  1. Haha, I would consider a 530i a nice DD. The old GTI's were cool, these were popular when I got into the euro cars scene, lots of mods available for them, ultimately lack the grunt a GTI needs and were massively overshadowed by the Mk5. Enjoy. Fit fire extinguisher.
  2. No argument here. Different tyres work on different cars, I have never had many people agree with my opinions on tyres, well short of other guys who actually race etc.. and that is normally talk of semi slicks etc.. The RE002's were sh*t house on my daily 2011 Megane RS, as in they were removed and thrown away. They were so bad in the wet they actually confused the car's systems, they would have traction control and stability control freaking out where on other tyres it would not have intervened. The car is over steer bias though, a lot different to non M BMW's that are prone to understeer, its set up a lot different than most would expect, in terms of wet weather grip, the GY F1 AM2 was in another league, that is actually were the Good Year outshone other tyres at around that $450-500 mark the most... what they failed on was steering feel, they had soft side walls. Has anyone tried the Michelin Pilot Super Sports? They seem to be regarded as the best fast road tyre around the places I look on line, but I have never tried them. Still a big thumbs up for the RE050a from me, I have set on my RS new that are about to die, but I drove the 2015 Megane RS275 (sub 8 min Nurburgring basher) with them fitted on a track day a few weeks back and they were awesome, so good we could not get the car to loose control on the wet "emergency lane diversion" test, that is cones laid out with a water truck trowing water on the track, you swerve in at say 120kph, even drivers who hadn't done any previous track work didn't manage to loose the car or have the stability control intervene. Impressive.
  3. Really? Have never known a car to pull a women, there is always more to the story. Ie, women see the driver of a flash car as someone who is financially secure and can potentially provide for them... this is what pulls certain types. Women won't sleep with you based on what you drive. Key word women. Girls might. In terms of answering the OP. I would say no. I would not date a women based on what she drove, it may get my attention, I would ask her about the car, but would not date a boring women or princess based on her flash car.. Perhaps even avoid a car chick, well a chick that drives a car to look cool... They are normally Tom boys or just as insecure as the type of guys who drive flashy cars. I have dated women who co-drive rally cars though, they are normally cool, but that's more about the sport and the thrill of speed than the car itself. Interesting topic. 4. I drive a 1.2 litre hatchback with comprehensive insurance. That way, my date can get me drunk, drive me home, and take advantage of me. I don't judge. In all sober situations a women should never be driving. It's safer that way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Also, currently running the Goodyear F1 non Asymmetric on my daily and they are honest.. nothing on a Asymmetric but great value and good grip for you average non wanker driver.
  6. I did not like the RE002A's on my car, TBH they ruined the car... on the upside, they ruined he car for ages as they last and last, 22,000km. RE050A are awesome.... but only lasted me 9,000km. I am still of the belief the best compromise tyre on the NZ markey and NZ retail prices is the Good Year Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2. I got 20,000km out of a set and they were really good all round. 2C. I know Michelins are better.. but I could not afford them at the time, Bridgestone offered a buy 3 get one free that sold me and Goodyear had Quadruple Fly Buys and a flexible payment deal.
  7. I date a lot. Well thanks to Tinder and Facebook stalking, maybe a couple of women a week. I am a car snob and do judge women on what they drive and how they maintain their cars, there is a normally a direct correlation to how tidy a girls car is and how tidy she is, in terms of maintenance, waxing, hair, make up etc..... there is also a correlation between how ambitious she is and what she drives, I have found women with nicer cars are more driven, excuse the pun. But, TBH, dirty girls with dirty cars are often a lot more fun, normally relaxed and less self conscious = awesome fun and easy. So. I would date a chick with a crap car, but I would not plan on marriage, nor would I take her home to mother. f**k. Im lost now... Ideally you want both. Im staying single. Side note, I tend to date a lot of women with Suzuki Swifts and annoying small dogs. I appreciate a women who can drive stick. I also like women who own cars with proximity keys.
  8. Would love this also... I have no garage though. You never realise how good a big garage is until you no longer have one. Would be a shame to leave this out in the cold. Drove Boris's car a few years ago, best 5 series I have driven, was like a E39 that had done some boot camp. Good luck with the sale.
  9. Good choice. The OEM look great, especially on that colour combo. Nice car BTW, have always listed after one, I saw one at a motorshow when I was about 10, the roof mechanism was impressive... also, Matchbox did one that looked like your car, even had orange repeaters.
  10. True. Forgot about the subframe. That's a pain job... You could spend a bit of time under there come to think of it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Nice car. I think thats a fair price. As said a lot of junk out there. In terms of suspension, what are we talking?? New shocks? Not that big a deal, maybe do the sway bar bushes when you are under there. Its no race car.
  12. I live my life one car park at a time, I pride myself on the fact I can park my car way faster than most JDM drivers can. Its not all about parking.. but In Auckland, its all being able to negate traffic and make wanker moves, only a manual gives me total control and the ability to quickly cut into other lanes and do u turns in no turn zones.. On the upside, both manual and auto are good at driving up one way streets the wrong way. Also, you don't want a car too low for parking, nothing worse than getting beached on the ramps in multi level car parks, the amount of times I have had to ask everyone to get out of my car so I an make it up the ramps. I tell ya. So. Perfect E90. 18" wheels, stock ride hight, possibly with EDC, Manual. Reversing camera, parking sensors and proximity. In Melbourne Red.
  13. Did not read thread, so will make a unbiased comment typical of forum user. In the E90, I would be happy with the DCT, I was not overly impressed with the change on the Manual equipped car, felt like any other rubbery BMW manual... lets be honest, BMW are not know for their gear box feel... puts on fanboi proof vest. The DCT is faster 0-100 and would be faster on a track. But. I would still take the stick given the choice.. and I would rather stub my tow once every hour on the hour than drive anything SMG. For me, its not the speed, its the tactile feel and immediacy, and the ability to do roll backs out of parking spaces. Anyone who drives an double clutch car will know how painful it it going from reverse into manual or making fast changes in a tight situation. For me, a car is all about parking, I need proximity key and roll back ability, all without spilling my coffee. 10c

