  1. Looks like a bit of education going on too!

    Quick rant thread.

Probably about 50% of the time. The rest of the time its the precursor to hospital.
  3. Being able to see clearly less than 4 hours after LASIK. And being able to drive again either tomorrow or Monday

    Quick rant thread.

It's the same with aviation, and between me and the missus we have both bases covered
  5. Easy enough to fix with some ally/baking trays
  6. Just wait til mine becomes "fast". It'll make yours look like concourse material Also if anyone wants a wake-up call to realise how fast their re-engined compact is, I can offer up a drive in my 316ti
  7. Agreed, it looks almost.... practical

    Quick rant thread.

I have very bad astigmatism and myopia, both of which can be clearly seen in maps of my eye. The surgeon knows exactly what is wrong, and so do I and I know the risks. I was not advised to undergo surgery, I researched it and chose it myself.

    Quick rant thread.

Phonecall the day of my LASIK. "Oh sorry the laser is broken". Guess I'll be enjoying my two weeks leave still wearing glasses.
  10. Not to mention a 250ml energy drink will have most people stopping for a piss way more often than 1.5l of water!
  11. E28 has rain gutters yeah? So any "gutter-mount" roof rack will fit as long as it is close to the right width (they are adjustable). eg http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/roof-racks-bull-bars/auction-1107204426.htm edit: or better yet http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/roof-racks-bull-bars/auction-1107036285.htm
  12. Yes, it would be so terrible to have a bmw on a bmw forum.
  13. Oil change and WoF on the compact. Rear drum brakes are slightly imbalanced, took them apart and shoes look good with plenty of meat. I'll live with it til next wof time, might give the brakes a good bleed with some new fluid though.
  14. And it has the bonus going for it that many people on the street wouldn't know what it was, and would be incredibly surprised to hear it was a BMW. The 8 after all is the only BMW produced in that sort of supercaresque shape, bar the M1.
  15. This ticks all of my boxes, but the bank says no
  16. Are E38s drive-by-wire throttle control? Because if so wouldn't it be considerably easier to just tap into that somehow?
  17. If it is working, the time seems to be an hour out if set at GMT +12 with daylight savings off. Says it is 7:30ish when its 8:30ish, only way I can get the right result is lie and say it is currently DST, or set timezone to GMT +13
  18. Having a gym set up in the shed (squat rack, bench, ab bench) so a quick 15min workout between getting home and dinner is not only possible, it's easy.
  19. I've had trouble on and off, my saved favourite doesn't seem to work, but a google search and then following the links works. Possibly just need to clear some browsing data or something. Or could be a DNS issue?

    The Workhorse

I'd be happy with that. My rangie gets 22 towing a 990kg float and 2 beasts on board. I would happily do 13 in a diesel! Oh and beautiful car too, much jealousy.
  21. Unless she plans to track it the drums should be fine, I've got them on my ti and they have stopped me just fine in a hairy situation!
  22. If it stayed at $5k I'd be interested. Somehow I doubt that will happen
  23. Sounds perfect! The M43 behind an auto is piss weak, but with a manual box it aint half-bad. Sounds like an ideal first car.
  24. I sold the car sorry, so can't answer but was still going strong after 1.5years.
