Very jealous! Love the colour, interior and the high spec features. Good to see it go to a good home, kept an eye on it on TM, sure looks better here than it did in the listings.
-
yeah it sad to see good cars left to neglect, but in all honesty this one doesnt look too bad. A good clean and a new lip, park light and rear badge should tidy the exterior back up. Interior doesnt look too rough, just needs a clean. Anyones guess mechanically though, with the seller pleading ignorance. Very interested to know how/why the ks went so drastically backwards back in 08, from 178,000 to 89,000 (and not just a mistake, it tracks normally from there). id be all over it if it were down here, that colour is gorgeous.

Looks like someone used silicon shine crap on it, my old E39 looked the same >_< Very tidy, but also as mentioned, poverty spec. Wouldnt be my pick of a car at that price.

Thanks for removing the link, prefer to keep things away from the tardme masses. Its a great car, drove really well and was so tidy. Would almost buy it back if i didnt know what i sold it for (to the guy you got it from), and it was a 328i. Never leaked or used anything, and all electrics worked. Out of curiosity, is the paint on the bonnet OK? In the pics it looks very faded, is this just the photos?

Chuck your vin (last 7 or so digits, usually starts with a letter) into this, http://www.rubmw.ru/vincode/eng/ and itll tell you the options your car shipped with originally, including whether it shipped with xenon or not.

Is this a good option for people that dont care for the auto levelling and just want the lights to stay fixed? Or will they keep going out of adjustment, like usual?
-
Has the rule changed? i was under the impression they were illegal if they could be adjusted on the fly from the cabin. Couple of mates got around it by having it ECU controlled when they went to Link ECUs.
-
Looks good, but id prefer it if you didnt have a link to my thread in your listing on TM. Real shame about the wheels being stolen, prefer them to the replacements. Good to see its still been well looked after. Cheers
-
If its just the plastic/glass lens on the light, could it not be replaced?

Im in Kelson now, and have lived in Johnsonville and Redwood/Tawa. Love Redwood, massive houses, lots of house proud home owners and generally just a good quiet neighbourhood. Rentals are expensive and few. Will be looking to buy a house there at some point in the future. Tawa seems ok for the most part, but the closer you get to Porirua the more average it gets. Johnsonville was OK, always seemed to have localised rain there though. The advantage there is they have a "mall", take aways and restaurants. Im liking Kelson at the moment, seems a little hit and miss in some places but the street im on is OK. No supermarket, shops etc (other than the "four square") so have to go to the hutt for shopping. What we have found here that makes a big difference from CHCH (where we previously lived), is that you cant really class one suburb better than the other.... you kind of have to work block by block. You can be in a great block, lovely houses, nice people etc then drive a couple of streets away and you have graffiti, boarded up houses, long grass etc. We had real trouble finding a nice place, in a good area with a decent garage. We also needed the criteria of finding a place with additional OSP (so needed a garage and OSP).

Im confused, are you implying that the windscreen its self is producing this "horrible crap" that needs to be cleaned off? i cant see how a Chinese screen is going to be any more dirty than an OEM screen in the same conditions...?
-
to test the auto dimming mirror, use your hand to block the sensor on the windscreen side (your 3rd picture) and then shine a bright torch into the dot on the glass as seen in picture two. If its working it should change to a tinted green, and change back when torch light is removed.

That makes more sense, didnt even notice it was an O not a zero, i copied/pasted the rego he put into his auction (which has a zero). He does say its a 97, but carjam and the vin both says its a 94. Be keen to see pictures of the LAVENDELGRAU leather interior, sounds nice on a black car.

Check the rubber (or should i say plastic) piping that goes from the AFM to the throttle body, most (including mine) get old and split causing massive intake leaks. Best bet is to remove it all and inspect.

Couple of interesting things i note, its a Jap import (imported in 99, cars a 97), and the vin from carjam raises some red flags to me. A silver 735I eh? Also, arent they Alpina wheels, not ACS? last i saw, wasnt his one quite tidy? Its hard to see from the TM pics, but im sure thats the same E36 i saw here in Welly a few months ago, with "V" branding along the sides. Was built for promo work, and rough as guts.

Surprisingly tidy, reasonable KM and as everyone else has said, it looks like it would be worth fixing. This is a good DIY guide for doing the adjusters, much easier on the pre-facelift lights. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showt...Adjuster-Repair Some info for doing the sway bar links, http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=391817 And this is an amazing thread regarding rebuilding the whole rear suspension setup (to give you an idea of whats involved in replacing what you need) http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showt...ension-Overhaul

How many km does it have and what condition is the rest of the car? E39s are getting cheap now, it might be cheaper to sell it and get a cheap one that has had all the work done already if yours isnt tidy.

Gorgeous looking car, also have a soft spot for tech 2 sedans. LOVE the wheels! Interesting reading indeed. Carjam says its never been registered overseas and this is the original build sheet. I also have the powerbuilt branded one in 1/4" drive (already have 3/8 and 1/2" drive mechanical wrenches). Got it specifically to do the super low torques used on my honda valve cover. I tested it against my 3/8 wrench on another higher torque bolt and it was spot on. Im happy as with it, easy to use and accurate. Got to be careful when doing low torque though that you dont overshoot the target as itll go up quickly. As mentioned above, it is large and needs a bit of space around it to use.

FYI another good site i use for part numbers is realoem.com

I have an E36 coupe lined up. Cheers