    UK M3

Off to a weeding in Tauranga next week, best I be packing the sterilisation gear and my Go-Pro's. True. Get in on a hoist if you can and have a good look at everything, even get at a few bolts with a spanner to check they move freely. Honestly, you would puke at some of the sh*t that is coming in, trucks and cars! Its not just from the UK either, have seen a few Jap cars with the same problems, seemingly mint cars that are rotting.

Fair enough. Not all women from the Hamilton have chlamydia, but I avoid them as a general rule to be safe.. I have a mate who slept with a women from Hamilton, it was months before he noticed the corrosion on his shock absorber and by then it was to late. My "had a mate" stories are real, like they are my mates and I have seen the extent of the damage. I have the suspension parts in my shed, if you compare them to my other spare parts its amazing just how corroded the UK parts are. Be safe kids.

Yup. I looked at a UK 2011 E90 M3 earlier this week. One look at the wheels and you could tell it had been subjected to salt, the car looked twice its age... Exhaust hangers had rust, everything looked old and "cleaned" for presentation. Have seen some shockers over the years, a mate had a suspension coil break on a car that was only a few years old, as in it corroded and snapped... when it come to replacement he had to virtually cut the old suspension out as every bolt had seized, ended up having to replace all links, arms, etc.. and then there is George with the Lotus Exige, just have a look at the extent of the work he had to do to get his car up to the standard he was happy with. If you want a laugh, come down to my mates workshop and have a look at the cars and trucks before they go for compliance, have seen the likes of three year old Audi Q7's written off due to the amount of corrosion. Keep your UK cars, not for me, the dealers are sketchy as f**k and know that your average joe is non the wiser... happy to pay a premium for a NZ new car. Bottom feeders. Also.Im new so this is the first anti UK rant from me so I am exempt. Even if its an age old known fact that UK cars are sh*t. Also. Shot Dale.

    FS: 2010 M3 wheels

    Genuine OEM wheels? 18"?
  20. NZ New SE Facelift, 15" weaves, Manual? The E30 has its own proximity functionality, anyone who walks past it want to jump in!

It is if you don't have 70k. But yes. Tell em they'r dreamin.
  22. Funny you say that Andy, after driving the E90 M3 manual it still had the "old BMW" feel to it that we all kinda like. I would be open to a nice NZ new E30 325i SE in manual with 15" Basket weaves, but they are rare these days. It really is the engine that sells me on the M3, that V8 is magic! So, have looked at a couple more E90's now, both were in the same kind of average condition, one was a 2011 and a UK import, would not go there, also looked at a coupe, but I'm not a fan of coupes unless they are a proper sports car... the E46 M3 is a better looking Coupe IMHO.. throw a V8 in one of those and you would have a hot rod.
  23. Honestly, after having proximity it's hard to go back. It's so nice to just walk up and open the car, no digging for key in pocket, you can walk up with a box or shopping bags and the car opens automatically. Jump in, again, no digging for my keys out my jeans, just hit start button, skids on! Honestly, I spent the first five years or so of my driving life in a tin can with power nothing and it was fun.. But im twice that age and a few years now and I have the attitude that if it's available why compromise. The only M3 4-door with it on TM looks to be a 08 Jap import with a 2011 LCI rear end. Will just keep an eye out for now, I'm sure the right spec will turn up. I found a video on YouTube showing CA can be retro fitted, just wondered if anyone has done it on this forum. Seems the yank sites have more enthusiasts of the new cars and associated tech. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I was waiting for it, I really was. Its a case of having the latest and then going going backwards. Like going from a I-Phone 6 to a I-Phone 4, the little improvements you end up taking for granted that you do miss, it seemed stupid having to insert a clumsy fob in a hole that is obscured by the steering wheel and then having to hit a start button, that makes less sence than just having a traditional ignition barrel, at least thats one step, insert, turn. By your hilariously sarcastic logic, lets consider not have remote locking, meaning you need to use a key in the door lock... hell, why even have central locking when you can reach across and unlock the passenger doors. When a car is your daily, its the toys that make the difference, and I am a technology geek that loves gizmos and options, and I would keep the car for a few years. Can any E90 owners give opinions on what are desired options on this car? The car I drove had EDC, I thought this seemed like valuable option to have, can not see how many have it optioned. The car was a manual, would like to drive the automatic car also. Thanks for your advice in advance.
