I suspect built in Hastings in the UK, not NZ...

Bump. Prefer cash as i already have a daily runabout now. Poor BMW just sitting, chilling in the garage only being used once or twice a week. Price is of course negotiable for genuine buyers (sick of time wasters). Latest TM link http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=483443245 Edit: Just went out and took some photos of the front seats and the updated dash.

why the hell are you so desperate to have this stuff that you cannot wait two months for it to be put back into production, but instead wish to pay excessive amounts to have a jar? Go get a jar of jam (or the superior Vegemite) or something
-
Bump. Have second car, E39s not really needed now. In no hurry to sell but its a shame to leave it in the garage more often than not.
-
I'd certainly give it a look. i'd have two cars so being a bit older isnt an issue. Just having a read over your project thread now. Whats the 1.6 like (serials question)? Slow? Ive driven a 318i E36 but had the M42, and didnt mind that too much.

Bump, no one has a manual E30 or something they want to sell? Im open to offers of pretty much anything, turbo, V6, FWD, RWD etc, just something interesting. Still prefer manual though (so the other half can learn to drive manual)
-
As per title, im after a daily car. located in wellington. Will not spend over 3k, prefer its a manual, but might consider auto (depending on what it is). Also prefer something thats a bit more fun to drive. MUST have wof and reg. Let me now what you have! Oh, and im willing to travel for a decent car, within reason (meet half way etc)

I'd still check the boot lid wiring harness. Real common problem. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=79896

On a kinda related topic, what's the deal with hids and headlight washers? My e39 has oem factory xenons but no washers? retrofitting the hid Hellas on e36 didn't require washers either? Had those Philips blue halogen bulbs in my e36 and they were worse than sh*t for output. Looked nice thought. I ignored the check control warnings on my old e36 too, until one day I was rolling down the motorway as it was getting dark, in rush hour traffic and found I had no brake lights at all. Sorted that out and never ignored check control since. If you get a lot of rear light warnings, check the boot wiring harness. If you haven't already I would bet on broken wires in there.

mmm, been through the manual conversion thing before. Prefer factory manual. Plus, getting manual bits for a E39 cant be that easy in NZ? MSport kitted E34s are awesome too.

Buy buy buy. Would consider a swap for an e34 535is.

2000 BMW 525i E39. 2.5L Straight six 5 Speed Tiptronic Onboard computer Traction control 8 Airbags Electric seats with drivers memory Remote locking Dual zone auto climate control Rare motorsport model, transforms car from the standard model Motorsport electric adjustable seats Motorsport exhaust system Motorsport "Style 66" staggered 17" alloys Motorsport bodykit (bumpers, trim, boot lip) Motorsport suspension Regularly maintained, fantastic to drive. Good on gas, comfortable and a joy to drive when it gets twisty. New Valve Cover gaskets New Oil Filter Housing gasket Freshly rebuild Vanos (variable cam) unit (new beisan systems seals) Recent trans service Recent new alternator Aftermarket high flow panel filter Slotted and drilled brake disks all round Please dont be put of by the KS. Internals of engine looked great when valve cover was off, no sludge, little wear. All electrics work, including aircon and heater. Open to negotiation on price, and swaps. Please no time wasters, and test drive only with proof of funds. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=483443245 Price on TM is $8000 but it is most definitely negotiable as i have found a car i want to buy and want a quick sale. Car is in Wellington.

Would almost consider letting my E39 go 2000 525i Motorsport, silver, steptronic.

Just found this (whilst trying to find out about the lumbar support, appears sport seats dont have it). http://forum.bmw5.co.uk/topic/64705-e39-lu...l-guide-how-to/ Its a retrofit DIY, but shows how it all goes together.

Make sure the battery is connected for at least 30 mins, from what i have heard.
-
Mine has a date on the back of it IIRC, near the nut.
-
Heaps of people in the states using 3M vinyl wraps on the trim, and it does come out looking good. Ill be doing mine when i can decide on either black or silver.

Purchased a few things from Gavin now, very happy with the service and the parts. Couldnt recommend him enough!

The vanos kit is around $100 all up (including shipping) from Beisan Systems. I only needed the seal kit, not the rattle kit. I also did the valve cover gaskets, but im sorry i dont have the pricing for that on hand. Was pretty reasonable through the sponsor, EuroItalian.

Fuse #46 blows on the e36 when brake pedal is pushed
KwS replied to BMRBOI's topic in Electrical system
Did you pull the boot on the wiring well up and clear of the cables? My old low k E36 was in great condition, only issue was the boot central locking stopped working one day. Checked the wiring, had to pull the boot up a fair way, and sure enough had one wire completely snapped and another 3 bare.
