Get a Leaf!

The undervoltage codes are almost certainly because the battery is low, thats what that means, just because it is new doesn't mean it is full!! A low battery can cause all sorts of codes in these, the problem will be figuring out what is sucking all the power out of the battery, I am going through a similar issue with my M5 at the moment, I keep a trickle charger on it all the time otherwise it won't start after a few days, and it had a new battery in November! Contnental cars kept it overnight and did an energy diagnostic but didn't come up with anything concrete so I am still trying to figure it out....

I mean, if you are re-mapping a 320d to get more power you may have bought the wrong car for your needs, there are plenty of faster options, even in diesel, that don't require sacrificing reliability or emissions controls.

Swapped over the complete toolkit from pick a part, resisted the urge to include the spark plug tool to make it totally complete!!

Replaced left rear window lifter mechanism, the casting that carries the window was twisted and cracked and the cable had lost its little ferrule that keeps it in place! Also gave it a long overdue wash, I keep thinking I should give it a polish, but the paint is so bad I think it would be a wasted effort.

Finally fixed one of the more worrying previous repairs carried out on the old girl, at some stage someone had damaged the section of the drivers door card that covers the airbag, and decided to turn it into a home made Claymore mine by repairing it with a good solid layer of Araldite! I shudder to think what this would have done to me if the airbag had ever deployed!! As you can see there is some silicone in there as well, just in case. Replaced with a good door card from Pick a part, unfortunately it was from an electric seat car so it has the memory buttons which mine has no need for ( manual leather heated seats for the win) so I will keep an eye out for a correct replacement, but in the meantime this one won't cut me in half if the worst happens!

Most of the trip was in 7th, in P500 mode, or what I call. "economy mode" 😂

Took the M5 to Matamata and back yesterday, easy run, hardly any load, managed to get the average consumption down to 13.6 which is the best its ever been!!
-
From memory it hangs off the bottom of the top part of the intake manifold, it would probably be worth making sure you had a few meters of new vacuum hose before you start digging around, you will end up replacing all of them!
-
Nice one. My 318is had a ropey idle as well, a good clean of the ICV and throttle body will do wonders for it!

Replaced water pump, thermostat, fan belt, coolant, vacuum pump O ring, bottom rad hose showing signs of age so will order a new one, also couldn't get correct O ring for vacuum pump, made do with an undersized one and some sealant, will order correct one . Car actually gets up to normal temperature now! Still had original water pump with plastic impeller, 320,000 km and no signs of failing, but better safe than sorry.... Front brake pads still bedding in but no signs of squealing so far!!
-
Probably not, I imagine there is a big aluminium beam in there somewhere to meet frontal impact standards and it blocks more airflow than the plate anyway.

Red E36 touring heading north towards Warkworth this afternoon, possibly @jeffbebe ??

All I can see in this post now is NC Sexpert! Sorry!
-
Yep, on its way home from pick a part! Scored a replacement drivers door card, a boot floor and some trim bits, and A COMPLETE TOOLKIT!!
-
Replaced the front brake pads today, they worked fine and had plenty of life left in them but they squealed a LOT when they were hot, hoping pads will sort it, if not it will get new rotors as well. Also got a new water pump, thermostat and coolant to go in so thats my holiday job .

E30 M3 owners would disagree....

"Very original" apart from the manual conversion and aftermarket gauges in the center console.....

I believe the intention was to cover things like volunteer work, where people aren't getting paid but there is still a need for someone to be responsible for H & S. It could potentially be expanded to cover sex with your partner but I don't think that was the intention!

e70 Trailer Wiring - No Brake Lights on OEM Kit
aja540i replied to tawa's topic in Electrical system
That is an American style trailer plug, it has combined turn /stop lights. Electric brake output is for trailers with electric brake controllers your module possibly doesn't have an output for that. The brake light fault is probably because of the LED indicators, you can get in line resistors to fix that. Is the module you got a US spec one? -
Needs a good polish....

I feel a Sreten (M539) project coming on...
aja540i replied to balancerider's topic in TradeMe discussions
Yeah, spending a bit of time on the wheels, still a few mechanical bits to sort out, but it is quite usable now so have slowed the pace a bit on the spending. -

One cylinder malfunctioning.?.. I imagine this is in a similar state to what my 530d wagon was when I got it, and needs a few grand thrown at it to make it nice again. -
2.5 star fuel economy, but you knew that already!
