    KwS's E36 318ti

Nice one. My 318is had a ropey idle as well, a good clean of the ICV and throttle body will do wonders for it!

    E39 oil burner

Replaced water pump, thermostat, fan belt, coolant, vacuum pump O ring, bottom rad hose showing signs of age so will order a new one, also couldn't get correct O ring for vacuum pump, made do with an undersized one and some sealant, will order correct one . Car actually gets up to normal temperature now! Still had original water pump with plastic impeller, 320,000 km and no signs of failing, but better safe than sorry.... Front brake pads still bedding in but no signs of squealing so far!!
  3. Probably not, I imagine there is a big aluminium beam in there somewhere to meet frontal impact standards and it blocks more airflow than the plate anyway.
  4. Red E36 touring heading north towards Warkworth this afternoon, possibly @jeffbebe ??

    E39 oil burner

Replaced the front brake pads today, they worked fine and had plenty of life left in them but they squealed a LOT when they were hot, hoping pads will sort it, if not it will get new rotors as well. Also got a new water pump, thermostat and coolant to go in so thats my holiday job .
  8. E30 M3 owners would disagree....
  9. "Very original" apart from the manual conversion and aftermarket gauges in the center console.....
  10. I believe the intention was to cover things like volunteer work, where people aren't getting paid but there is still a need for someone to be responsible for H & S. It could potentially be expanded to cover sex with your partner but I don't think that was the intention!
  11. That is an American style trailer plug, it has combined turn /stop lights. Electric brake output is for trailers with electric brake controllers your module possibly doesn't have an output for that. The brake light fault is probably because of the LED indicators, you can get in line resistors to fix that. Is the module you got a US spec one?
  12. Yeah, spending a bit of time on the wheels, still a few mechanical bits to sort out, but it is quite usable now so have slowed the pace a bit on the spending.
  13. One cylinder malfunctioning.?.. I imagine this is in a similar state to what my 530d wagon was when I got it, and needs a few grand thrown at it to make it nice again.
  14. 2.5 star fuel economy, but you knew that already!
  15. Are you turning an E30 into a ute?
  16. https://www.bunnings.co.nz/morgan-45l-bullet-bin-black_p0028091 One of these, some tin snips and a hot air gun??
  17. I am definitely not a psychopath, and I will stab anyone who says I am!
  18. Who replaces a wing mirror without bothering to match the paint? They are so easy to paint off the car and such a ball ache to remove to do it later!!
  19. I use Gough, they have a branch just around the road from work but all the testing is done in Christchurch I believe, you buy the kit from them and drop it back to them, they send it to the lab and email the results.
  20. I did a set for my e39 540i touring in coal dust, it is an old colour now but I chose it because the brake dust doesn't show up on it!! We really only do our own product but it is a mix of galv steel and aluminium, and we have the pre treatment tanks for both, so I would be lying if I said I hadn't seen a few sets of wheels going through I usually dip strip or sand blast (depending on the finish of the wheels) then run them through the pre treatment process, I am currently doing a set of style 66s for the 530d but I am going to wet paint them as I couldn't find the exact right colour in powder coat.
  21. I think you mean SAFETY scheme!!
  22. is it just a gloss black? Seems odd that a powder coating place wouldn't have gloss black! As with painting, prep is the key to good results, the only other step I would recommend is a chemical treatment to coat the bare alloy before powder coating, if the place you use does a lot of aluminium they should be able to do it for you, we have tanks that we dip everything in to pre treat.
