That might have been the owner before the owner who crashed it though. Re-compliance will be the money burner for that car. Better slip them some beers.
-
Profit can still be made. Just never advertise it on Bimmersport or as an Auction on TM. Its past will quickly be brought to light. People still have the nostalgia goggles on for these cars though. Some don't care what condition it is in.

I hate anything made by VAG bar Scania's. But especially do not like Porkers.

Do this. It will be fun. Or go an break it open and let the weather deal to it.

E60 vs E90, thoughts and opinions welcome
Driftit replied to DR1FTMONKEY's topic in General Discussion
The diesels are not that different. All the basic stuff you can still do yourself. There is a ton of guides as there is a ton of 330D's and 530D's around. Mine is up to 200,000kms now and it hasn't missed a beat. -
E60 vs E90, thoughts and opinions welcome

Same boat. Hence the similar user name. Sold all my Turbo Japs and started driving Euros. Then started racing Euros. Much better scene overall. You would be surprised by the 530D. They will just keep going and going. Servicing is no more than the petrol bar oil price. They have more tourqe than the petrol and are only a fraction slower 0-100. But having the extra torque makes them fun in the twisty roads. Have a drive of one. They are massively popular in the UK because you loose very little performance and gain much more fuel economy. RUC is a pain to manage. But lucky for me I work in that industry. The 330D and 335D haul ass. -
E60 vs E90, thoughts and opinions welcome

We went for the E60 over the E90. The interior is far superior. I felt the E90 was a bit poverty pack in comparison. Picked up an E60 530D. Get around 1100kms to a tank on a long trip. Average consumption is between 6.5 and 8.5 L/100kms. Has more torque than the 530i. I went for a Motorsport as I found the standard E60's kit to really let the car down. Our car is actually for sale at the moment though. We are downsizing our fleet. 8 cars in the driveway is not ideal. And surprisingly if I was to buy another modern BMW I would go for another diesel. Unless it was a true M car. -
Well I would say there is about 10 Bimmersporters looking for their next car. Lots more lurkers thinking they will scoop it up to make a buck. And about 5 BMW wreckers who will pay more than all of you. If it was returned to its prior condition. It would fetch $12K plus as I am pretty sure that's what it sold for just a few months back. Has that typical Rotary owner done up look with a 200K price tag. Yuck.
-
The parts to repair it are generic E30 parts. So I hope someone picks it up to restore too.
-
I would love a G wagon. The G55 AMG Supercharged or later Turbo.
-
I think the kid looked at buying my car. Glad he didn't. I am betting it will go over $5k. And if not you got a steal.
-
Do you want an OE or do you want to spend all your time trying to get cars out of the country. Expect to waste weeks doing this unless you are paying someone else who does it for a living.

It would be better to name the Jap cars that are not dull that are still made. Evo Wrx GTR LFA FT86 (painfully slow) That's all I can think of. And the base models of the Evo and Wrx are dull. All the Jap cars that I loved before finding the light are no longer made.
-
Most Japanese cars are boring and don't have soul. Especially new ones.
-
Spotted one for you today. Good looking blonde driving a newer Megane Turbo.

Netflix is great for re-runs. I have had the US Netflix for a long time. To be honest I could ditch it and never miss it. I still download all the latest shows.
-
Some nice parts on it. Shame its a 4 door though. 4 door E30's are great for racecars but crap for carting passengers. Less room than a coupe.
-
DO NOT get an RS4. You WILL regret it. They pretty much keep Qualitat in business with gearbox and cooling system replacements.
-
So BMW is saying it is okay to misrepresent your BMW. The thing we all hate. M badges for everyone!!!!!!! Doing a VAG and diluting the brand. Too many models.
-
You could not pay me to own anything from VAG group. The horror stories of service costs and that always present fear your gearbox is going to explode. Guy at work has his RS4 getting a new box. I think he was looking at well over $10K. But I agree with the BMW model numbers. 'Equivalent to' is a stupid way of doing it. Yes the E36 323i's and E39 540's from the 90's were not actually 2.3ltr and 4ltr motors. But they were close to what they were. Why not just a 320t for a 2ltr Turbo. Or the 330tt for the 3ltr twin turbo. While they are at it they can get rid of the 4 series. Everyone said you would get used to it. That never happened. Would take the proper M3 any day.

There is a bare shell with cage for sale on that race car website Jon.
-
Isn't the "Sport" mod on an E60 exactly the same as putting the car in tiptronic mode?
-
Make sure you are there on the test day then. Hasn't finished a race since the Turbo "upgrade". James and I were quite a bit faster in James 3.2ltr E30 than it at Puke. They did have issues though and didn't turn up to the race. But they will get it right. They car is an amazing piece of work up close. Would have cost a house to build (Not Auckland).
