i might have a spare if you need it i'll have a look. can bring it to next meet. will most likely be black but easy enough to paint with a colour matched spray can

anyone need a pair of 265 40 18 Michelin PSS?
-
Actually you are right. I remember now, a while back I tried to fit this size on my 328i coupe e36 and it was too aggressive and gave up. Could possibly do it with stretched tyres etc but not perfect. The E9x series standard msport wheels like style 194 is a very nice fit though on the E36/46 and they are around ET34-37 offset with 7.5/8" widths.
-
well, if they were in good condition as in, doesnt need paint or kerbing fixed, its worth about $800 without tyres at best so.. to me, style 23 and 24 (both of which I have previously owned and sold) didnt demand a high price/prestige, not like $1000+. If anything, I think your wheels are more a desirable fitment for the 3 series than style 23/24 but because you said it has residual plasti dip thats a pain to remove. Why dont you do a quick refurb to remove the plastidip at least and run them on your 328?
-
its a perfect fitment on most E36/46 as well, if you can refurbish cheaply then its always nice for potential buyers but generally the buyer market for these types of wheels want cheap so sell as is and they can fix it themselves imo. without tyres, worth $3-500

But if the genuine ones were readily available and cheap, would you still want them? maybe yes, but would they still have that prestige about them when everyone has them now? Using the Rolex example, a good Seiko watch is high quality, affordable, and looks good (subjectively). Far more people wear them because of availability and price and thus the desirability of such watches are limited to the likes of the Grand Seiko or limited edition release which are.. (you guessed it) more expensive, just like the Rolex. The BBS wheels of yesteryear are popular because they are hard to find and expensive. People look for neglected sets for cheap and refurbish them and boom you got yourself something desirable now. Thats where the reps come in to the picture. If all genuine manufacturers tried to compete with copycats then the whole economy of goods will become meaningless. There is a market/customer base for fakes and cheaper alternatives and there is a market for genuine items. Also remember that the BBS Germany we are talking about in this thread is more about the F1 and Nascar stuff, not the generic wheels market that we are concerned with here in little ol NZ.

how hot does your 130i run generally? do you find the above to be true? basically meaning it fluctuates between 80-112 degC

Anyone else aware of this function?

Make sure you talk with the seller for a good extended testdrive. A 5 min spin around the block just aint gonna cut it. Get it up to operating temp, drive it how you would like to and maybe a bit more for safe measure and see how it holds up after 30 mins or more. Check under the car and open the bonnet for any leaks, smokes, noises. make sure there is no hiccups or hesitation, if you arent getting a PPI done, go with gut feeling - does it FEEL like a good car that drives as it should or is something a bit off? If it FEELS good and you LIKE the car, then maybe - maybe get a PPI - either you spend the money knowing its a good car and checks out, or its a lemon and you dodge a bullet/bomb. OR if it has minor issues you use that to negotiate the price down to make it less risky/more worthwhile. edit: its probably "cheap" because its a standard non msport spec, less desirable, but has all these tunes and mods to make it go fast. If it has been looked after with good service history and preventative maintenance, you might get a good "drivers" car that may not look the best but still performs well which may be what you want.

Now that you mention it, i vaguely remember a similar kind of symptom on my old 2010 130i (MY09) with 130ish ks on it before I sold it on. It only happened a few times and went away and put it as coils/spark plugs needing changing. Maybe it was this issue too.

Might aswell buy a flameproof suit to go along with the bomb

to be honest, I think you need to look for staggered wheels in order to fit staggered tyres on. I would put 235 40 17 on the wheels you have now (7.5" and drive that as it is, then keep an eye out for a set of staggered wheels then fit the correct 225/45+245/40 combo then.

The B58 engines are all the rage at the moment, M140i/Z4/Supra etc. If not then an M2 would be good probably the most similar to the E46 M3 in most ways just newer.
-
The seller of the black one at turners also listed on fb for $10k ono. Pretty good bits on it but ugly weird 1M bumper and non msport steering wheel. also the white one with non m bumper that recently sold for 6k also on fb for 10k too.

i wonder if this is a true market price given the kms.. definitely much cheaper than the rest and much easier to envision getting into one that this price point you would be crazy not to ?
-
i pretty much meant why do you get a new-to-you-second-hand-car
-
Just curious as to what prompts people to buy a new car. Interested to hear the variety of reasons
-
would that mean 2x M3's? cuz i dont see u selling your E46 for it
-
to be honest i didnt even check the vin, i just assumed it was a comp package based on the wheels and being 2011. reading up about it now, seems like they are 10mm lower and has a slightly different sport mode but most people are saying that you only really need to get it if you like the wheels and otherwise its not a big difference. (i definitely appreciate the 19 csl style wheels but i prefer the 18s, cheaper tyres, better riding and think they look awesome) im thinking next year might be my time to get into one of these..
-
all the wheels you've posted photos of are 19's if im not wrong..
-
definitely nice in black, manual, the "best" e92 18" m3 wheels, but competition m3 is a little bit more special.. 2011 vs 2007. also those csl style wheels on the comp edition is very sought after too. rod bearings done by PS Automotive in Pukekohe according to seller's comment in Q&A
-
edit: good for the price considering the market for these. good luck with the sale. I would have been keen but the kms are creeping up there for me
-
just for 100% clarity, you're selling the 4 door black one with beige interior right?
