  1. No surprise, I would expect a Mitsubishi would be faster than many modern performance cars, even faster than a brand new M3. A mate had a 1992 GSR RS back in the day, was built with random second hand parts and managed a 12.6 quarter mile. Best of all the only thing modified was the engine so it was a real sleeper. Mitsubishi's are very capable in the corners and off road too, I am always shocked at how fast the Evo's are at rally's, even the Evolution 4 is still a very fast car by modern standards, performance bargain at the moment and a great base for a rally car, perhaps the best entry level car available.
  2. Sad news. This is always hard as a community. Wishing you and your family strength to get through this.
  3. Excite. I do like your project. Have seen a few in this colour combo.. or I have seen your car a few places. Plus, the thread title always pulls me it. Cougars are a lot of fun, so much experience at that age, plus they seem to be very comfortable in their own skin.. even if that skin is a bit saggy in places.
  4. I would take a 325i SE over a M325i, at least its not trying to look fast so its less embarrassing when a family in a Toyota Highlander drags you off. Also, four doors are handy. 325i SE with Motorsport suspension and diff would do me.
  5. Was watching. Kind of what I was after, as said, no 15" wheels and a few other options. Thats good money for this car.

Get to work. Smells musty. Workshop flooded, lots of damage. Must have rained a lot when I was away up north. Subaru's. Second engine in six months, same problem, no oil pressure, blown turbo. Standing on side of the road on a rally stage again watching cars go past holding a sign that says OK. Having to reconcile a co-driver who has just spent 10k on a new engine and now faces a rebuild. Could have should have won our class too, some great driving in the morning.
  7. Awesome project. Next level. In love. Will need a tow bar.
  8. Haha. These are big vehicles, perhaps a bit big for Kiwi roads, would hate to try and park one or drive one at a decent pace on a back road. I bet they tow well though. They need to bring these in, German annihilating performance.

In an ideal world, every pump would have a percolated coffee nozzle. Can just see it. Diesel. 91. 98. Black Coffee.
  10. Haha, wasn't that quick, its not about the speed its about the balls, you felt that on that crest, now imagine that for a solid day on blind roads the driver doesn't know... most of the cars are less than 300bhp, my car is only 250bhp, but I match and beat cars with 600bhp or more, and thats race drivers. I guess thats what awesome about it compared to rack stuff, its another skill level, nothing better than beating a guy with a car that cost 10 times more than your POS hatchback or old Subaru. You should have a drive next time, sounds like you may have the balls for it? I am looking at buying another rally hack to get into gravel driving next year, start on rally sprints and see how it goes. Maybe start with an old Civic or Toyota and see how it goes. I have been in a few cars, V8 Super-tourers on slicks, GT cars etc, some rather fast road stuff and nothing was even remotely scary after being in or driving a rally car at max attack on a blind road, tracks are about power and repetition... anyone can get good at something if they do it over and over. I would like to go in, or better have a drive of a full on drift car one day though, now that is a bit interesting, I had a good play in my old V8 BMW and that was fun, lots of smoke and two f**ked tyres. Better still it was an Audi trackday so they all got scared by oversteer.
  11. True. Closed streets are all good. Just don't go using it to run to the shops or in touring. I will add hydraulic handbrakes to my list of things that are choice bro. Spot apex, turn in, lift hand brake, floor it. Smile. Now if only I hadn't lost all my in-car footage from the last event. Thanks MACBOOK.
  12. You are not supposed to use anti lag on the street. Keeps the turbo rebuilders in business though!
  13. Its hard to imagine just how fast they are when we go through at what feels like maximum attack and they do the same 20km of road 90seconds faster. We are fast though, even your average Kiwi car is 2seconds a kilometre faster than the cars 10years ago. Doesn't sound like a lot but over a few days thats huge. Cant wait!! First two stages are in the dark tomorrow night, we have 12 brand new tyres for the event and a new engine and ECU, hard to think you can drop $20,000 prepping for one event. In the words of a legend. "If in doubt, flat out"
  14. Don't get me started on that. haha. I have many stories of f**k ups, trials and tribulations, the last one was the biggest, ramming anther car mid corner mid stage at speed.. Good times. Anyway, wearing the right under wear is a good idea too.. nothing like full opposite lock at massive speeds to loosen breakfast. I have to hand it to anyone who co-drives, you need big balls.
  15. I would love to have you "passenger" my rally car one day. That would be hilariously funny. Even more amusing would be seeing someone try to get to the stage on time and fill out the time cards.. and that before reading pace notes at pace without shitting in their pants. Reminds me of a really good song though.
  16. Winter. I can gain 5kg, grow a beard and wear the same thing 6 days a week, black Levi's and a black jumper, just swap out tee shirt and briefs. Rally Whangarei this weekend, come say hi, I am in the Manukau Auto Centre red 1995 STI RA, unless I get a seat in Ken Blocks car. Here he is, testing yesterday. Rally is the sh*t.

All I can say is thank goodness for awesome brakes... and second to third gear power pulls with no mufflers past the f**kers. WHHHHHHHHSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH BANG! Eat my flames!! And, why do you all shave your legs? And wear lycra, especially the fat blokes, and thats a lot of you. You know what will make you faster?? Less f**king food, you look like a bald sausage. Motor Cyclists are not much better on back roads, the amount of fast on the straights and then slow on the corners riders is phenomenal. News flash, you can't corner, so get out my way, speeding up every straight so I can't pass you is stupid and you look like a pussy who can't use your toy. Drop a knee, be a man... actually, apply that to most motorists in fast cars also. I think I just need a more powerful car. Yep, that my problem.
  18. Fixed. I swear a lot of people think they are in state of the art racing car and gas stations are pit stops. Hot mince and cheese pie on a cold day.

    E36 M3

I like it. Was my favourite colour on these when I was a kid. Still remember them in many colours all parked up at Jerry Claton. Was like skittles but awesome m3's. Unfortunately, I would have liked to own one but I was just a kid, and the candle burned out.. and well. Not so legend. Would still love to drive one in a retro Charlotte Hornets Stater jacket and tasseled brown boat shoes. Just for lols.
  20. Another thing to consider is noise reduction. I supercharged a car once and used a pod. The noise was horrid, cool for a week or so and then its just annoying. Ended up modifying the OEM air box and used dynamat (s) on the inside of the box. Power wise there was no differance. K&N has always served well, 10 years is not uncommon.

    e30 tweeter pods

Not necessarily. Wreckers are often more expensive for random parts. I always shop around new proves first, second hand is a last resort. Pelican Parts used to be good.

They are hard to get. Can you buy them new perhaps? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  25. That van does not look 30 to me. This is the strangest thing I have seen today.
