I'd prefer to sell it whole as I kinda just want it gone, but I'll see how it goes... Ask again in a month haha, I might change my mind
-
Why? They won't pay out if you crash due to the car being unWarrantable anyway, if the part that is not legal is involved in the accident. Also, surely an increase in roadside checks has to be a positive? And is more likely to catch people driving illegal vehicles than a 6-monthly WoF ever will! Personally I like the idea, my Falcon is in damn good nick and I maintain it well, and it just makes the whole year a little less hassle! (Sure not much, but any improvement is good).
-
Not a bad idea, new cars are better than old, and it will hopefully encourage the average punter to actually take an interest into their own vehicles maintenance and safety, rather than relying on the WoF to tell them their car is safe.
-
Far too true, although the training is all but done with the CPL achieved 10th Jan. But hopefully this will make someone else's mediocre Auto E30 into a minter!
-
One day... tempted to keep all the good bits, but they are the only bits that are worth anything! The falcon is close enough to a BMW though right? And I needa job before I get any more cars!!

For sale is my 1985 BMW 320i Manual. It has some pretty major rust in the firewall, but still drives well (although the viscous fan needs replacing). Rego on Hold WoF Expired November 2012 Located Hamilton. -Interior is currently in pieces a bit as I went looking to see how bad the rust was. Exterior - 4 door sedan - Bronzitbeige, w/ slight crease in the bonnet, and various small dents. Largely straight however. - Sunroof, some rust bubbles - TSW Stealth wheels, an odd set with fronts 15x7, and rears 16x7.5. Tyres have good tread, and are 205/50 all round making the rear rolling diameter 1" bigger. - Lowered on king springs in the front, standard in the rear. Comes with rear kings, and standard fronts too, however rear kings are not captive on standard shocks. -BMW Original towbar Drivetrain - M20B20, runs well, although quite noisy (tappets). Viscous fan is shot and needs replacing, but car was not overheated. - 5-speed manual g/box seems good, although shifter is floppy like most E30s. Good for manual conversion? - 325i exhaust, very nice note to it, without being too loud. Interior - Mtech 1 steering wheel (leather removed as it was torn, still have it if you want it to make a pattern to recover) - Has the better looking gearknob, and boot is not torn - Seats poor condition, quite torn - Glovebox reasonable condition, catch works - Radio is a BMW Business RDS stereo, displays radio station names and current song playing (if available) - JVC 6" rear speakers - Dash has cracks as usual - Toolkit is almost complete - Original BMW jack Yours for only $1000! Buy for the manual bits, and part out for a profit?

Am I allowed one on my Falcon? Or the Rangie?

In that case, personally I'd make sure that they knew that after it's all sorted they wouldn't be getting my money again either, and start shopping around insurance company's. Two can play at that game.
-
Sorry mate, I just remembered I sold them along with the race-car. I thought I'd kept them, but checked and I guess I haven't.
-
That's not what I was talking about at all, Turners Purchase Protection covers any money owing, and is mandatory for any auction purchase at turners... http://www.turners.co.nz/Services/Pages/Tu...Protection.aspx
-
I thought Turners guarantees clear title?
-
I have a glovebox, pretty good condition, in Hamilton. $40.
-
Have the bumper mounts, in the garage somewhere I believe. I'm in Hamilton, but you can have them for $20. I'll just have to check they are still there.
-
Another point to note, large items of that size can't be sent without tracking, NZ Post track anything over about foolscap in size. This is to save their bacon, as they insure items up to a certain value also.

I would have to agree there. I had to realise there was no point fixing my pride and joy when I saw the rust in the floor and firewall. Would be cheaper to just buy another E30! Or something that doesn't rust
-
Apologies, looked black to me.
-
Not quite a BMW, but Autosol'd the exhaust on the Christmas Present. Now just need some favourable weather so I can wash and wax it, and detail the interior. 2002 AUIII XR6 Manual - Drives bloody nice for an Australian. Almost reminds me of the E30, and certainly doesn't feel like a 1600kg car. Complete with heat-wrapped extractors and leather interior.
-
The link he posted has a black interior... I think that's the one he wants.

There are vinyl repair kits available at Supercheap, might stop it cracking but I doubt it'll look pretty. (Claims to make it look new... yeah right.) As for protectant making it worse, thats a bit of neither here nor there. There is no evidence for or against, as people have had dashes crack at similar ages and mileages with or without protectant. It certainly makes it look better though!

To give them credit... the things they listed that go wrong with FIAT Punto's did with the GFs car. But anybody that knows FIATs could've told us that. And it hardly had any helpful suggestions like the ECU in a plastic bag tip the mechanic gave us! (Only a week too late). But I've always bought vehicles they rate poorly. Euros.

Just me or did the price of e30 320i's more than double overnight

I wouldn't judge a book by it's cover though. A "mint" E30 could easily be hiding $xxxx of rust repairs waiting to be done! -
Haha it's the BMWs firewall that's busted. But since you mentioned it, any bonnets for a RR Classic?
-
Went looking for my coolant leak. Found the dreaded firewall rust. Now quietly crying in a corner...
