The biggest reasons are wheels and Brakes. You can weld tabs on e30 struts and mount the sway bar like an M3. garagistic sells them. The hubs fit over a spindle on the struts, they are not the same between regular e30 and M3's or else it would be as simple as a hub/bearing swap. Struts are essentialy the same, with the upper tab for Sway bar. http://store.garagistic.com/e30-performance-parts/e30-2002-weld-on-tabs http://store.garagistic.com/E30-Adjustable-Front-Sway-Bar-Links

Mines just stock I think, It looks lower than most e30's I thought it might have M sport suspension being an SE. I only use it as my run around so haven't really tinkered with it. Not sure if it was me, I can't remember the last time I went down cobham, but I was over that way of town last weekend. I'd remember if I saw an e30 like yours though.

Had to check my driveway. Looks exactly like mine, but weaves not bottlecaps.

I already have 5mm spacers, don't want to use anything bigger. What do you have?

Looking for a set of 16's to use as track wheels, Anyone have anything that will fit over big brakes? I'm almost not too fussed about style if they are cheap but I may consider AC Schnitzers or Hartges if anyone has in 16's as I know they fit. E30 4x100 obviously.

This isn't the first time, at least in this instance the car was not crushed, most likely to attempt to recover unpaid fines. This will all be under the vehicle confiscation 3 strikes in 4 years for previous driving offences so there will definitely be more to the story. http://www.legislation.govt.nz/bill/government/2009/0042/latest/DLM2095708.html

After finally looking at it, I only just thought about how much fun that will be routing brake lines and the vacuum line in to where the booster will be lol, but it does look nice.

Best Brake Booster For M52B28 E30 Conversion?
e30ftw replied to darrencnz's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
You may have the wrong one Stephen. Yes the push rod is shorter, you fit a spacer into the master cylinder. Just make sure it's the correct length. I have used Mk2 Golf ones always, not sure what year. Exactly the same as e30 though. -
Well there is signage "uneven surface", it's more for awareness than anything. I'm sure if they didn't some numpty would manage to have a crash changing lanes over it and blame them for no warning. Not like they can out a couple hundred meters of cones to divide the lanes.
-
I went over that a couple days ago, to me it looks like because they resurfaced one side it's either higher or lower than the right lane. I'd say it's to avoid people changing lanes at 100kmh over a lip in the road.

Couldn't end up using these so they are sale. They are 2.5" in, 3" out. Rolled tips. Polished Stainless. 8" long. $70 shipped

Complain to the council. IIRC someone on here a while ago did when they broke their oil pan on a poorly repaired road and they paid in part to replace it.

There was one listed today on that BMW NZ Parts FB page, $600 Auckland

Nice, 3rd gear pull or skid? lol

Driveshaft Nah, but slave cylinder has to be the E36 one. It's alot different to the e30 one. The clutch and flywheel shouldn't be an issue, though the input shaft size may bet different (15mm vs 12mm), forget which has which but will pay to check the pilot bearing is the right size.
-
Well depends where you mount the engine really, you can read the lengths online on RealOEM, Just check it uses the larger diameter guibo and you will be able to use an e36 ZF or possibly some E46 driveshaft. I literally just used an e30 rear half and an E36 328i Auto (ZF) front half and it fit perfect. Yours sits more forward so you could check the manual driveshafts or atleast use a 328 auto shaft and extend the front section, it's quite fat.
-
You should be able to use a e30 rear half, real easy to come across, and an e36 front half from a ZF with the bigger flange that mates to the 420G. Measure it up, you might find something OEM that fits, I did.

Out of curiosity, Is distilled water necessary? I picked up some BMW coolant from Jeff Gray and they said mix it with tap water when I asked.

True story, coming from an IT company it is much of the same, driving for new business and no focus on the actual delivery until it is put into the spotlight.

Stumbled upon this on R3v, some guys creating a project video series modifying cars - starting with an E30 Touring. Some nice video work and shots, really sets the era for a classic. Episode 1 Episode 2

Never realized they sit so far forward. Is that so the sump stays as is? Plenty of room to push it back more.
