im curious to know your thoughts on the difference your tune/mods have compared to what I imagine is a bone stock example.

Couldnt open your heic file so didnt know you had iDrive. The old CCC system is pretty much useless anyway. Same for the older CIC still cant stream music without mods. Just live with the AUX or getting a bluetooth/aux dongle is the cheapest and easiest option.

too many options and price variables depending on what you want. a brief summary would be: cheapest/easy: aux-bluetooth dongle adapter fair price/easy: any double din unit from audio store with a panel mount kit (i.e. removes original stereo and installs an aftermarket JVC/Pioneer/Sony type thing, looks a bit odd pricey/moderate: chinese/dynavin type units, looks decent but could be quite slow/laggy unlike genuine system. could DIY it if you're capable otherwise more money to get someone to install it. Plenty of online tutorials though expensive/hard-ish: OEM retrofit http://speed.academy/bmw-e92-e90-335i-328i-bluetooth-handsfree-retrofit-install/ biggest issue with this option is finding the required parts, will probably mean checking all the wreckers and or ordering from ebay/overseas.

i ordered some off aliexpress for $45 shipped. gloss black. will post photos when it arrives. at that price its not even worth the hassle of painting them imo

Wont it drone with the res delete? Also any issues with losing power/higher fuel consumption as a result?

i used the mounting holes too on this but drilled the plates a bit higher than centre so the plate sits “right”

the best method I found is to use a euro plate mount but if you dont feel like paying for that or prefer a plate only clean look, you can use some thick double sided 3m tape with a few layers on top and bottom without the sticker peeled to provide a kind of spacer and use some more tape with it peeled to get it "over" the little circular bumps. Its all good to do it this way until you have to remove the plates for whatever reason then you end up bending the aluminium trying to get the tape off
