nine out of ten Kiwi drivers slow down for an over pass, so it would not be a surprise. I have notices that most people speed into that tunnel though, I cant understand / can understand why the speed limit is 80 all the way from Khyber Pass to Onewa road, its painful and everyone seems to do at least 90 anyway.

Could be because the speed limit is 80 and peoples speed creeps up as the enter the tunnel? I am always paranoid they have speed camera's. To the guy traveling in the silver Hyundai Tuscan southbound near Mt Wellington last night, speeding up and then tail gating me when I move into the passing lane to pass is not cool bro, I hope your brakes and reflexes got a good test... to the guy in the middle lane who speed up when I moved out to pass, f**k you too douch... all this resulted in my date getting very upset with me and I didn't get any action at all. Yours sincerely, the wanker in the White Renault Other drivers are just sh*t, I just set my cruise control and try and maintain a pace but you all seem to think its some kind of race and feel the need to block and play games, I just want to get home at as smooth as possible... just pick a speed and stay at it and everything would just flow so much better.
  3. Tom, you don't need to know cars around here, you simply make hatter negative comments and pooh pooh what someone is asking for their car before going on to make negative comments on the car and generally wrecking the thread. Welcome to BS, let us tell you why you are wrong and we are experts. This looks to me a mint car for the money, in the Hero colour, the E36 is appreciating, if looked after this car will not depreciate. Again, good luck with the sale M3Dakar
  4. Good luck with the sale, fantastic looking car, was looking at the other one just last night. Saving for the latest model myself, 4-door M3 is the answer to most questions.
  5. I would vote any clean, stock standard E46 M3 in Manual as a future classic, so many are DSG and feature horrid mod's. I would say thee E39 M5 and E46 M3 will be the collectibles of the 90's and 00's. Any sub model like the CSL will obviously have its collectors.

    Caught on camera...

Was away for three weeks over Christmas and left a mates company car at park and ride, upon returning the car was parked in a completely different place as to where we had left it, the seats were all adjusted, mirrors all moved and the car had gained some millage. Was all Indian guys who were rude and actually trashing cars around us when we were walking to the car. Cowboys, well, Cowboys and Indians. They are called "Park and Fly" Avoid if you can. Did look like fun though, must be great money in it.
  7. Its SMG. Let it go. Dude, you need only come for a drive with a guy I co-drive a rally car with, he can do a P&G, a Double Down, chips and two pieces of chicken in a manual Hilux whilst towing a rally car and not raise a sweat... I swear that's more impressive than actually driving the rally car.

Just an observation. Maybe the rules have changed but I was under the impression that you are supposed to signal when entering or exiting the motorway? Have noticed the last year or so that half the drivers on the road do not see it as necessary. Its rude and you suck. Also, the drivers who don't indicate when turning in the outside lane of a double turning lane that has the option of going straight. This one really grates me, they are normally the same people who cut the inside lane at the same time... I have to go to the trouble of running wide and getting 1cm from your door, it takes a bit of precision driving and is a great challenge, and I do love seeing you temperately loosing your sh*t and getting all dazzled, but it would be much easier for you to simply indicate and let us all know what you are doing. Lastly. Do you really need a large Ute? I mean, you live in Auckland and work in an office, cant you just get a tow ball for the three times a year you actually need to haul something? Seems Utes are the new SUV. Pukka Tukka mother Fukka.

No. You are passing people on the motorway at say 105kph, then come up behind 4-7 car cluster f**k being held up by a lead lemming... so, you put your Ninja mask on and sniper them out with a swerve in front of them from the inside. This is a dangerous move and not fair on the tailgating lemmings just sitting behind him... but its immensely pleasing when they loose their sh*t and freak out. Wake the f**k up and get real people, its a passing lane, if you are not passing, get the f**k out of it and if you cant handle your car, get off the road. This move also works well on people who speed up to block you out on either the motorway or passing lanes, guarantied they will jam on their brakes and take a good few seconds to figure out what just happened, like a dazzled possum. Yes I am an arshole. I apologize if it was your mum driving.

