My NB#### plate was white. MJ is black though.

Seems to be the ignition module on the distributor as it's still not getting strong spark. Not a huge drama just gotta find the right replacement part! Would love to go to megajolt and use edis, but that's not in the budget til next year. Having parents in the states should help though!

I think I killed it. Hard to start, misfiring like crazy once started. Miss is cylinder 7. Oil around the spark plug hole? White smoke out the exhaust (unburnt fuel because of the miss?). So far I've replaced coil, leads, plugs, dizzy cap and rotor. No significant improvement. Beginning to suspect its a blown head gasket or something similarly sinister but I don't really know what else to check. It's so old it could have a multitude of problems (hence why I did all the ignition anyway). Anyone have any ideas? Or do I just put a 3.9 in it instead?

A lot of vehicles don't have an on/off switch for tsc/esc

I'd much rather go for a drive than go for a drink anyway. And when I do want to drink... That's what the gf is for.

I think the idea of inspiring young people into a sport is a good one, before this Americas Cup many young kiwis would have never thought of Yachting, now they may be considering having a go. How can getting young kids outside and off the couch be a bad thing? I agree that it's a big sum, but the way it's inspired the nation is big. I work retail and every second customer mentioned something about it, it has certainly stirred some interest. More exciting than Rugby IMO, and don't we pour millions into that?

Ended up with a 04 Nissan Sunny with 141kms. Seems like a pretty good deal, and it was in her price range . Pretty bland but I don't have to drive it!

Fair comment. I'm not sure everyone is thinking of the same second gen that I am, sorry I meant the 2nd gen international, so probably 1st gen kiwi? I don't think we got the actual first one. The ones with the bubble shaped lights and bonnets lol. The one we looked at was a 1997. My sisters also had issues with the auto g/box but it was just an overdrive switch, that took a gearbox rebuild to diagnose , and I guess that can happen with any auto too.

I suggested that. She threatened violence. I'm now cowering in a corner.

All waaay too expensive guys haha, thanks for the advice though. She is looking at $2-4k at a stretch. Hence the 2nd gen mondeo. But the latest to catch her eye is a Libero 1.8. Any thoughts on these? I know waterpumps can go, and destroy the radiator when they do. Also, any thoughts on Nissans? Pulsars, Primeras etc? I don't like CVTs but are they really the grenade I think they are?

She drives a hyundai lantra, and its horrible. She would prefer a wagon as she has horses and therefore tonnes of gear. But she also wants economical and I'm struggling to make her see she can't have space and economy!

Looking at a second gen mondeo on TM at the moment as a new car for the missus. Apart from being as bland as a bland thing I can't seem to find much info on what can go wrong, if anything? Are they truly a generally reliable car? Anyone got any hints/tips/things to avoid? Cheers

1993 Ford Telstar. Crashed it on Bridge Street in Hamilton, and replaced it with another one. Some good memories of it, some bad memories but it was reliable at least.

There is a date that all cars after which have to have high stop lights. Not sure what it is but my 85 E30 never had one, nor does my 87 Range Rover. Even some early 90s cars don't I believe. Edit: 1 January 1990 it is. http://vehicleinspection.nzta.govt.nz/virm...nted-stop-lamps

Off Topic but... Click! Just realised who you are. My GF worked there for a while, and I did in 08 (With Jason), and currently working at FCO Hamilton.
-
Trailered it behind the Falcon to the BOP and sold it. Was a sad sight leaving it behind, but hopefully the gearbox will help make another E30 better.

SOLD

Feel free to get in touch with whoever buys it. I want the whole lot gone. Cheers, Paul

Put the bonnet back on today and put all the loose parts inside the car to make it trailerable today, so any takers it is ready to go .

Oh btw, despite the photo everything is there. It's just in pieces as I was trying to work out whether it was worth fixing or not.

Whole car w/ good manual gearbox in hamilton for $850 http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....t=0#entry494944

Selling a manual conversion kit (and the car it comes in!). $850 Car is a 1985 320i, factory manual. Pretty rusty, not worth fixing. Motor still runs fine, but viscous fan is shot. Was not over-heated, as the fan died literally outside my house. - 4 Door -Sunroof (slightly rusty) -Towbar -15x7"/16x7.5" TSW Stealth mismatched set of mags. I think they still look sweet, as the 16" fills out the bigger rear arches better. - Good tyres (Hankook) -325i exhaust -Rego on hold Feel free to come look at it, or ask for specific photos. Can possibly deliver to Auckland for gas + trailer hire money. Located in Hamilton.

Spotted two GT40 (replicas?) at the traffic lights by the Base in Hamilton this morning. Was gawking a bit.

NAC also do a restoration/garage type cover.... normally they charge half-price premiums for it. Or that's what they were gonna do for me.
