  3. Got the car started yesterday, glad nothing has blown up and she sounds pretty good, too bad the 6'a will be gone soon. Then began the fabrication on the tailgate, but there is a substantial amount of rust, so will be cleaning that up Also Got the cabin walls finished today, will weld them in this week and begin the rear window. Fabrication shop said the tray walls should be ready this week too. On another not I cleaned up the reverse sensor wiring and tow bar wiring that I forgot about.
  4. I had the same thing in the touring, and only just fixed it after doing the wiring relocation. Turns out that it was the Liquid Alarm sensor in the boot behind all the amps and cd changer etc. What I did was disconnect the battery, unplug the sensor and remove it. Placed it on the kitchen bench until the liquid settles at the same level, then plug it back in and reconnect the battery. Also have a look at fuse 48 above the battery, its the alarm fuse and that red/blk wire is integrated into the central locking system too
  5. Actually the spare wheel still fits, but yea, im still looking for Msport rear bumper and quad exhaust haha
  6. Started the tail gate and finished up on the wiring relocation and de looming. Made up a new ground point using a bolt hole for the old seat belts. Just need to build the new battery box with 1 farad capacitor holder, then will test that I haven't messed anything up. Teaser taken during tailgate fabrication

    E36 M3 Resto-mod.

Ive used this little device from PB Tech. Ill trytrack down the link for you, but its basically USB3.0 to Serial adapter. it uses XP drivers but worked pretty well on Win7. You might have to adjust the voltage priority on your USB3.0 port from 5~7V to 5~9V to get the most out of the device.
  8. Is an A-SURE AE39. Not oem, but plug direct into the ECU, Wiring Systems, CanBus etc Can control and diagnose everything from it. Its actually a pretty sweet little unit.
  9. I second Darren's "WIN" post, that kit on the blue E31 looks the money!
  10. but on another note, Brent Jedi Mind tricked me into getting this...
  11. Well ill be making the most of Saturday to get the rear finished (minus the rear window) so feel free to pop on over. And I guess you could say that the "project" is just a cover up to hid the blood stains on the driveway...
  12. haha yes, that would be the one. Massive blue tent over it with tools and what nots too.
  13. I may be wrong, but I would have thought the light module was in the rear near the battery, well at least that is where it is on the E34, E39 and E46. But if they have moved it to the front, well that is pretty redic! Perhaps have a look in the roof of the boot, between the speakers, there might be an easier access point for re-routing the wires, but hopefully you get it sorted soon as I agree, its a massive pain having those wires strip and break
  14. haha no worries. My shed is filled with lady boxes, so I don't even have one
  15. Ah nice. Yea, ill get a bottle of this as well. Will test them on the rear part of the roof lining to see what finishes best. Did you manage to sort some pics out of those parts you have for sale?
  16. So after spending Saturday helping my son Dye his costume black for a school play, I had the idea of trying the Dye out on the interior roof and pillar lining for the Ute. So I have stripped them out and will give them a good clean today. Will upload some photos tomorrow to see how they have come out. Pack of black dye is about $10 from countdown and makes up to 10L which should be enough. Luckily the interior lining is in good nick and not coming apart - yet
  17. If the E39 and the E61 have the same wiring harness from the connector in the roof (between the upper rear speakers) to the connectors in the rear boot lid, you can have mine for free. My wires haven't split or bent and are still in tak in the off cut roof for my E39 Touring. So just a matter of getting them un plugged and sending them to you
  18. It was a really good day. You sure showed the boys up on their driving "skills"! I took a few photos and this one is of you prepping for the last hot lap with Mike
  19. Yep, quite a bit of work but luckily the cost so far hasn't been that much haha
  20. does anyone have or know of anyone where I could get one?
  21. haha well luckily the mrs has been over seas for the last 2 weeks and away for the next 3 weeks, or the work rate might be allot slower.
  22. haha I might keep the hot rod steel look for the next ute project Im thinking about, but for the E39, it will be flat steel tray with 3 hidden compartments in the middle.
  23. Havent updated for a wee while as I thought id keep the updates to "complete stages" All tray wall panels have been cut and fitted. Ill be sending these away tomorrow to be blasted and bent, then the will be fitted and trimmed into their fixed positions with rivets and welded in. Ive also cut most of the flooring out, will update again once they have been blasted and pent to fit.
  24. ooh that is pretty. where do you get this from? Im ordering one of these next month
  25. Sweet, thanks. Think the will go well with the front set up of the ute
