. Most will need attention/replacement if they are original.
  4. Since this car is actually a standard 325i and has been miss-advertised as a motorsport could the poor bugger who paid way too much for it take the seller to court? Or could they argue that they meant the title as 325i with M Tech II kit? I mean the new owner thinks the car has only had one previous owner.... Its a Jap import. It could have had 20+ owners over there. You don't get those records with the Jap de-reg papers. I kinda feel sorry for him. But he did ignore all advice.
  5. Does it hit Vtec? ^^ someone doesn't know there is no H in VTEC.
  6. They are always after car trailers. Makes it easier to steal the Skyline/WRX/EVO/Silvia they are after. Nothing wrong with newer Link ECU's. Best bang for buck. Can buy/Install/Tune x3 for the price of a Motec ECU on its own.
  7. I wasn't a fan of the E60 styling either. But now I love it. And since owning one I realised how dated the E39 looks. The E60 fits in nicely 10 years later.

    Quick rant thread.

Tradies driving these huge modern utes. No car can corner faster, accelerate faster or stop faster.
  9. Jesus you really took this all to heart didn't you. I thought you would have caught on that I didn't really care when I accepted your challenge to a race that you never gave... There was even a winky face in there too.
  10. The average of the 525i's on that site is 11.5. So the E30 is still more economical. Which was my point. Mine must be a freak. Or just properly maintained. But I shall accept your challenge of which car is faster. 5 laps of Hampton Downs.
  11. Ah found my one. Data is old because I got lazy and stopped using it. But average of 9.4L/100kms with 93% city driving. http://www.fuelly.com/car/bmw/325m/1987/driftit/143134
  12. Average including both street and open is in the 9's for many. http://www.fuelly.com/car/bmw/325is/1987 and higher for the 525i on average. http://www.fuelly.com/car/bmw/525i/2001
  13. It really is like $650 to fit it in a vent. $50 for the electronics. I did see gauge holders for vents when I was looking around on Ebay. They were for E90's too. I was after something for the Mrs S13 at the time. They were less than $30USD. Fit your own gauge to it. Or mod it and fit a OLED Arduino kit to it. You could even run it on a Raspberry Pi. And display it on a factory screen if your car has one. Pi's are a little slow to start up though.
  14. Keep crashing them. Makes mine go up in value. Slowly. Out of all the BMW's I have driven. I still get the most enjoyment out of the E30. Only one I could imagine that would just as fun would be the 2002. Not considering the M cars of course. And Allan sorry but there is no way in hell a 525 is more economical or faster than an E30. My E30. Open road: 5.8 to 6.1L/100kms Town: 8.9L/100kms. My E30 is only 4 seconds off my 535 race car at hampton. Which is 300kgs lighter than your E39.
  15. Wow. That is expensive. As Josh said. Make one. http://freematics.com/products/#cate_lcd
  16. Had a towie come past me a few mins ago at the airport. Had a Subaru Legacy behind him on a dolly. Car was making some interesting sounds. That will be $200 Oh and we rooted your car. Not our fault.

    Quick rant thread.

The quality of driving by parents picking their kids up from school. The only thing on their mind is getting the best parking spot so their kid doesn't have to walk 1km to home. The Oteha Valley to Constellation Drive stretch of motorway. They spent all this time building what I thought was a new lane to smooth out the 2 lane cluster f**k. It was a bus lane. Which I have yet to see a bus use. There is now also no shoulder now. So if someone breaks down.. It is even bad on the weekend. NEVER put a salesperson in charge of a company. The direction of the company changes for every bloody sales opportunity..

Less tech than an 87 Mitsi Sigma.
  19. At best the head gasket is on its way out. At its worst it could be the block has been cracked from over tightening the head bolts.
  20. Just a bitsa. Was expecting a very low km original for that price. It has just about every bolt on you can get. But not close to original at all.
  21. Hmm I know a few people after those wheels. Pm me what you are after if you wish to sell. Might be good for Auction.
  22. Isn't that a worn out Tech 1 steering wheel? Thought the Mtec2 had a different one.
  23. I have just had a similar thing happen to me. But we dealt with it a different way. I didn't go running to the media after the issue had been resolved like the tosser in the "article" did. We supplied all the data to the owner. Let him have his say and a bit of time to look at the situation. We got a written apology from the employee that had breached our trust and the law. It happened to be a 19 year old mechanic. If we had supplied the data to the police he would have lost his licence for at least 12 months. 158kph. The owner couldn't apologize enough. He was quite embarrassed by it all. We were given our money back for all the work that had been completed. Although the owner is responsible for his staff. He can't stop them from making mistakes. This kid made a pretty big mistake and cost his employer business. I doubt he will be doing it again anytime soon knowing how close he came to loosing his job and his licence. Because of this I had no interest in sharing the info with the Media or the Police. It would ruin his business. And that is just not fair. You need to be careful these days. With the focus on Health and Safety more and more vehicles are having telematics devices installed into them. Police are using this data as evidence quite frequently now. I work for a telematics company. I often see drivers being let go for excessive speed. And am getting more and more requests from Police to supply data from crashes.
