  1. I believe it was for negative gains when measured in real world application. The weight of all the batteries and gubbins needed more fuel to lug around than was saved by driving in "electric" mode for 3 minutes before you ran out of charge!!
  2. Thanks, very tempting. Where abouts are the wheels to have a view of them please?
  3. Only if it's the later Plug-in Hybrid or even fully electric version of the Prius, the early "Hybrid" versions that don't plug in but charge of the engine / regenerative braking are the worst of all worlds and just a green wash marketing hype.
  4. Hey, do you know what the offset is for these, and the centrebore?
  5. Not necessarily, still useful for anyone that races their E30.
  6. Any paperwork to certify the welds so they can be put on a Cert plate?
  7. Have you tried Gavin at Euro-Italian? Failing that the main dealer should be able to get them in before Christmas.
  8. Speak to George Stocks, they have all the parts and equipment to convert your front struts over to coilover set-up. Not sure about Yellowspeeds but most brands still need the sleeve to be welded onto the original strut.
  9. I'm pretty sure I've seen a set of these knocking around at P & S Autocentre.
  10. It would be pretty old technology if it was a diesel and it WASN'T direct injection, I think the old IDI engines died out in everything apart from tractors in about 1990! Nowhere near efficient enough to meet the later emissions standards. And come to think about it even IDI engines still injected into the cylinder head AFTER the inlet, just into a seperate smaller chamber to start the iginition, so that would stil be a direct injection under the newer definition. Harder to clean yes, but not impossible.
  11. Yes, it is all related to your post count. When you hit certain numbers you will go up a gear "automatically" - does that make it an auto gearbox..??
  12. Yes such a model does exist, was a South African build for the SA market during the days of apartheid restrictions. They were able to do some very cool sh*t with their models. Added quite a few "go faster" bits to the M Tech II 325i to come up with a fantastic little car, not many built either and have become quite collectable now. Definately a very nice car, and in very good condition from the photos, but that price is well up there, into E30 M3 money. I know which one I would buy and which one will probably increase in value the most.
  13. Alternative opinions based on fact are perfectly acceptable. However, the abusive terminology to others expressed with those opinions is not, hence the need for moderation.
  14. As much as I am not a big fan of and EGR system on a diesel engine, a system designed to improve test results in a laboratory but utterly crap in real-life application, I am even less of a fan of diesel remapping. Yes, it is very simple to get more power and even better fuel efficiency out of a diesel engine from a simple re-writing of the chip, the reason that the manufacturers didn't do that in the first place (you'd think they would if it was that simple right...) was to meet the emissions regulations. The whole injection cycle is carefully set to minimise a number of harmful emissions, not just the headline CO2 which everyone seems hung up on. EGR was originally developed to reduce Hydro-carbon (HC) emissions by recirculating un-burnt fuel, and had the side-effect of helping control the flame front and keep oxides of nitrogen (NOx) emissions down. Removing an EGR system completely and remapping will result in both of these emissions going off the chart. Technically removal of any emissions control system in NZ should cause the vehicle to fail a Warrant of Fitness test, now currently it is most likely you would get picked up on the fact that your car has no EGR and a re-map, but the planned future changes to emissions testing would probably make that evident.
  15. Sounds a bit like negotiating the roundabouts in East Auckland...
  16. Arron, I have cut this from the "For Sale" rules post stickied in the For Sale section.. At a minimum your for sale thread requires: * A clear photo of the item being sold * A price, (''offers'' isn't good enough) however $2000 or near offer is fine * A location of where the item is being sold from EG Wellington All threads that dont adhere to these rules WILL be removed without warning or explanation. So, in your post where you list "M Sport suede seats" "carbon style trim" "I have another set available from another car $300" but then don't have prices for the first two or pictures of any of these, let alone clear pictures of the wheels and tyres, etc. you have list then you do not even meet the minimum requirements for the post. We have been over this many times on previous posts of yours, and you always choose to try and argue the point rather than just following the rules. If you put what is says in the rules then there is no problem.
  17. Yeah, that's about right, the O2 arena have been dicks about entry since it opened. Strictest place I have ever been for a concert, bag checks for food and drink have always been completely over the top. This is obviously the next step. Interestingly I had a couple of mates going to the V8s at Pukekohe at the week-end, and their mum bought the tickets on her credit card, and only she could go and pick the tickets up! Didn't even have the option to print the tickets at home.
  18. Yes, correct this is the difference from the top between the two pumps. Early cars have an external high pressure pump as well as the in-tank, so the pre-facelift is only a low pressure lift pump and will not work with your facelift car. I may have a facelift pump in my garage, as a spare I will have a look for you.
  19. Oh dear, you clearly haven't stood and watched a wind farm for a length of time, or over successive days / weeks / months. One of the joys of my old house was it's spectacular views of the wind farms on the ranges over the Manawatu. It was a surprise if any more than about 20% of the turbines were in operation at any one time. Not a very efficient energy gathering solution. There is a very defined envelope of wind speed, consistency, etc. that a turbine can operate in, different designs of turbine have different envelopes. So when the little two bladey ones are whizzing around (sorry don't know the technical names..) then the big 3 blade ones are sitting still and vice versa. Also the Danish company that built the big three blade ones, Vestas I think it was, used to hire a shed at the back of the factory I ran for overhauling the gearboxes from the turbines. Roughly once every three months pretty much the whole generator unit had to be pulled off the top of the pylon and brought into the workshop, stripped, re-built and put back - I wonder how much CO2 all that lot generated?? Again very selective how you choose your metrics and measurements, but yeah EVs overall are great.
  20. Whoops! Embarrassing mistake on my behalf, apologies.
  21. Checking on ETK they are coming up as being from E34, E24 and E32 Style 5 wheels. Can you bring one in to the restaurant tomorrow Kyu? If I can borrow it off you I have a few sets of wheels I can try it on to confirm / deny fitment. If they do fit the E30 15" weaves then they are worth quite a bit of $$$.. Makes a big difference to your selling price!
  22. Would it not have been the promoter or the venue's decision to employ that requirement of the ticket holders? I would be very surprised if the band had any say in the matter. If you have to actually pay for your tickets to Glasto, then you are nowhere near cool enough to be there anyway so no issues there.
  23. Is that from a pre-facelift or the plastic bumper face-lift, it's hard to tell from the photo but I think it's a pre-facelift, so this in tank pump works with the external pump on the outside of the tank in series?
  24. Most ticket selling web-sites now have a "reselling" section where you can put the tickets up for re-sale but back through the orginal ticket company, and then what I believe happens if / when you sell your tickets is that your details are changed over to the new buyer and the ticket re-issued. seems a much more controlled and organised way of doing it. Or only sell to friends / family you know won't then be a douche and try to on sell again.
