M3 f80 or 135i with mods for a fun street and track car ?
qube replied to sean24's topic in General Discussion
completely different price range. $65k for an M3 or $20-25 for an M135i. I used to have an M135i and if you want to push it for big power you really need an LSD. I think roughly budget $5k + labour to fit. It doesnt need to be any lighter, its not a heavy car and if you have an LSD you should be able to put all the power down without it being dangerous. -
acid dip then repaint?

Yes. Dont see why not, its just a bluetooth connector for your car so play whatever you like. Works like any other bluetooth speaker.

The f30 19” msport wheels look good on an e90/91 wagon so might be an easy sell. gl
-
These wheels arent too uncommon so you might be lucky and find one or a set for a reasonable price. style 135 make sure you get the right one for e60 which is 18x8 et20 they make the same wheels to suit e46 with a higher offset also
-
Are you wanting to downsize for better ride quality? tyres will definitely be cheaper but you still need to buy the wheels anyway. Maybe just go for new 19” Non runflats?
-
Not even factory msport. Has odd coloured side skirts too. To me the car looks ugly and just weird but everyone has different tastes so..

Seeking advice for the BMW 116i (2012-2013) (F20)

My understanding is a stage 1 tune is perfectly fine and brings it up and above a 120i which is the same car same engine diff tune from factory. I would make sure basic maintenance is up to date such as water pump thermostat and check cooling system and intake pipe as a minimum. Also maybe a bigger inter cooler at some point. Otherwise no issues at all. mine was nearing 120k kms when I sold it and drove like new. No problems at all. Would def avoid mk5 golfs too old now. Mk6 is ok but still expensive and just as problematic. still think the 116i f20 is a great choice as long as sport or ed30 or msport. great value for money cars. -

^ what did u end up with for the mrs? The f20 116i can be easily tuned for big power gains and you really only need to replace the intake pipe as precautionary measure as its rubber and prone to splitting. the 125i is nice also but way more money same with m135i. The 116i is a great choice for a daily. Definitely need to get either the sport, edition 30 or msport varient though! The poverty spec is quite horrible inside. -

The zf8 speed auto in the f20 116i makes it stand out far above the crowd. -
I think the autobox in the 130i is perfectly fine and well suited to the car. best thing to do is drive a few examples both auto and manual and decide for yourself which you prefer. If you are happy with either just look for the tidiest example for the right price.

I have nothing but good things to say about the f20 116i. (Owned one for over a year and in retrospect should have kept it) Very nice all round car. Reliable, enough power, newish tech/features, safe and economical. Way better than a corolla or other japanese equivalent.
