  1. not fussed on the colour scheme but that looks in fantastic condition! Its a 18 yr old car and lloks brand new! Enjoy.I am pretty sure i would absolutely love one of these!
  2. i dont know.As i said i took it to several places and always tried to ensure that they used the correct specs.I did not try to alter anything.I assumed that the "sport" specification placed performance over tyre life...probabaly for the same reason as BMW do NOT recomend to rotate tyres
  3. ahh yes i have had a couple of those. One guy had a diesel manual prado on trademenf or MONTHS i tried to get to see it a couple of times,he was always" too busy" I am a convert to SUVs but i think i would prefer a touring.SUVS are very practiacal huge load carrying ability but they are all too tall. for nice dynamics, even X5's
  4. i am quite sure that is more than 1 set of tyres! .My e34 535"is" (motorsport suspended) always wore the rear tyres on the inside ,and always wore the front outsides.I kept the bushes in good order, kept the tyres at correct pressures and had alignments done at places recomendded by welly bmw people.I didnt drive harshly or hard.i always swapped front to back about half way through i got about 40 k from ussually bridgstones.BUT i had to swap them front to back otherwise the rears would wear out,on inside.edge
  5. Wilton, northland.kelburn,Karori all easily accessible to town, karori probably the most traffic but all have buses.Wilton ,northalnd garages rare but there are some.Wadestown very good bus aacces to cbd,/all of these suburbs have very good access to sh2 ,where commuting against the trens is ussually at a full 100 km hr on sh2.Khandallah,Ngaio Jville all have the jville train line ,Khandallah has train and bus.Kelburn is a real strange susburb a misxture of student flats and big expensive houses, could walk into townGetting into town in a car in the morning from the easter n suburbs is very slow at rush hour,Once you through town its plain sailing,Miramar, lyall bay, kilbirnie all have the same bus route into town, one of them may go through newtown too..Brooklyn worth a look too, easy to get into to town and out onto sh1/2 bad time of year to come to welllington lots of students looking for flats, some of whom have wealthy parents
  6. and rotate the tyres regularly to try to even out that rear wheel outside edge wear. which you can do with square non directional set ups
  7. how often does that happen i wonder.....this is why the ancap tests can only tell part of the story
  8. i will take a mid 90s euro over a modern hatch any day.The ancap tests are engineered a bit like the fuel economy tests and the cars are built to perform very wel lin the test. How that translates to a non ancap accident is what Olaf is ruminating on I think
  9. only buy a diesel if you are going to give it good runs....20 k minimum with open road running.Dont buy a diesel if you do 5 k each way in traffic.I was told this many moons ago by a diesel mechanic. It has paid dividends so far with a 120d and now a mitsi pajero.I make sure that i use full throttle on occasion. It may all be superstition buti think the good runs ensure the dpf is at full temp and the full throttle contributes to that and "blow" the intake manifold out.Dont forget to figure in the higher rego and ruc( just over 6 c a kilometre). The torque the turbo diesels have make them a nice open road car. In an e60 you are barely aware you are driving a diesel until you stop at a traffic light with a window down, and for a moment slightly less urge from a standstill
  10. what was the outcome of the 320d no go....i must have missed it??

    E39 M5

also the later model ones are much more desireable imho.as for the "i have the best...." its easy.If you belong to tthe BMW car club, and bimmersport you see a lot of older BMWs.Its pretty easy to judge the condition of your car against others. When i had my 535is it was ussually in better nick than other cars of it age.Sio iwould say it was a better than average car.I would be much more likely to buy an e39 M5 than a E60 M5.
  12. have a car spend money and or time....fact of life
  13. You were warned!Enjoy the Ford!
  14. i am a long bodied 6 3 I had a 120d hatch. Was a wee bit tight to get in and out of,once in you will be ok but the seat will be all the way down aand a long way back. There will be very little room between the back of your seat and the front of the back seat.As a hatch back you wont have anywhere near rhte room of a FWD hatch back. But it is a nice drive, really nice sterring and brakes.A 130 will have plenty of engine too
  15. sorry i dont know who has bought page, but i beleive it may be still run by the same family as before..I am sure someone will know
  16. if you just want it checked over the BMW dealer offer a very thorough check up.Page European in Home St Wellington are very BMW savvy and there is a BMW garage in Wakefield St ,Lower Hutt.I can never remember their name and i have had very little to do with them. Mike Page European up kapiti coast is also very experienced (origianl owner of above) but its a bit of a drive.
  17. i would get a badge delete but the spinning propellor(or bavarian flag) would remain forever
  18. really!? what would happen if say you had to swerve to avoid something on the road, would it swerve back into the lane.Is this enforced lane keeping?
  19. i have a little sony xperia go(st27a) but the screen has a horizontal line and seems to have a couple of dead spots .Its also a little bit small to type comfortable. I like thats its "ruggedized" and i like that it is quite small.Dont like that aprt from the above screen issue it hangs, stalls and freezes. i dont need or want a 1000 dollar 6 in whizz bang.Daughter has a refurbed nexus 4 and reckon i should get a refurb one too.I will stay on the spark network.I am thinking a 4.5 in screen is about optimal for me. I dont use huge ammounts of data, text a bit ,check forums a bit(tapatalk) Actually the more i think about it the more i think its the ruggedness i like.I dont want a big fancy case or cover, just slip into pocket and go! are there "ruggedized" phones still.I dont mind getting one from elsewhere as long as it will work here!
  20. i know a fella that could lend you a BIG wagon if required
  21. my commute is 24 km each way and takes half an hour if that.I go the opposite way to most and rarely have any hold ups/
  22. i beleive ignition switches are a fairly common problems on e 39s?
  23. yes the bmw salesman even desrcribed a 123d as a rocketship
  24. you dont need a 135 to see what the room is like.I had 120d.I am 190 cm tall with a long body.Actually getting in was a bit tight but once in the room was fine and there was headroom. (Dont forget to check the seat adjustment every BMW i have driven has a seat that also goes up and down!) ,the seat could still go back but there wasnt much room for rear seat passengers. The hatch back iwas suprisingly roomy, but they are not a patch on fwd hatchbacks.
  25. agreed when i sold my "535is" it was cheaper than a 325
