Quote: E39 Rear Bumper panelbeat/replace+paint

and the guy who fixes it needs to guarantee his work. This happened to us when a guy rear ended the wifes car.He wanted a "mate" to fix it whoworked at Honda repair place.I said thats fine but its got to be a bona fide repair with appropriate remedies /warranties etc.Never heard back from him,so the insurance company then got involved and fixed it.Umfortunately the qualtiy of their work was of a poor std not to mention the time we were without a car. After she got rear ended a second time with the same hassles i has to sell a car i loved and we switched insurance companies too. -
imho the e34 is a more entertaining dr than the e39 a late model 525 touring would be the go i reckon. With a litle maintenance leater is the best interior trim.Dont get black interior. To the OP have you contacted the levin guy?Looks a good car to me.

the 120d could do with an overall drop in ratio bringand all the gears slightly closer. Its overgeared for NZ be awesome if we had 120 130 k speed limits.I dont ussually change into 6th until 110k I thought the dsg sounded quite good auto convenience and manual efficiency/control(ie always locked up)

ouch someone has taken a huge depreciation hit there!

no idea really just a more"practical" set up which may tie in with the touring ethos in the first place.?

so far have got prices on bridgestones turanza.conti premium contact and Pirelli p7 and some sort of Khumo....my own experience suggests that the pireeli and conti are somewhat softer riding than the bridgestones ,so i am leaning toward those two. They are expensive tho...the pirellis slightly more so.Any one with run flat experience care to comment.(fwiw they are all about the same price but more than i used to pay for 235 45 17 for the e 34) I would imagine performance to be similar so the best riding one will be my pick unless someone can say one will last significantly longer than the other?

not so much haters of the yelow ,just agreeing with leaving the car as it is

That situation is also a good demonstration of hoe good most BMW horns are..the 120 d has a ^&%$#N LOUD horn

take a good pic showing all the numers in the middle and post it up,and while you are at it tell us what the numbers are on the tyre,it might even be a metric

got a pic of the dash?....i just love that line up of switches and gauges!I was so close buying one once ,until my mate(an English RR mechanic) said not too......I still wish i did tho.

well done, now keep the coolant to a good ratio of antifreeze and water to keep the whole system in good nick

i learnt the hard way with my e34 not to piss around with batteries....cough up for a big bugger equivalent to the original,eg a hella I ended up getting a din 90.....its about twice the size of a normal car battery ,slightly bigger than the 65 mine had in it and worth its weight in gold at the end of a long cold winters day when i had left the parking lights on ALL DAY

i quite like the look of the e28 from any angle OUTSIDE.The inside is just so disapointing to me.

you are right.even the slightest hill puts you off those 4 l numbers. When i am on the open road i often see flash readings in the 2 and 3 l rangeMy normal "round town running is fairly free but involves either hills or traffic lights. What year is your 320?

real world economy from my diesel is 6.5 litre 100 k,ruc is about 30 bucks per tank.I regularly get 700 odd ks from 45-48 litres. On the open road i easliy get in the 5s...up to 900 ks from the same 45 -50 litres. The ruc is 230 odd bucks for 5000k,Registration is 400 odd cos there is less acc component on the diesel at the pump so you pay the extra ACC when you re license. The service intervals (by the service indicator last time was 17000 ks,and its a nice wee drive, nice steering and brakes.I would imagine a 320d would be very similar.

this is a known issue with e 34s....i cant quite remember where my links are to the fix(es). This is a great place for E34s

when i got my 535 from the previous owner in Auckland (he lived and worked right tin Central city Aucklnad so did virtually cold run stop start. The guzzle o meter said average was 17 l 100k.In the time i had it the round town verage was 12-13 but it was not much idle - stop- start. On a trip i could get it down to low tens if i really tried say Wlg Tauraunga(staying at goooood speeds though)

just any old clean stuff to start with, then change it again when you are starting to use it more.If its road/winter use get the oil thats recomended for the temps where you live, the thinner the better for winter time

too much information Greg

my 535 used to idle at about 700-750 rpm