I run red lights every day... but treat them like stop signs first. Also, I have invented a move I like to call the reverse tail gate.

    Dream Drives

I know of a few... have done many rally's, like 15 this year and been all over the place. West coast is beautiful in the South, I come over the crown ranges and headed across and up. Great roads. But, personally, I love a goat track, bumpy, rough, twisty and challenging with narrow bridges, blind brows and jumps in the mix.. preferably with the road closed. From Auckland, in a yawn (road) car, you cant beat the good old drive to Kaiaua for fish and chups... that one corner got me in my E30 once.
  12. At the end of the day, a car is a car underneath. Modern or not, you pull it apart and put it back together again.. and modern cars pull apart and go back together a lot better than old ones I find as the parts are not old and crusty. Nothing to be scared of, I have had pretty much my entire 2006 Megane apart in different stages.. its no different than my old E30's. Something breaks, you google the problem or look it up in a manual, you remove the part, establish if its f**ked or not, order a new pat, fit it... if anything, modern diagnostic tools make it a lot easier, I remember spending the best part of a day trying to get my E30 to idle properly once, ended up swapping out most of the fuel system, was the AFM in the end. With my new car I just plug my scanner in and it pin points quite accurately where the problem is. And..... duct tape and cable ties work on all cars.
  13. The good old days aye bro. I used to spend every Friday and Saturday at the "drags" was fun. I think technology is a huge distraction, we didn't even have cell phones back then, nothing was organised and the excitement was finding the pack and getting amongst it... you couldn't simply keep track online or txt your mates. Was exciting. The modern technology the Police have makes it harder, CCTV etch, your always being watched. I think general congestion and population / couture growth muddy's things a bit to. And cars are generally faster these days, back when I was a boy racer (still am really) cars with 300bhp were monsters, now days your mums mini van is packing that. Oh, and fuel was 80c a liter, that helped. 90% of modern BMW's are hardly inspiring, as someone said above, this doesn't help things.
  14. Forums are like a long term relationship, after a while its just a rehashing of the same old conversations and routines, it can end up like feeling like you are flogging a dead horse… and when kids come along, then the romance is well and truly dead. You can’t stay together for the family or blind loyalty, it stifles potential and creativity, and it can make you a very dull, empty and unhappy person. You need passion. Sometimes it’s best to cut your losses and get out and sample the other low hanging fruit, change is good and exciting. Read into that what you will.
  15. I think the hater comments in this thread sum up why this forum is quiet. 2c Back to FB with the "wankers"
  16. Might be worth checking the age of the tyre's on our own cars also, I was shocked at the age of a second hand jap import tyre I brought to get a wof on my race car.
  17. Could be worse mate, you could be working retail in a maul or supermarket, can you imagine that clusterf**k of Christmas fail. We had a neighbourhood BBQ the other day and I was told I was a "weirdo" because I mow my lawn on Christmas day? Can anyone confirm that it is strange to do this? My Wife and I didn't think it odd?
  18. Cool car, would remove the audio and fit a roll cage though.
  19. Well, was only in regards to the op, wont be trading in soon myself.
  20. Yup, just like my French car that is sh*t apparently even though it has been 100% fault free was actually built in Spain also. 2.7 HDI, the one you want, these things haul ars and handle quite well, I would rock one of these as a daily/cruiser with some grunt: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=674077558
  21. Yup, sure is, refer to Ace of Spades car crash thread! Was meaning this part Quote Sounds like an average Targa stage, unpredictable, bumpy, narrow bridges and blind in most places, if you don't like that sort of thing you would hate Targa is all was saying! Those roads are regarded the best by a lot of people.. but one mans nightmare is another mans day dream. One of my favorites is the road in and out of Whangamomona, the best I have driven this year was old road to Russell.
  22. You would hate Targa then! My favorite road is one that is closed.
  23. Hard out, get well soon, hope you get a holiday after this. Very lucky it wasn't 30cm further over, could have been much worse.
  24. French car day, a Bugatti Type 13? then a 2CV. Spotted a middle aged maori lady get out of a E38 like she was a celebrity stepping out of an expensive car, she did it well.
