I agree, I enjoy some of the body prep work, I just know I have about 20 hours of sanding and grinding ahead haha but will be good to see how it starts transforming the detail.

Right, now comes the nansy details parts. Started masking off everything in the rear / deck. Started sanding back all the surface rust and clear coat and over spray and rubber and welds and this and that. Hoping to get the entire deck incl tyre arches and rear window panel, all smoothened out and ready for deck lining and some paint this weekend.

Well the motor seems fine ATM, although it has signs of the over heating in the past. I defiantly want to at least do the rocker cover gaskets just to get a look inside the motor. Its has a thermostat replaces and a radiator hose, so without actually opening up the engine, I cant really say what the internal condition is like. And I agree with you on not replacing parts for the hell of it. Jerry Clayton seem to think, that if done correctly, the M62 non-vanos can handle close to 10psi. Some even 1bar. But you never know until you try. So I guess its fair to say that buying a semi built motor is probably not the way to go. Just means I have to do some more DYI haha

well if it doesn't work out, you can just grind it back haha. Well when your out my ways again, let me know and we can T up a time to get them holes closed
-
Hahaha by all means. Getting pretty good at coin welds now, but you could borrow the welder too if need be.
-
Love it! will look good once they on. Hows the rear diffuser coming along?
-
Haha, yea I would love the S62. But $15K is a little out of reach for now. Like my 540 M62 pulls pretty sweet at the moment, but it really does need to be rebuilt or at least cleaned up enough to withstand the supercharger being rammed onto it. Guess if I was to sell my Mazda Atenza, I could take that and the $5k for the engine rebuild and buy the S62.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/bmw/engines/auction-815555541.htm worth pursuing as appose to buying the parts and doing it myself / paying a pro to do it?

Ah sweet. Will speak to him. It's gonna be pretty intensive as it needs to be able to handle the super charger and I have 8 throttle bodies being installed as part of the custome intake manifold. Need to replace all gaskets, seals and have the heads and valves cleaned. Have a mate doing the full re polish acid dip on most parts too.
-
Thanks for that. Just need to figure out what that resistance load is. PS. Do you offer engine rebuilds? Im going to start getting my M62 ready for a rebuild towards end of January.
-
Yea, might have to contact Ray or Brent. But ill keep looking as im sorting out shelving and what not for parts at the moment, so ill begin stocking these and hopefully come across them. And yep, when ever you get back for cup holder is all good.

Ive had a looksee on google, couldn't really find much, but does anyone know the weight load the rear window regulators / motors can push? The rear windows are about 6kg each from memory, plus the force of them being pushed and pulled between rubber liners. So im thinking around 10-13kg each? These will be used to lift the rear deck lid on the ute, so kinda wanting to know if the will handle the load.

There is a guy on trade me selling this, but he wants $300 for the front. Been on there for ages, might take an offer http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/performance/body-kits-mouldings/auction-815987725.htm

I haven't seem to track down the panels But I do have the cup holder from the 540 that im about to strip down for parts to well off. Ill pull the cup holder this weekend for you. $40?

Im looking at ordering a rebuild kit for the M62. Pelicans Total is $6500 USD incl shipping. How did you find ECS Tuning in comparison to Pelican?
-
Haha yea, its only cos the mrs has been occupied by xmas shopping and catching up with friends before everyone heads away for the holidays. That, and have the patients to cut everything really slow to get it to fit near perfect. hopefully the finished product is worthy of the time and effort

Completed all the wiring and everything is working as it should. No error messages, all lights working. Also got the deck floor 90% complete, need to pop rivet the right side in and then fabricate the inner trays. Will be using the Hibbo Deck Liner stuff to line the deck this weekend.
